Hey guys, I've registered for this question, or information. Hope I'm not wasting your time, but anyway.

I just came back from a quick game of the Test Drive Unlimited Demo, and I might have discovered something.

I was mucking around with the windows, showing my friend the difference in engine note. In the top left hand corner of the screen there is the window prompt which shows you if the windows are going up, or down. I don't know what I was doing, but I accessed a menu with options for a radio, and traction control?! Either I'm very stupid, and don't know about this, or I've found something. So I turned the traction control off, being all excited I didn't check the other stuff out properly (Silly me).

You may have noticed in the controller menu there is an option for menu switching, or something along those lines. I saw it just before, and decided to try it - I already knew it did nothing because I've pressed left a few times, and nothing happens.

So yeah, if anyone knows anything about this, please, please tell.

And no.. I'm not pulling legs, or joking. I am also sorry if this is a well known thing.

I havn't bought a 360 yet so I can't anwser your Q. But what I can say is whatever response you get there is no need to feel "sorry" about anything. You obviously cared enough about this subject to write about it. So again, don't feel sorry or downplay yourself about any question you feel like asking. Hope that gave you some comfort.

PS: I had a great day today can't ya tell :)

EDIT: BTW, Welcome to the forums :chapeau: mdr1

Thanks for the welcome.

I was avoiding those 'forum experts' and 'leet' users by a quiet entrance, you know the type though.

'omg, lol! what a noob', etc.

Anyway, it was kind of silly of me for not mentioning this, but the point of my post was to see if anyone knew how to access that menu. I forgot to mention that I was basicly button mashing at the time, and accessed it. So yeah, god knows how I got into it.

I've taken a brief look on the net for information regaurding it and found nothing.

But let me tell you, driving the Shelby with no aids was an experience.

I don't believe you.

And no one else will, unless you have evidence. Surley you have a camera and then take a photo of the screen? I think you are just trying to make people put their windows up and down constantly for 15 mins.

Nice try :)

And so it begins..

Look, I don't really care if anyone trusts what I say or not. I know I am telling the truth, and to me, that is all that matters.

Contrary to popular belief, some people tell the truth. Yes, even on the internet. I know where you're comming from though, it does seem rather suspect, more so with no proof.

Ok, if anyone is interested, here is what I know.

There is evidence of the menu in the controller setup screen, where it shows the '360 controller and labels left on the D-Pad as "Switch Menus".

However, in the start up sequence of the demo, left on the D-Pad is unlabeled.

If you open, or close the windows, then press left, right or down while they're comming up/down "Close" is shown where "Window" was shown. This isn't really evidence of anything, but may help?

Yes, having people try and figure this out would be great, more than great. But if I'm labeled as some joker on these forums because of this..

If I can do it again, and get my friend to come around with his camera, I will show you.

Until then.

I never said that you are lying. i don't even have the demo

That's no problem, my comment was directed more towards davie18. Pitty to hear that you are demo-less.

I could tell you that I've figured out how to access the menu, and it'd be the truth..

Want to know how?

I've not tested it in every car yet, but what you need to do is:

1. Jump in any car (I assume) EDIT: Get it out on the road. :)
2. Hit up on the D-Pad and watch the top left of your screen for the "Window" icon.
3. As soon as you see "Close" hit left on the D-Pad, this will allow you access to the menu.
4. Press left until you get to the "Driving Mode" menu and press down to change your options.
5. Enjoy.

Pressing left on the D-Pad change the menu at the top to either "Radio", "Driving mode" or "Free Ride Players". The only menu that seems to function is the "Driving Mode" menu.

Have fun guys.

i just tried it there with all the cars in the garage at home, pressed all sorts of logical buttons and non-logical and nothing gave me any options for radio or traction control.........

Guy's he's right.

Take the car out of your garage.
Press up to close your windows, wait for it to say close then hit left.
You'll hit the radio menu, then left again gives you the driving menu.

Gotta be quick though cause up/down will make you change your windows again. I tested this with the Gallardo and Shelby.

Nice find !

Heh, thanks.

I should have mentioned that you need to take your car out of the garage, but I didn't really think about that.

Whippin' those online who don't know about it, I wasn't suprised when I saw the potential of the cars without aid.

There is one thing I don't get. Instead of having to go onto a secret menu to change your driving aids, why couldn't it be there in the first place? It would just be alot more convinient, and no one would have probably complained as much about handling from the release of them demo.

Has anyone notived if you keep pushing left when you get to the screen it has a list of people? I saw one name in particular: Vibroboy.

The same thing could be said about many issues with the demo I guess.

The freezing issue when the E3 servers were up, the steering sensitivity - manual/auto glitch (I don't know if anyone else has this) and no options for aids on/off. These are all hefty glitches, and has probably deterred a few people.

I spend about 4 minutes waiting for the splash screens, fiddling with settings, turning off aids only to do it again 10 minutes later. It seems a little silly though, doesn't it? I'm not phased though, I still enjoy the little time I get actually driving. tonguegre

Eden wasn't ready for E3 I guess, maybe a big wig Atari dude pressured them into releasing the demo in a weak state. Who knows, really.

I don't think the demo was rushed, Vibroboy said the work on it had sropped a month before it came out, it is just that they want to put more work into the full game, to make 100% sure that they will be ready for the release date.

I dont think it is a secret menu...the game says its going to have windshield wipers and all sorts of extra controls....they probably have it all programmed into one button that actually controls the function and another the selects the function..cause if they didnt they would have to have 20 different buttons on the controller, anyways...there is another function ppl probably dont know about...and i dont even know how to use it...but if you press start while driving and go into the options menu goto controller, controller setup and at the bottom it says hit A A for warning flash...i tried it and havent got it to work but maybe somebody is smarter them me :hin: ..good find tho man
