I was looking for some info on this. Wondering if a PC version of the Demo is on the horizon?

They probably dont want to realease a pc demo coz it would be easily cracked. As in that 15 min timer would be removed and stuff.. cars would be added from the full code and such.. Unless they just give u a couple of streets to cruise on and close off everything else.. They could do that..

Cars could be added from the full code? But you don't download the full game in a demo! That would be impossible, if they didn't provide it, and the files what the hackers needed weren't leaked. I think if there was a demo for the pc anyway, it wouldn't have a 15 min timer :wink:

no i meant the cars from the full game when it comes out to be transfered to the demo. And somehow ***** the demo to a full version with files that you, say, download as torents. maybe

Why would you download the demo, then transfer cars from the full game to a demo? Wouldn't it just be easier to cra*k the full game? rolleyesa

You won't be able too.
GTR was released with all the tools to customize the cars, and enable custom built ones into the game while locking the physics and what not files.
GTR was not done with this on the demo, and neither did GTLegends.
Like SimBin, Atari will encrypt codes that lock out files so they can not be accessed. Demos are not available with all the cars anyways, so it's a waste of time. Modders tried this with GTR, and all they could find were the 360 Modena GTC, and S7R that came with the demo.
So, good luck to whoever. You're not going to find anything else encoded in the program besides what's already there.

dang no pc i was just looking if this was gonna be the next game for me to buy (in september lol) insted of NFS:Carbon but no pc demo so i cant see if it's any good

I was at least reasonably sure that the latest code contained different code to that in the demo, hence them not being compatible, so no transfer anyway.

it takes ages to make a demo. Anyway the 360 demo would come first because it is being released first. The PC version doesn't come out til October and that is 4 months away. They will release a PC Demo after the 360 release because the 360 is the main console of this game

i believe there will be a demo for pc. when i do not know but it sounds possible that it could be in august.
if the game is released in oktober (for pc) than the demo should be around august or september. since you guys of the xbox version got your demo waaaaay back and the game for xbox will be released in september if i'm correct. so pc demo should be here within months.
not much use when the demo is released after the full game.
unless they wait for a demo in the final code. this cant be that hard, cause xbox is from microsoft, it has a pc procesor and a pc grafical card in the xbox so converting it shouldn't be that hard.
and pypassing the timer in the demo? thats atari his problem. if the program it the right way than theres no way to py-pass it.
anyway i would love the see a demo on of these days.
we'll just have to wait.

The thing with a demo is that it has to work.... very few glitches, stable on as may different PC platforms as possible. A buggy demo will put people off the final product, so its unlikely that a demo will be released until the game engine is almost completely finished. :respect:

Ofcourse we wouldent ! :) since everyone who's an console gamer and hangs out here obviously also owns a PC. The most people who own a PC and is a gamer will have a decent PC which could be used if there was a PC demo. And if you don't own a PC and there would be a PC - demo. No loss since you wouldent know about it ! :D

The PC version of the game is going to be released later than the 360 version so therefore it is only fair that the demo is also later. Vibroboy said that they are not coding the PC demo yet so they arn't going to release a PC demo anytime soon. I don't know why there is this big divide between 360 owners and PC owners. We are buying the same game at the end of the day so i wish you'd stop sayin it is unfair that you don't get a demo. I know that isn't your fault but it isn't ours either. The devs haven't posted on this forum for a couple of weeks now - if not months. Saying PC demo every second sentence isn't going to speed up the process if they are not even here to read your posts.

and btw. PC coding is much different from 360 coding. You can't just transfer the codes.

Quite obviously a demo will give as accurate impression of what the game is going to be like, without giving the full functionality of the game, so that people are going to want to buy the full game. :chapeau:
You can never account for bugs or gameplay changes that have to be made after the demo is released.

It means that it will show you for example the cars from the game with the same level of detail , and maybe other cars aswell , but some maybe you cant buy, just to make you buy the game. Like theres an enzo that you can enter and start but you cant drive it.. just to make you get the full game becuase your excited..

There has, to date, been no official announcement regarding a PC demo (or even a PC release date). People turning up randomly and asking the forum members when this will happen, are, quite frankly, not going to get any form of answer that they are going to appreciate. Not to mention, they're breaking a basic rule of forum etiquette by not even bothering to search for the answer in the first place.
I personally guarantee, that as soon as there is any official information regarding the PC version of TDU, that it will be posted here in the forums as soon as we have it. :chapeau:

Well, a PC Demo would be nice, but the only thing I want for the PC version is to be able to use the Numpad keys... if that's possible I really don't need a demo, I'll wait to put my hands on the full game. :)
GTR has Numpad keys "blocked / reserved" for custom-cam, instead of a menu for that... very stupid. I'm forced to use arrow keys. sour:
I usually use the Numpad keys to drive in racing games... Please ATARI, don't let us down. :salut2:

Due to my mighty human powers I'm getting very bored with my games, So a PC demo would be excellent.
The GTR2 demo lasted about 10 minutes so I won't be buying that. XD
And I definatly won't be buying an XBOX 360. I'm saving for the PS3 :)

Well like everyone, I'd love a demo for PC.
I read someone saying that like for driv3r, the PC demo will come out only after the full version gets released. Well...I don't believe that. My guess is, they might want to test their servers since it is the first MMOG with cars. An other reason I could think of is that TDU demands a lot in terms of graphics, so letting people test it and getting a lot of feedback from everyone might be a very good thing to get the best out of the game and satify the most people :)
Now, I might be wrong, but this all sounds pretty logical to me ;-)

Yeah, I'd LOVE to play TDU demo on my PC. But things are like they are, so we can only refresh this forum every day waiting for some announcement about PC demo and PC full ver.

A demo coming out after the official release usually means that the game isn't that good because if it was great, the demo would be released before to further show the players how good the game is but releasing a demo AFTER the official release will sell a lot more copies than when releasing the demo before because the community will already know that the game isn't that good.
In short, its a "business trick".

They didn't forget us (well maybe a little bit ^^), they just made the right choice and do one thing at the time. I see a lot of average or even negative feedback on the second xbox demo, well I hate to say this for the xbox owners, but that might be good news for us as they might improve it for the PC geeks that we are mdr1 !
The only thing I'd like, would be some official PC version thread being opened with the PC game's development status and what is being planed for it :)

im starting to think that they are so winded up about the complaints for a pc demo that they simply arent going to make one :)
and just launch the full version.
and somehow i find that a good idea.
i rather have them spending all there time on the full game in those two mounths than spending time an a small stupid demo with so litle possibilitys.
its the full game that you want to play for hours or ages.
a demo is just a small treat.
after seeing the movies, the pictures, the previeuws...

how much difference can there be between xbox and pc.
they arent going to change the entire gameplay to **** just for pc.

xbox 360 are all the same, so they could test all but server response in house or privately.
pc are 1000000000 different combos in hardware and software. tho in this day n age drivers are more equal than they were 10 years ago, when one gfx card might be supported but others were not.
i have played enuf online games, MOOs, etc to know when they do private pc testing, or limited beta open tests, when they patch those game or release them they are buggy crashing or the servers down for days to fix them.
i think the thing that bugs me and other pc players mostly over no demo or beta, is the sheer lack of any news at all. no estimated system specs even...how hard is that exactly? i mean we have zip zero and nada info at all on the pc side of the game, other that they shelved it to work on the xbox one.
now xbox "demo 2" is out the game is supposedly gold, and yet they have all kinda complains that there are bugs in the xbox version of the game. now if xboxs are all the same and pcs are all over the place in performance and etc. how are we going to get a real pc test if they intend to make that arbitary release date even if its nov, thats pushing it. so are they going to reshelve the pc game to once again work full bore on fixing the xbxox one before release.
nevermind that we have seen many horrible consoul to pc conversion games, and i suspect that is what they are doing now to tdu. especially if they shelved the game entirely and now are trying to put it out in october.

But like you said. PC version will just take a while because of the different systems. and I suppose different levels of details of the cars instead of one mesh there would probaply be about 5.

I have nothing against patches as long as they don't weigh over 100mb!
Check out boiling point for example, there's a 190mb patch weirdblue , that's just wrong.
I'd rather have Atari and Eden work full time and release the PC version later than having them selling some buggy software on which I'd have to apply 10 patches.

Some times the release date catch up quickly, and you have to either release the game or delay it, in which they lose money, but they do it for the fans.
That usually what Demo/Betas are for, to test the last stage.. Game that need patches have had too little time to be made.
Take Battlefield 2. 360 MB for a patch.. I mean HOLY TOAST.. And it was rushed so fast through production..
So I really hope they are testing it through to the bitter end so we wont need to patch it every month
So I agree with you Sh4dow_Racer, better have them working long time, but still holding it to a reasonable release date..

That's the story about full ver of the game, but anyway, why don't they give us that PC demo and let us judge about it. Bugs and that stuff - well, that's normal in any software and game, we live with that.
But i think there want be that much bugs in PC ver.

From what I've heard, the devs took a break to go see the family and friends now that the xbox version is done and they will focus on the PC version now (I know already said that ^^).
Here's what a Dev said in the frensh part of the forum :
Pour en remettre une couche, je peux même vous dire que nous sommes vraiment chauds concernant la version PC. La simple évocation de certains périphériques comme les volants à retour de force, les pédaliers avec embrayage, les boîtes en H ou le TrackIR suffisent à nous donner des frissons... ;-)
He says they are very enthousiastic about the PC version and only to think about force feedback wheels and stuff makes them dizzy :bravo:

That's really too bad. I read in the top gear review of TDU that this game has been in the making for 5 years now! Not a record, but still, I can understand that after so long without any info, especialy for the PC, some would just stop giving a cr*p about the game and pass on to something else :noooo:
