Very poor framerate

I get varying frame rates while playing the game. Normally runs at approx 4 frames per sec. sometimes runs at at a nice smooth rate for a few seconds, then back to about 4 frames per sec again. Athlon 2.5ghz, Ati 9700pro, 1gb ram. Any ideas? sour:


Forgot to say that all drivers are up to date and i've tried every detail setting.

I have turned off anti virus and sound and no change

i have
athlon 3000
and radeon 9500



and all latest drivers

it is pants

it is olkay up until i get to the GO screen and the count down which takes minutes

i have tried lowest settings and v little change if any

Have no idea, why that happened to you.. I have athlon 1,8 GHz, 512 RAM, and Radeon 9200SE.. Everythings work perfect at the best graphic settings..
Try to set details and texture resoliution to medium and then see what happens.. Also close all programs, scan computer from viruses, you can also try to disconnect LAN if you have one.. Also try opening task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and look for processes, which use much system resources... If you find some, then try to end them, by pressing end process button.. :hin:

Also, i forgot to say one thing - go to Display properties -> advanced -> 3D
Set the slider to the maximum perfomance and press apply. Hope this would help you :)

By the way, i had the same problem with gta, and this solved my problem..

I tried msconfig and shut lots of stuff down at start up,
including nortons antivirus
I put 3d to max performance
I put game reolution to 4x600
and still as soon as you go toplay eg mini game
it displays push enter to start
and takes maybe 6 seconds to rcognise you pushed enter,
then takes about 10 seconds to do the 3,2,1 count down then less than 1 frame per seconds in the game.

i have the latest drivers
i have tried with no sound.

i have run full virus check
and ccleaner
and adaware
and errorfix.

there seems to be nothing wrong with my machine

yet this is the only game that is siht to run on my machine.

IT IS STILL PANTS.
Atari have not replied to my email for help
what a waste of time this is becoming, not to mention I bought two copies of the game at the same time so when friend come round they can play
a double waste of money!!!!!!

I had the same thing when i was trying the demo

The solution i found for my card ati radeon 9600 was to use omega drivers and run the card as an 9800 using softmod

Thanks for everyones idea's. I've tried everything. Still very poor framerate. Had a response from atari. Basically it said to update all the drivers (which I told them I had done in my original e-mail), hold on for the patch thats being done or take it back to the shop. The last one sounds good. Companies should be prosecuted for releasing software with this many faults. Maybe they will compensate me for the "handling" expenses. My computer exceeds the specs on the back of the box, so there are no excuses.

I justloaded the omega drivers and it is safe to say it made no differnce.
still takes 10 + seconds to cound down from 3 and key responses nearly imposible at less than frame per second.

if i open task manager it says crash day has 99% of cpu resourse

that is the problem someting in crash day is taking all the computing power, maybe it isn't using the graphics card at all?

I have hundreds of other games and only this one has a graphics problem

what else can i try?
