Baker011, the Community Manager for the US forum, has organised a fun competition for TDU players and has very kindly offered to extend it to European forum memebers.
Go get him guys! :bravo:
To celebrate the launch of Test Drive Unlimited I will be running an event with a twist.
What do I do?
Find me (GT: baker011), run me off the road and then PM me here with the gamertag you used. I will be making a note of the gamertags that manage to do it.
Where?
I could be anywhere on the island, thats the challange!
When?
Tuesday 12th September, From 6pm EST to 7pm EST.
Whats the Prize?
Various bits of TDU merchandise we can find lying around the office.

Seems someone got some early practice in tonight and decided to shadow me and ram me off the road at every turn. I quite enjoyed it really but have to wonder just what I got myself in for :laugh:
Anyway, yeah its late for Europeans and actually its early for the Americans, I cant win, lol. It should be a good time though and if it is popular then I will be willing to do another one on a weekend, which should be timed better for everyone then. (May have to beg for more merchandise! Wonder if those nice UK TDUers will donate to my cause, Tenebra?)

I like this idea. It will be like having eight stars constant which you can't escape from easily. What makes it worse is the people giving chase are in super cars which can keep up. Good luck with that.

I'm an artist in the sublime art of pestering. I can give you a live demonstration on the forum on how good I am at it ;)
Definitely not an artist when it comes to drawing, if I had the time I'd entertain you with some sketching but I doubt it'll happen for some time.

Since I treat Customer Service people as human beings as they deserve and keep always chilled and polite, I usually get what I want and refunds as well *stares at solid oak booking shelves purchased from Habitat with a 50% discount for messed up delivery twice :)*
The trick is pester with a smile, no abuse but make your point clear. Your time is money, everybody understands that :)

But smiling, no sarcasm. It's common sense, would you help someone who's nice to you or someone who throws abuse? ;)

I take it you had to buy a hard drive for that? You did take the hard drive and stuff out of it first didn't you?

yep, i liked my core, but wanted to play old xbox games, so i needed a Hdd, there was a shortage at launch aswell, so i had to wait till february i think... (i never bought the original xbox, but nonetheless, i have 5 original xbox games, compared to 2 360 games)
yeah i did take my Hdd out
Ahh OK mate, my brother bought a standard pack and a HD as at the time it worked out cheaper for him or something. He sent his back with the HD still in and ended up having to buy another one. :laugh:
I chased this guy baker all over the map tonight but couldn't see him. I could see him on the map but couldn't see his car a lot of the times!

Seriously to all those who did take part tonight - well done! I think those who did manage to hit me will be talking about this for quite some time, I know I will be mdr1
I definately enjoyed the 80 foot high ride I took right at the end! Although I still cant believe someone followed me when I purposely drove towards the sea!
For those that couldnt take part I will try and make the next one on a weekend so time differences wont be too big a problem
If all those who think they rammed me off the road could PM me with there Gamer Tags I will check them off against the list I made.
I was just about to ask the same as restlesspoole.
Will this be run again sometime soon? Even though I didn't catch him head on was still a good laugh trying and it kept me entertained and cursing for an hour!!! :laugh:

I have mentioned in the US forum that I will do this again soon, I will also do it on a weekend next time so that I can hopefully give more people a chance to do it. Ended up playing this half an hour longer than I should have just to try and give everyone a chance to find me. But judging by my xbox live inbox there were a lot who were not able to find me.

As those who took part will tell you, I had a wide variety of cars in the event. Once I got found and abused by a group of people I would switch car and teleport to a different part of the island to allow other people to find me. Ranged from a Ferrari Enzo to a Jaguar E Type, had the most fun in my Jaguar XJ220 though!
It was hard to keep up with all the changes. Everytime I checked the Map you had a different car. Can't wait for the next one!

imagine if everyone who attacked baker011 gets the TDU equivilent of an A.S.B.O. ('anti-social behavior order' for our american friends) and a restraining order. :p
and imagine if someone who has a similar gamertag to Baker011 (e.g. Baker 0111), who didnt know about the ramming compotition was driving around oahu at the time, i can imagine the look on his face when enthusiastic forumers see red (or a gamertag that is similar to the one theyre looking for):nuts:

Its funny you say this because I discussed something similar with a friend. Someone I know has just got TDU and I thought it might be quite funny to put his GT instead of mine, certainly a warm welcome to the game for him tonguegre

Came across this clip (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8728745975831484174&q=tdu) in where people are trying to mug Baker. I love the Cannonball Run soundtrack on it, people who have seen that movie will enjoy the first minute. :)
I recieved by prize for this yesterday. Have to say a big thanks to Baker011!!!
