The account that is free that you get with the 360 can you access all the online features in all games or just a few features.

I don't think so, I'm sure I just read in the FAQ over at the xbox forums that you need a Gold membership.

Silver Memberships include everything Gold doesn't except online multiplayer.

This is how it should read:

Silver Memberships include everything Gold does except online multiplayer.

Dont mean to be off topic, but does anyone know how to get on oblivion - x360 on xboxlive. Because its really confusing and it says in the manual that you can connect online, play with players, chat trade and so on....can some help please.
