well my xbox put a 1/4" scratch on my TDU game just now.... and based on the sound (which ive heard a number of times with a few different games) is that the spindle in the drive that spins the disc stops (and not just cuts power and slows, but stops like its got some brembos) and the momentum of the cd causes it to keep moving, and it "hula-hoops" (fascinating hawaiian reference there) around the spindle for a second, all the while floppping around and banging agains whatever is there for it to hit... Im making this asumption pased on the sound, and the fact what when it makes this sound, prior this this the disc is definitly spinning, and afterwar the console is silent... the game hang for a second... then i can hear the disc spin up again, and the game resumes. either that or the console remains silent, and i have to restart.
does anyone agree with this acertation? and anyone have a fix? or heard anything about this? ive called and emailed x-box CS, to no avail... i also posted in the technical support forum on xbox live, and my post never made it online.

Thats a good assumption to whats happening, but in my case only two games ever got scratched G.R.A.W. and Fight Night 3.
So it could be that some discs are ever so slightly off balance for whatever reason, and if the DVD drive is spinning like crazy trying to read the disc and suddenly halts, then discs that are off balance are more likely to scratch.
But thats just me guessing and the problem could just be iffy dvd drives?

Mine is not scratched yet but this game makes more noise than my others.

Any one whos had scratches with TDU can you check what model of DVD drive you have and report the result.

I think that link is up to date but not sure if a newer model has come out recently.
