Unable to Play

I have just bought the TCNY game and installed it, only to find the following message appear when I try to run it.

Regardless of which answer i click, I then get the box with Tycoon city logo and the options of, Play, Configure, Show Readme, Quit. When I click play the screen goes black for a couple of seconds and then back to the desktop, with no error message or sign of the game having been launched.
My system is as follows:

XP
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2000+, ~1.7Ghz
512MBRAM
ATI Radeon 9000

When I get this message I run in safe mode and then when I get the option to Play or Cancel I cancel the game. I then launch the program again and it starts up fine - does that make sense? :)

Hi, yeah i've tried this but still just goes to black screen and then back to desktop the next tiime i try it
