Alright here is the deal, not sure if anyone knows an answer to this but I'll start from the begining! I went to my cousins house and downloaded a bunch of demos (Prey Demo,Battlefield 2 Demo,FEAR demo) and brought them home...I got the Prey one to work, the Battlefield 2 one when I click it the screen goes black then back to the desktop (guess my GFX Card isn't good enough for it :noooo: ) but when I start the FEAR one it goes to the menu plays through the first cutscenes, shows a scene where people are talking (and I can look around and stuff,it's in game) but when it starts to load the first ACTUAL level where you get guns and stuff,it won't load at all!
I tried setting the specs to minimum but it had no effect (except the cutscenes and stuff looked crappy). Anyone else had this problem? Or is this a sign that my computer can't handle it? :noooo:
My graphics card isn't that bad....It plays Prey perfect! And my RAM meets the minimum requirements! (It's 512) hmmmm Thanks in advance to anyone that tries to help me! :)

Yeah the BF2 Demo wont load as a result of your lower-end graphics card...
Hmmm...
I'm not sure about the FEAR demo problem though... It is a very demanding game (spec wise) however... Sorry. :noooo:

Yeah...I thought my compy wasn't good enough, but I played in game and saw the cut scenes,so apparently I can play it! I dunno... :noooo:
I guess I'll have to get that Radeon 9200 that I was looking at.... Really didn't wanna get it this soon....
It'll struggle with a 9200......... :noooo:

Well I got to looking and Radeon X1300's are about my price limit....that should be ok,right?
A 9200 is as AGP card.
An X1300 is a PCI-E card.
Your motherboard will (probably) only have a slot for one or the other.
Which type of card do you need?
Theyre both budget cards, so dont expect bells and whistles... :noooo:
Review of the X1300 here............http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q2/budget-gpus/index.x?pg=1
Why don't you wait until the DX 10 cards come out, because when they do all top of the line DX 9 cards should get a big price drop.
and it's not that far away.
But the good DX9 cards will keep their price for a while..............and if he has AGP it wont matter either way..... :respect:

Where? :mefiant:
We are in 2020 right......?
They'll be cheap when 8800 is released... knowing NVIDIA they will release the higher end card before the 8100... give it about a year or so.

Depends how quickly games demand higher specs. There has to be a limit... I mean, PS3 graphics are virtually perfect... once they get ported onto a PC game, theres nothing that I can imagine to beat it. :mefiant:

I just wanted to mention that 64bit Athlons have recently been cut by ..LOADS!. A balls out 64 bit Athlon MIGHT just allow you to play the game with a card at the lower end of your budget.Maybe.Perhaps not, but I like cheap processors :salut2:

Man I swear, these cards are expensive.... tonguegre
Just be sensible about it and shop around....theres always a new one every 6 months anyway, so no matter what you get there will always be something better just around the corner....... :noooo:
