I'm getting an XBOX 360 tomorrow! with PGR3! YES!
Umm....does it still come with one month free Gold? And does it expire exactly a month after purchase?
I'll still be playing on a 21" old TV but it'll still look good!

Well done.
Get yourself a warranty as well because you never know. I am on my fourth 360 and paid for a three year store warranty. If your in the US I think a warranty is essential considering that the standard over there is only three months.

Good for you! Hope u injoy gaming. Yes it expires 1month after, get live straight away. Also you will need to get microsoft points from the store ( to get the cars in PGR3 )

I chose the Ariel Atom. Sets you off on a very good road to sucess. I now believe I could kick anyones ***... (doubt its because of the Atom though, but still..)

Graphics arent that good (Specially trees), pretty damned funny and its enjoyable.

It is, I must say. I´ve been just hanging out with my girlfriend, she has been teaching italian to me, we´ve been drinking cold drinks :) ... And now I just came to my computer, and installed the WLAN-card I bought today, because this building has the WLAN...

Nothing special about having four, my nephews just got his fourth. My other nephew is still on his first and some people have had more than 6.
There was a very good site that had a lot of info about the particular faults, but the guy running the site has accidently deleted his database due to spam posters. But my case is not unique.
Hopefully Microsoft has sorted out some of the problems and recently manufactured ones should hopefully perform better.
But I think an extended warranty is worth it. Mine was £40 for three years.

Don't you think if you have had 4 or 6 it is just because you are careless? Since I heard it had heating problems, I have been careful, doing stuff like not putting it in a cupboard when playing on it.

Thats the same response every time, I was waitng for someone to blame the user.
Here's the thing, I have mine well ventilated and the only thing I have done with it is switch it on and put a disc in and play it nothing more nothing less.
In my particular case I have not even played it a great deal I am lucky if I get 3-5 hours a week on it, heck my gamer score is only 600 points.
The first one I got from Game started locking up within an hour of playing it, just a glitch with the game I thought so I tried it the next day with a different game and it did the same thing. Took it back to Game thinking I would get my money back, they would not replace it or give me a refund and said to send it back to Microsoft (this is Feb 06 when there was a short supply in the shops).
Fair enough I thought and got in touch with Microsoft. About 8 days later I received what looked like a brand new 360.
I connected it up and started going through the set up process when the screen went black and the console stayed on, I reset the console, switched it back on and got three red lights.
I was absolutely fuming at this, and tried it a few more times with the same result, three red lights everytime.
Got back on to Microsoft and made sure they gave me a reference number to give to Game so that I could get my money back. Took it back to Game and got my refund.
The following week I was in Comet and asked if they had any 360's in stock, they had none, but were expecting some the following week. I paid a deposit and picked up my third 360 the following Tuesday and also paid for a three year warranty.
My third 360 would not play any original Xbox 1 games and I could not download any demos, it was a faulty hard drive so I got the hard drive replaced at Comet.
All was well and I was starting to get on with some gaming, then I bought Table Tennis and my console starting crashing again and within a couple of days it would crash within seconds, freezing at the start up screen.
Took it back to Comet and after a fair bit of hassle they replaced it with a new one a few days later. That is the one that I have now but it runs far hotter than my previous three so I have bought a Nyko Intercooler in the hope that it will prolong its life span. I got my fourth a few weeks back but with the warm weather I have hardly played it.
I have not abused anything I own in any way that should cause it to fail. I am old enough to know how to look after things and have never had an electronic piece of equipment give me as much trouble as the 360 has.
If I had bought a particular model of car and had two failures I would not buy that model again, but with consoles there is not a great deal of choice, the Nintendo Wii does not appeal to me and the PS3 sounds overpriced and may have just as much trouble as the 360 has had.
Whats was annoying at the time was the fact I had told my nephew not to buy one at launch and wait to see if there was any problems. Well he bought his at launch and when I got my third he was still on his first.
When the March update came out his started failing, he took it to Currys (who seem to have the better customer service at this point) and they give him a new one straight away, he got home connected it up and it failed. He took that back and they give him another. His third one seemed great, it was much quieter than mine and ran so much cooler.
He plays it, I would say, about six hours a day maybe more but last week it just stopped reading his game discs, and once again Currys replaced it without any hassle(hows that for service) although they would not give him his hard drive back so he lost his saved games.
My other nephew got his 360 in March and his is still working perfect.
I guess I have been unlucky, but unless it happens to you its hard to understand the frustration and annoyance of the problem.
Sorry for such a long post but I doubt I could explain it with anything shorter.
Well I know how you feel now, because I don't feel sorry for people who are careless with them, they deserve what they get.
I have had no trouble with my 360, apart from it use to crash a lot on PGR3, I think this was a game issue, and after a game update it was completely stopped.
I actually had more trouble with my original xbox. I went through 2, the first one had about 20 FPS on all games, don't know what happened there. I got it replaced on the spot at Argos, so I was a happy customer :)
I hope it doesn't break down anymore :wink:

I think the fact that there is so much technology packed into a small area which can easily be affected by heat is probably the main problem.
Hopefully Microsoft has improved the production process and quality so that its less of an issue with more recently manufactured ones. :)
But I thought the £40 warranty was a bargain, I just wish Comet was as easy going as Currys were for my nephew.

To be honest, i dont keep mine in an extremely well ventilated place, but it gets enough air but atill feels hot...
ive had it since january i thin kand no problems as of yet, sounds like you guys are just unlucky :noooo:

i played one at a mates house the other day, and spent ages appreaciating the graphics of PGR3, you really notice the gratness after almost 4 months of Live for speed and dreamcast games

Well they are changing the cpu, which will be the same speed, but will use less power and will produce less heat.

Oh Yes!!! I just heard that I got the single room instead of the double room (I was willing to pay rent for the whole double room, just to have some privacy with my girlfriend :nuts: )
But now that I only have to pay 250€/month for the single room (instead of 500€ for double room), I´m gonna go buy myself a nice tv... I was thinking about 28" widescreen.. It´s not like my 32"HD LCD in Finland, but it´s something...

I think its because i find the track really boring. And i havent had much practice on it. Street racing, i just like the quick action factor to it. And you can do a lot of races in a short amount of time. I think pgr2 being a harder game helps me to be good aswell.

whilst is is a heap of bum on the street racing tracks the immense grip it gives is really helpful on the nuremburgring

Can you not? I can do that without a problem. The nurburgring is the easiest track on the game. Mind you, that may be cause 70% of the races on pgr2 were on the nurburgring.

I had played my x360 for 10 hours straight on nfsmw. And it did good becuase is didnt freeze one bit. Which was good. Also does anyone know if the premiums over heat more than the core. Because ive only got the core.

I don't think it matters if its a Core or a Premium.

Always nice to hear that someone new has Xbox360 and PGR3... Unfortunately I can´t play on live, since in this apartment I have Wlan but I don´t have the wireless network adapter to X0. And the tv in here has no scart...
But in a few weeks when I´ll get my own room from the same building, I´ll buy myself a tv, and the wireless adapter... And then everything is like they were a week ago :) Except that the tv won´t be LCD, and it´ll be smaller than my 32" in Finland...
