probaly not

yeah, all cars (it's not the only free car you can get from pre-ordering the game, depending where you pre-order it.. I don't know more so don't ask me wich car and where lol) are fully usable from start.

04-07-2006, 09:57
But how ? How do they do to get those Lambos and give them away ?

the_gaming_guy
04-07-2006, 10:03
They give you a code which allows you to download it from XBL marketpplace.

Gaskellorama
04-07-2006, 10:08
Jesus why not do the research type in www.play.com and take the 2 seconds to look!!!

but for those of you to LAZY to search for yourself!!

PLAY.COM EXCLUSIVE! Pre-order Test Drive Unlimited on XBOX360 today and receive a code to download the stunning Lamborghini Gallardo Coupe in-game car - This car will only be available to PLAY.COM pre-order customers!! Codes will be dispatched to coincide with release date and will enable players to download car from XBOX Live Marketplace.

As Vibroboy said though, there are a few companies giving away little gifts with the pre order of TDU, sods law gameplay didn't do it (as far as i know)

lillnickevinge
04-07-2006, 10:16
Yes i understand that u get a code .. But where do the company get that code from ? Is it Atari that gives the codes away ?

Gaskellorama
04-07-2006, 10:24
Play.com will have paid Atari or arranged some kind of deal with them, maybe they had an agreement that if they bought 100,000 units they could get a free car for every person who buys the game, (bare in mind that all the downloads are free anyway so Atari aren't actually going to lose out on anything)

I m not sure but yeah, it's prolly something like that.

craigie22
04-07-2006, 17:30
i hope amazon.co.uk will give away a free car.

Also are these free cars exclusive to the code holder or can anyone download them from the marketplace cos all the cars are free to download so why would it actually make a difference?

the_gaming_guy
04-07-2006, 17:32
Basically, we won't get a code.

And they can begin with a Lambo. We can't.

craigie22
04-07-2006, 17:34
but it said download. anyway i want to start from the start with little money and a crappy car. Thats the fun of the game. I don't want to cheat and have a lambo as my first car

davie18
04-07-2006, 17:35
Yes, only the people who buy it from play.com can download it...

Hostrup
04-07-2006, 17:43
That's a very bad choice by Atari and Play.com - Not from a financial position, as they will get more pre-orders, but from the games standpoint it is. That means that there will be 100.000 users driving lamborghini Gallardo's from day one, and that's overkill. There should be a limit to all the exotic cars, so that they aren't baught in flood numbers.

Gaskellorama
04-07-2006, 17:51
you've got to remember though that people set up there own races and can set limits as to cars and stuff so it might not neccesarilly be an advantage, they'll still have to race the lower levels and have to buy the other cars, some of the races for the Lambo might only be open to Pro racers etc!!

so it's not really much of a big deal, they have one good car from the off!!

Crazed_Dodgem
04-07-2006, 17:51
maybe you only get the free gallardo when in offline mode?

stops cheats see

coolscarz101
04-07-2006, 20:51
When u first get the game and if u have loads of time it would be cool to cruise all over the island in a Gallardo finding out whats what

stalker700
04-07-2006, 22:15
Well it dosen't matter. my guess is that money will be pretty easy to make. If you look at the demo, one race 20,000 ? well that's 10 races and you have 200,000 enough for your brand new gallardo or something bigger. and 20,000 is not the limit for how much a race can earn you (solo races).

fun-meter
04-07-2006, 22:38
Im also guessing the fact that you can re do a solo race, so it means you can improve on a route you know, and earn the money again.

But still, i was going to pre order the game anyway, so a free car in game at no extra cost is a bonus. :)

stalker700
04-07-2006, 22:41
Money will probably dissapoint some people. I think alot of people are going to drive around in "high-end" cars the first or second day.

the_gaming_guy
04-07-2006, 22:54
Aren't all of your races online against other players?

I remember someone (maybe Vibroboy) saying you can't use money earnt from AI races on your online career.

stalker700
04-07-2006, 22:56
Solo career and online career will be separate ? woulden't thta be a bit weird ? or well maybe not. I haven't heard anything about that but i don't know.

the_gaming_guy
04-07-2006, 22:56
Your online and offline careers are different.

stalker700
04-07-2006, 23:00

Somewhere on this forum.

its to stop your plan from going ahead.

stalker700
04-07-2006, 23:07

the_gaming_guy
04-07-2006, 23:08
You can set your own prize. Its a bit of gambling.

stalker700
04-07-2006, 23:11
yeah i know. Feels kinda unsafe ? You earn alot of money someone tricks you into playing and then you lose it all... somehow i know that will happen to me.

craigie22
04-07-2006, 23:12
yeah i think thats pretty good

i am going to start competitions with people and let them pay a fee to enter. It will be from one side of the island to the other and i will offer a prize of a rly good car. But obviously you have to pay a certain tens (maybe hundreads) of thousands to enter tho tonguegre

stalker700
04-07-2006, 23:14
win - win situation for you. But your right that would be really cool. an epic race to the finish line a 3h race to the great car everyone want's. andofcourse the creator earns money and the rest lose exept one.

craigie22
04-07-2006, 23:35
ands its worth it

For example say if it cost £10,000 to enter and i got 50 entrys thats £500,000 straight away and a car worth 300,000 as a prize thats 200,000 profit :)

the 'punter' is happy cos they could win a 300,000 car for 10,000 and i am happy cos of the 200,000 i will make :)

that is my overall plan!

stalker700
04-07-2006, 23:36
Thats a nice idea. but.. 8 persons is the max limit on races rolleyesa

craigie22
04-07-2006, 23:38
yeah but you can set up challenges. They will be there for ages and people can enter then with a 'small' fee lol. That way everyone does their own time in their own tme. It would be hard to get 8 people in the same race that would last 3 hours.

stalker700
04-07-2006, 23:40
I sense a buissneis idea coming up... that many will use since it's a game feauture but anyway.. if you do get some profit, 50% is mine ! No questions ! :nono:

Does this mean that those who won't pre-order will never get the Gallardo? Or does it mean that they're not able to drive it at the beginning of the game, but later on they can drive it, when they buy it? I don't understand, I'm confused...Can someone explain it to me please? Thanks in advance! :bravo:

We won't be able to use the Gallardo from the start. They can.

Gaskellorama
05-07-2006, 09:05
Offline will have the same starting races as online, but you just won't get the updates if ou don't get live!!

you can earn money racing against other online players but there will still be others like doing a sole lap around the island, i'm pretty certain every car you'll get offline and money you'll have when you play online, they'd be no reason why you can't!

Vibroboy
05-07-2006, 10:01
hold on folks.
I was reading the posts since I posted and I read plenty of wrong things..

There is no offline and/or online career.. There is the player career and that's all. You win money by :
- Win solo challenge (aka race, time attack etc.. we created and that are SINGLE PLAYER only)
- Win an instant challenge with someone AND because both player have set the stake ofr a bet.. but in that case, it's transfering money from one account to an other.
- Sell a car on E-Trade for a lot more than it cost you to buy (or win ?)
- Put a custom challenge online that is that good that everybody want to play it and pay a fee at the entrance (collect a % of the fee at the end of the week, rest of the fee + reward goes to the winner of the challenge)
- Be the best of a custom challenge (read above)

The first possibility is by far the fastest and the best.. Because it's tuned in the game progression and in relation with your achievements and game level.

That means that at rookie level, you won't have much SOLO races you can enter in and win with a Gallardo.. Because at rookie level, you are supposed to have low power car. And the only races you can win have their reward set for rookie level (woooooooot 5k $ I r rich !! NOT !).

So, what's the point of those bonus cars ??
Showing off ONLINE :)
Because those bonus car are not available in showroom..
Yup that's right.. People that pre-order will get cars other won't be able to buy in showroom....Ouch !! stop sending me rocks !! it hurts !!
Those bonus cars will BE AVAILABLE in showroom via marketplace download sometimes after the release. And not all Gallardo are bonus cars, only the coupe one, so you can still own an other one as second car if you want (you are free to spend you hard earned cash as you want... an enzo or a car that will allow you to win next level race and win more cash ?? s'up to you mate :) )

stalker700
05-07-2006, 11:54
Thanks for clearing that all up :) Now my plan of getting rich will work again! Victory is mine!

Gaskellorama
05-07-2006, 12:13

Sadly yup.
But there are more car you guys never spoted in your car list available on the Dvd :)
And via marketplace download, you'll be able to download a lot more in the months following the release.
That allows us to finish a few cars and add new brand and to have recent cars as car manufacturers unveil em :)
It's not that bad. You'll have on DVd lots of cars to play with and many more available for download. We didn't give up on some brand.
Once the game will be out, we hope some manufacturer will change policy :)

I pre ordered mine from play.com last night, so i will have the Gallardo to show off and drive around in, as I'd get fed up with something like a Audi TT, i would crave for more BHP and Torque to have some fun.

I hope you can choose the colour, i want mine in Yellow with the Black / Yellow two tone interior. :)

1) They could easily go to a Lambo dealer and buy one.
2) They can't afford anything.

As Vibro has posted earlier, this Lambo won't immediately be in the dealerships along with some other Gallardos???

i have a feeling it's going to be very real world, i.e if a manufacturer make 100 cars, that's all that will be released online

craigie22
05-07-2006, 20:13
yeah but say 100,000 people play online and they all want a car but there is only 100 in circulation. That is a bit unfair. These cars will sell for millions and then some people (like me) will pay millions for a car and then keep it and not sell it so thats one less car to be sold. Eventually you won't be able to buy them. Also its unfair on the new people to the game

stalker700
