Now that's just silly. I can understand a $200,000 Gallardo, but c'mon, the top car in the game? Well, it's the 1st 5,000 pre-orders, but still....5,000 McLarens running around? :mefiant:

im not going to get any i think it would make the game less fun because
you wouldnt have to hire a car
you would have to choose a slow first cars
you would be in the higher class races already what is the skill in that
and you would have a nice car and still have money for another one whats the point

The e-mails on how to unlock the cars are supposed to come on the day when the game is released wherever you are. Afterwards, the e-mail should tell you how to access it from the marketplace.
Would you have to pay for this car online, if you did not pre-order this from game.

I believe just around or less than a quarter of the people have Xbox Live, but yeah, I agree. I planned on getting a decent car before going online, and seeing somebody with a McLaren F1 would really suck.
That's sort of a problem with racing games in general, sooner or later, everybody will just use the faster car in the game. In PGR3 online, everybody used the Enzo in class B, in class E, everybody used the F355 and so on. It wasn't much fun for the people who really liked cars and wanted to drive say an Aston Martin DB9 because it looks sexy.. Also who likes driving the same car all the time.
If that happens, we should gets some guys from these boards to do some racing with some of the slower cars. I know you can select if you want to do a certain car only event online, I played the demo, but as far as the demo went, it was either ALL cars or just a single car. I'd like to race with a few different kinds of slow cars.

so does it mean if you pre order from there then when you download it and everything will it be in your garage
piemaster007

No you'll have to pick it up from the dealership.
so you don't have to buy it
piemaster007
13-08-2006, 17:38
From what I've heard DLC will be free to buy in the game, but you have to pick each individual car up from the dealership (like taking delivery).
I've just pre-ordered from Game, but how good is the £1.50 delivery times?
Because I did the Express - 1 business day delivery.
But I looked on Wiki, and it said this guys:
Official Vehicle List for Initial Release > McLaren F1
So I take it, we will not have to use are in-game cash to buy this car at all by the sounds of it. But then again, my Mum and Dad is buying TDU for me as an early birthday present.
KoenigViper
14-08-2006, 01:19
This will most likely be free like the Gallardo. I think it'll be the DLC when you download it, you may have to buy it in-game too.
This will most likely be free like the Gallardo. I think it'll be the DLC when you download it, you may have to buy it in-game too.I've just emailed Atari to get any info, on how the code for this game will work, but by the sounds of it we may not have to pay for the car in-game with the code, because codes are meant to unlock stuff.
KoenigViper
14-08-2006, 01:23
By that, yeah, because you pre-ordered, you get a free car.
I mean when DLC starts being released, you may still have to pay with in-game cash.
Honestly, I'd kinda rather see
Free DLC->In-Game cash to buy
than
Costly DLC->Free in the game.
But the McLaren F1 is not in a booster pack, because its in the Initial Release. However we need some Atari rep to help us out in this topic?
Crazed_Dodgem
14-08-2006, 01:31
i think you do actually get it free in the game, i expect it will be availible to download exclusively to game customers for about a month after the game is launched, and then F1 will be in the following car download pack in october.
Didn't you hear me, the McLaren F1 is in the game right away, and look here:

Going to have a hard time selling from start though you could say everyone will be pratically skint after car and house purchase. lolblue:
Personally i wont be touching the gallardo im getting will lock it up takes away the challenge.
Edit: I was talking about online auction can sell it outside of that i think but who is to know maybe locked.
Crazed_Dodgem
14-08-2006, 02:08
i will use my gallardo, no doubt, however not for challenges, i will probably use it to visit/unlock the island (and its car dealers) because when you visit every car dealer you can then buy bikes, and after beating a mustang in a triumph motorbike at the atari event, i know how important bikes are in the game,
yes i could unlock the whole island in an audi TT, but if i did then people would think i was an easy target, because most people will do their first races at the southern end of the island so they can buy a better car from one of the car dealers, then they explore the island in their fancy new car, i doubt many people will explore in their starter car first, then race to buy a new car, which will mean i will be one of few innexperienced racers up north, and if i'm in an audi TT then i will get no end of flashing headlights in my mirror from racers in better cars who have been online for longer. if i'm in a gallardo then i shouldnt have the 'take advantage of noob' situation
KoenigViper

but it would be cheating really because the best bit of the game is building your skills and your garage to there best but getting the fastest car in the game to start of with is silly they might aswell start showing you the credits , the first races are agaisnt slow cars its abit silly dark: :nono:
KoenigViper
14-08-2006, 10:48
They aren't in the same class, so you can't use the car to begin with unless you either find a race with the same class of cars, or challenge someone online.

anyway, using a supercar will possibly save you 2 hours over if you did it in an entry level sports car, its just i find 1063 miles in an Audi TT could get kinda tedious, if you decide to play silly buggers and put the throttle down in a TT you get a steady grumble from infront of you, do it in a gallardo then you get a wonderful screm from behind you, and a huge lunge from the car. anyway, i would much prefer to go through a tunnel in a gallardo over a TT anyday
what is the engine like on the mclaren F1
what is the engine like on the mclaren F1

The McLaren F1 has gold in the engine bay, to reflect heat better. But in real life the car costs £30,000 MOT after 6,000 miles, while a small piece of paint costs £75, and one tyre for the McLaren F1 costs £5,000 I think?

You're looking at 3.2 actually.
pegse, don't under estimate the owners. There's a huge deal of McLaren owners, who unlike some other supercar owners, drive their's for many miles. It's meant to be a usable supercar.
The engine comes from BMW, a S70/2, 6.1-liter, 48-Valved V12 speifically built for McLaren. McLaren had originally contacted Honda for such a powerplant. The car has the 627Bhp for the F1 Roadcar (the LM contains around 680Bhp making it the most powerful McLaren made during the production of 1993-1998), and goes through a 6-speed transaxle gearbox.
Anyone who happens to buy a used F1 nowadays, can contact the McLaren Building in Woking, and have the car completely rebuilt to their liking. There are only 64 models of this F1 variant.
