It shows you boarding the plane until you arrive. You have $200,000.
You then rent a car, buy a house from the realtors and then buy either an Audi A3, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet SSR or an Alfa Romeo GT.
You then race.
You can customise your character in any way.
You are free.

It's a sandbox-game.

The threads that have gone on for pages and pages usually have resulted in someone getting banned. Usually a series of inflammatory statement, personal attacks, and heated tempers.

The only thread of multiple pages that has actually managed to stay roughly on topic, hasn't contained senseless arguing and bickering, and has genuinely contributed to the forum is the "Exclusive review of TDU" thread.

Well Pegse, you cant really get 100% completion. There will be new cars added every month, and I heard there will be new missions added as well, so the game will keep getting bigger and bigger.

I'm not really sure this game would be measured in any way that would even give you a completion percentage. Others will correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have understood, it will become somewhat never-ending, or at least until the fan following dies away. Since everyone can create a challenge and publish this online for others to attempt the supply of new races should essentially be endless.

I guess you could say once you own ALL the cars and bikes and have bought every house available at the estate agencies you could consider yourself finished...? Though that actually raises some interesting questions.

I though I saw a cap once on the number of houses you could own. Was that the most you can own, or the max houses available? That could help to pin down a "storyline progression" of sorts.

Also, if it is only the most houses you can own are you then able to sell old properties which have small garages in preference for another mansion with a ten car garage?
