Any explanations? I've read the reports about the US having a reduced price, but not the UK but nowhere have i seen an actual reason...

There are four pages of digust on the Xbox.com british forums and many people refusing to pay the higher price.

Can anyone from a mod/atari guy comment?

Nice flame, i see one other thread.

From the rest of your posts i've seen (I dont care how many you've made, how popular you are etc...) you are mistaken.

I asked a question, not expecting abuse.

Nothing nice to say? Keep it shut

Across the the whole of the IT industry the US get everything at a Dollar to Pound ration more or less.

it's all about economies of scale, if you can sell more the prices will come down, unfortunately as the US have a much larger population than the UK, they can afford to come to the market with a cheaper game.

Atari doesn't just work as one big company, Atari US, Atari UK.... are all individual companies that come under the umbrella of Atari, all responsible for their own profits, if the US know they can make their profit target by selling the game for $39.99 they will, they'll sell more faster, but the UK because of the lower demand, might not be able to afford to take that cut in profits by selling the game at a lower price.

If your that bothered by it just move to America, or take on another paper round

If you guys looked at the price of accomodation in the US compared to the UK you'd get a heart attack. Then you'd really feel ripped off.

Do you guys in the US want to know how much is small one bedroom flat in London? Average price is £180,000, ie approx $270,000. That's a smallish place, not centrally located, no sign of luxury.

Life doesn't cost the same all over the world, I'm afraid we've got to put up with it.

Nope, I can't comment and won't comment in any other more specific way regarding this issue, it's not my place to do it.

wow how does anyone afford to live in the uk, my house costs me less than my car payment, which my car payment is almost 1200 a month. LOL. how much do people make over there like I make $45,000 dollars = 24,000 pounds at my job. (which is a middle manager, which means I do nothing)

craigie22
27-07-2006, 12:33
the average is £19,000 i think.

houses are too expensive in the UK and most people end up living with their parents until they are in their late 20s.

that is just insane. houses in california aren't even that bad. you can still get a house in la a small 900 and some cubic feet (for about 500K). no wonder so many people are homeless. I'm glad I won the lottery.

craigie22
27-07-2006, 12:43
my house is worth £380,000 and its only a small 3 bed

davie18

I lived in a big 5 bedroom 2 years ago and that sold for £180,000, if I lived in London I bet it would been for like £800,000. My area ain't worth much :noooo:

tdu12
27-07-2006, 12:46
damn, America looks so much better know. Sorry but your prices are insane. I know you have free health care but I'll take paying 400 a month for mine and my cheap *** 600 a month house

You cant really call our heal care free, with how much tax we pay..

tdu12
27-07-2006, 12:48
yes I know, nothing is free. heck on the 10 million I won I only have to pay 3.5 million in state and federal taxes, its over a 20 year period. so I'll get around 300K a year and I still work.

Everyone always tells me the lottery was just a stupid people tax, well I'm so stupid for playing it right. lol

davie18
27-07-2006, 12:51
For our lottery, it something like only 50% goes back to the people, about 5% goes to good causes, then mainly the rest for the government to spend on what they want.

Did you win 10 million? weirdblue

tdu12
27-07-2006, 12:54
yes over a 20 year period though, I could go to a company that would give me the whole face value minus 12%. but I can live off of 300K afer taxes a year just fine

craigie22
27-07-2006, 12:54
my areas pretty expensive

you can't buy a shed for 180,000 here :(

I think it's something like average income is £19,000 and the average house is now around £140,000, meaning it's very difficult to get a mortgage or for a first time buyer to be able to buy a house, i.e 5 X salary still doesn't reach the average house price!!

the_gaming_guy
30-07-2006, 09:58
We bought a house in Reading, UK in the mid '90s for £60k (Apprx.)

We sold it in 1999 for £80k. It is now worth over £200k despite the fact that the area has gone DOWNHILL.

I now live in Northampton and my house has more than doubled in price since 1999. But so has everyone elses.....

TheAngel
30-07-2006, 10:37
If I were rich, I´d go to Gumball every year... Now I can´t really, the price is like £40000 I think. Well, I could do it, but that would mean selling something like my house in Lapland...

(Just packed my Xbox360... Leaving tomorrow mdr1 )

davie18

The most expensive was the last one, £30,000. It was only that much cause I think they took the cars on planes, they started in London and ended up in Las Vegas I think.

TheAngel
30-07-2006, 11:22
I think I read their website, and it said that for beginners it´s £40000, and if you have entered it before, it´s "only" £30000

who cares? its only 20 quid more. And everyone goes on about this game including me! as if its the best thing since sliced bread and i agree with that so therefore we should get our moneys worth times a thousand. Even if this game was 70 pounds i would still buy it. Who cares about stupid americans they can stick there cheap games and houses for all i care. They spend most of their money on burgers anyway.

C'mon guys, pull yourselves together.

The game will be £40. No questions. No problems. We can still get it. We can still enjoy it. Atari could do with some extra money. (to make a sequel) tonguegre

Yeah, who cares if the US gets it a bit cheaper ? I think most of us here was prepared to pay full price before we heard about that, so why dont do it now ?

Someone with 5.4million, and 130k a year, you should get yourself a F430 and be done with, trust me (and i mean trust me), you wont regret it. :)

If your changing the engine, look at the small block V8s with the larger block insides. You can have a true 7litre V8 producing over 600bhp (then put the twin turbos on top). We are getting a 7litre V8 640bhp for our GT40 :bravo: :)

Send me some pictures when its all done :) Z06 is a nice car, had a good look at one at Goodwood F.O.S.
