OMG, that's just sick. Is it the same in RL? cos i never knew Oahu had such a huge traffic system. I bet it'll be confusing on the mini map too. Nothing but roads, lol.

**Insecure n00b drives up to the intersection, looks ahead, scratches his head, gets out of the car and runs around like a mad man trying to find his way**

WHERE ARE THE ROAD SIGNS eekblue:

That sounds pretty familiar lol. In Plymouth we just get pointless mini roundabouts or ... um, yeah about 1 or two proper roundabouts

I think The Netherlands wil lbe leading country in speedbumps... almost every neighbourhood has got like 10 of them atleast when it's located in a small town...
Thats indeed a bit a weird roundabout... i think a normal one would be much safer

craigie22
31-08-2006, 21:03
many accidents happen there

sadly even one with my car involved lol

ask ziggyzinc. He lives with a view of it!

marcogroenhof
31-08-2006, 21:11
hhmmm i can believe that...

I'll try to find a picture to show wehat happens if you drive too fast over a speedbump with a stock 06 avensis and a vid of the only way you can get over them with a exotic or lowered tuner...(wich is going from the one to the other side)

Insecure_n00b

Type in "BIRMINGHAM, UK" then find the intersection of the A38(M) and M6 motorways. at the north.

Just to let you guys know, that's the main cutoff from H-1 Freeway. (right next to the airport) The reason it looks so messed up is cause there are about three different main cut-offs (Dillingham, Nimitz, and up to Kamehameha Schools) and three main on-ramps. It's actually NOT that difficult to drive on, as coming up to it it's just a big ole' straight away. But I must admit looking at it from above does look like a mess....

Just to let you know also, I actually do live on O'ahu (Waipahu/Royal Kunia) and eagerly await this game. (mainly to see if they get the Waipahu Shopping Center right so I can ram into my store I work at a few times :)

HAHAHA nice one, welcome to the forums! Are you going to buy the same house you live in aswell?

Cu73B4k4
05-09-2006, 14:23
Freak no!! Why would I live in Kunia/Waipahu when I can live in Hawai'i Kai with the rest of the big rolleeeeeeeeers.....

Yeah... sorry I've actually been watching this game for awhile, it just dawned on me now to join the forums... (That and I wouldn't mind giving you guys as much info as I can about the real-life stuff here...)

I'm actually of the PC camp, so I guess I'll just twiddle me thumbs and wait...

Oh, and guranteed if they have this area in, you will all love it. Try to find "Tantalus" (going up above Down Town area, like Britania St. and stuff... I can try to find the exact route later...) and you will all love it. It's basically the equivalent to our "Touge Drift" area...very dangerous though and lots of cops go through busting guys...

I do know first thing I'm doing is loading it up and going up to see if my high school (Kamehameha Schools) is there...or at least the area for it... Those roads would be wicked for drifting too... (it's set in the side of the mountain right before going over to Kaneohe by H-3)

RacingRay
05-09-2006, 14:25
Cool stuff!
Maybe you can show me around in game for some sweet locations ;)

Is there really a race track on Oahu?

EDIT: found Tantalus Dr on Google Earth, looks like a wicked slalom course :D

Cu73B4k4
05-09-2006, 14:42
Tantalus is indeed fun as hell, but just like a Japanese Touge would be, pretty scary too, not AS scary as a true Touge...(there is a mean 80 ish degree left turn, (less than an L shape) where theres only a concrete wall on the right leading to the houses and road above, and a drop on the left (inside the turn) Lots of hairpins too going up.

If you mean the Hawai'i Raceway Park, that closed down this year (in Feburary I think?) That was all we had. It was really small, 3/4 of a football field maybe? But they use to run all sorts of stuff out there, Drag, Drift, Time Attacks, etc. There were really mean Drift Sessions there, some guys came down from Japan and stuff for it. There were great cars, including and intresting little number that caught my attention, an RX-7 (FC-3S) that had an S2000 (AP1) engine in it, used for drifting.

They closed the Raceway cause of rent issues, and in hopes of crushing or minimizing the "street-racing" here, but really it just made it worse with nowhere for us to go.

They recently decided to revamp Aloha Stadium though to accomadte a mini raceway inside it, and my friend said he saw the first run of it. Haven't seen it myself though.

North Shore area would be an intresting drive through, right up along the mountain gazing out into the ocean...

Oh and you'll all love H-3 for it's straights to burn it up drag style.

But the one thing all my friends here eagerly await here to see, is how faithfully they recreate 5 o' clock traffic. (The one thing you learn to hate here) You'll all feel our pain at the fact that we have ONE freeway to feed all of Downtown to Ewa Beach. When everyone is going home at once on that little strip of concrete, it aint fun...

herr_lehmann
05-09-2006, 15:22
i don't think they'll recreate rush hour. ;)

traffic is already a bit less than in reality in order to safe framerate and bandwith (the position of AI cars also needs to be transferred in multiplayer mode...)

And to save the nerves of the gamers. I wouldn't see any fun not being able to race, but even be stuck in a traffic jam :(

Cu73B4k4
05-09-2006, 15:26
Yeah I know sadly... we just talk about it in a joking manner... would be hilarous though to be speeding down past the airport doing 100+ then hitting a metric ton of cars stuck on the off-ramps.... just like real life...yay!

Man coming to these forums made it worse for me...reading up on all the info I wanted to know, now I want it even more! But alas again I must sit around till the PC version pops out...grr...

Of course, I could always just drive on the real roads....

Yeah and thank God the speed limits arent the same either. (55mph on H-1 Freeway, leeway is 5mph above/under "legally," that's the fastest strip of land we got here...) If you do 100 the police have orders to actually break off the pursuit...

For locals, you can cut through to your destination. For tourists, it's the long way round. It's also quite quick moving.
