I saw a few movies and i don't have the feeling it's a big island. I can have it wrong! But is the island real bigger then we see on movies? And how long does it takes to drive from the south of the island to the north?

it is VERY big and i reckon its about 2-3 hours to drive across.
You can drive from the bottom left to the top left along the coastal road in about 10mins, bare in mind that's probably averaging 100-120mph in the Gallardo and that's if traffic doesn't become an issue. I could maybe do a vid for you if you wanted.

yes, the map is absolutely huge. You have no idea. I was watching a video the other day that showed the whloe map. ill se if i can find it.

Ok doing between 120-180mph the whole way through with one crash (grrr !) it took 5mins to go from bottom to top of the map along the coastal road.
BTW I'm talking about the demo not the full game.

I would say, 5 minutes is pretty short indeed. So in the whole map from south to north must take longer Tenebra?

I can tell you that the demo is a diminutive fraction of the map.
As for new shtuff, I'll send some precise requests to Atari during the weekend. Apologies, right now I'm in the process of packing up possessions in boxes (dvd's and games only filled 7 boxes) to move to a bigger flat, hopefully more time to follow things through properly in 10 days.
But we've got 3 months to wait still, we don't want to go through all the bits too quickly ;)

Are you mad? Just look at this, (http://walrus.wr.usgs.gov/coralreefs/images/oahu.jpg) more than 50km wide.
You will never be short of road. There is more than 27 times the amount of road in the full game as there is in the demo.

Don't you remenber mate, that one guy from ohau (sp) said that the only main city is hon(sp) and the rest are just little communities like housing plans with a wal-mart everywhere(joke on the wal-marts)

It is 44 miles in length and 30 miles in width, 594 sq. miles, the coastline is 112 miles, and there is more than 1000 miles of road.

Well Luxembourg is maby a small country but I haven't even experienced all the cool roads and believe me there are plenty, so if we only get half of the size of Luxembourg... i'm happy

he said 124 miles...with speed limits from 30-55mph and say an average speed of 40mph it should take around 3 hours.
124mph is a very high speed...so even if you drive quickly it would take an hour and a half. as they modelled the island after O'ahu it won't be any bigger, but still its one of the largst, if not the largest, environment ever created in a 3d game. i know of no other driving game that features such distances.

Staying focused for 1 hour on driving a fast car is very long, trust me :)

i'm taking part in live for speed races spanning over 1.5 hours regularily, which is damn near impossible to master without a few mistakes and furthermore pretty exhausting indeed.

It would be very annoying to lead the race, but then at the last few metres/feets you will lose your concentration, and you'll crash and you lose the race. Are the races gonna be very long? Like 20 minutes or 10, or 5 minutes average?

The challenge races are set by the players, so they can be just a mile or so.... more like a drag race. :atari:
Or as long as you want. :nuts:
( I think you can set waypoints, so in theory you could race in circles - not sure about that though :mefiant: )

there are plenty of races with different rules and different lenght.
The longest one is a time attack of about 1 hour. Next I think we got a race against other car of 45 min. the shortest must around 2 min.

You can according to one of Vibro's reports.
Something about a lot of legal issues, and that they only come if you hit something.
