Yeah , ur rite, but where do they get these dates from??? Why would a major trusted site like play.com or gamespot post a date that is not in any way procured from atari??
Its stupid. If we all start saying its gonna come out On the 1st of october and tell gamespot aswell theyd put it on...
They shouldnt do that if its not official info.. just put TBA..
It might have come from Atari, you just don't know that yet though. I would agree that they shouldn't do it if it isn't official. It's bad business practice in my opinion. Time will tell if it is official, just wait for the anouncement man. :)

I have a feeling its true... well... tbh its good news... coz it will surely be polished more.. infact, even a november release date was early. First of all no beta has been released and secondly, no type of media has been realesed... meaining that the game is quite in its early stages. If the date is true, they may also have put it to february 07 just in case and may release it before that date, coz they can't not know exactly what problems might come up.
Although, I'm going to freak coz I don't have TDU, I still think its good news. At least we know that the devs care bout TDU PC as much as they do for the 360... YAY!!!!! :chapeau:
Oh and THANKS :atari: if you allowed eden to take all their time for the other platform versions of TDU.. (Usually games end up sucky coz publishers [like Atari, Ubisoft and Vivendi Universal] force the devs to release the game at a certain date even though it might not be finished and polished)

14-09-2006, 09:05
I dont know if the devs are as much 360 as pc lol. They got 2 demos and we got none. Also why is it so hard to port it to pc. Surely they dont have to do everything all over again. I mean they make the game for the 360 on pc lol . Cant they just port it and then optimize it?? As with the polishing yeah i agree , we probably wont have all the bugs that 360 users are getting now , so early from the games launch ...
Anyway im still a bit upset that i got my hopes up becuase my ebgames store said 1st of october..

nononoonononononon NO PORTS PLEASE.. wouldnt you rather wait then get an uplayable game !?!??! Let them take their time, so they release a perfectly polished game with stuff better than the 360 version! I assume we'll have a wide selection of graphics settings... we'll see.
Anyway... tenebra can you confirm the date please?
:) Tenebra can't confirm anything she hasn't been told she can by Atari, chances are, within 10 mins of being told she can tell the community, it will be here.
Does anyone know why that happens sometimes. The cursor is at the end of the post and I hit the smilie which it then puts at the beginning of the post. Happens on other forums too.

If you see under "more", you'll notice that US will hopefully get their game in october, Europe will get it in november and Australia will get it some time next year (maybe february)... :mefiant:

But... we haven't heard anything official from Atari, so let's hope that we will get it before christmas :atari:

If this is the case they've lost me, Can't stand companies that only care about 1 group of gamers.
coz it will surely be polished more..
optimist.
imo Microsoft payed Atari to secure the 2 month exclusitivy of this title so they could sell more consoles (xbox360) and get a descent line up of games and gamers before PS3 and Wii come out. Atari isnt the richest publisher, so selling exclusivity is an easy and fast way to make money. That said, if PC version will be more then just a simple port with limited download content and multiplayer I will be surprised, I ve been lied to many times to hope for something better.

Same here.. ahhh i cannot wait to take pics of my skyline ... If i play Ug2 like everyday, just cruising, i think i wont have a social life anymore when tdu comes out..
Italian Atari site also says February 2007.
For me there is sense in releasing game in N. America/Europe in october/novmber and then wait for more than 3months for Australia, but since Atari has certain problems with TSU on XBox maybe it could delay PC release date since they are more focused now on getting those issues fixed. I believe that they thought that they can focus on PC version after releasing XBox version, but due to the difficulties with XBox I don't think that is the case right now.

You don't need the social life if you have TDU.

I'm also very curious if for example game.co.uk invented a release date and play and all the others just copied it lol... :S

It seems plausible that EBgames is quoting the AU and non Euro/US release date, while Tenebra is quoting the Euro/US release date. This theory seems to account for both quoted dates
To add something further, i am dissapointed that Australia and New Zealand are once again left in the cold.
What sort of spec do you think would be needed to run this game on a PC?
Need at least a 256mb gfx card?
Hoping my Dual Core 2.6 (5.2) with 1 GB RAM will be enough.

16-09-2006, 17:04
Yea id say at least 256 mb vga card as the world is massive everywere and theres allot of textures to load up.. Ur cpu is allright and the Ram is too , unless its some cheap ram but thats still ok. The main thing u should focus on is a good video card. Remember it doesnt matter if its 256 or watever, its the clock speed and the ram speed on the vga card and how many pipelines it has. A 128 mb card can be better than a 256 one.
And just because you get say an X1800 it doesnt mean its better than a X800. :)

my PC will handle TDU until i'll upgrade ? :noooo:
actual specs : Amd Sempron 3000+ 754sk, 512mb ddr400mhz, Asus 6600 128mb 128bit 300mhz/550mhz

I posted a requirments speculation some time ago... ill repost it...
Most probabbly, the PC version will have quite a wide range of graphics settings... I forgot where, but they said that they are going to make the game available to as many ppl they can so the minimum requirments shouldn't be that high.
There may also be some more advantages from the 360 version, like able to set larger view distances, beefy PCs will also be able to handle higher amounts of traffic... I'm sure that, texture filtering and anti-aliasing will also be adjustable... meaning that textures can be seen sharper from far away... and if you have a graphics card which is able to support Anti-Aliasing + HDR and turn up Antisotropic Filtering to bout 8x... you can enjoy the beauties of Oahu even more
I think the following will be the minimum requirements (nothing official... just a personal Speculation)...
Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows XP 64-bit, Windows Vista
512MB System RAM
2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
128MB Direct3D compatible video card Supporting DirectX 9.0 (I don't think DirectX 8 will be supported)
DirectX 9.0c Driver
DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
Supported Video Card Chipsets:
ATI X1900 series
ATI X1800 series
ATI X1600 series
ATI X1300 series
ATI X850 series
ATI x800 series
ATI x700 series
ATI x600 series
ATI Radeon 9800 series
ATI Radeon 9700 series
ATI Radeon 9600 series
ATI Radeon 9500 series
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 series
NVIDIA GeForce FX series
Thats what I think the min specs will be...

Well i had a 9600XT 256 mb before and it ran HL2 on full detail , maxed out 16XAF/6XAA and i got around 45 fps. Theyr good cards for theyr age. Trust me a 9600 should run TDU , but just not on high.

No, what she said was November TBC.
Normally this means to be confirmed which means it is not definite. It also doesn't mean November 1st.
What it does mean is that it is currently expected to be released in November though not firm enough to release officially.

You never know how flexible the game is going to be. Take F.E.A.R for example. Looks completely awesome on high detail and on low it really , honestly , looks like Virtua cop lol . Even my mate with his X300 can run it.
But major pixelation. Anyhoo you never know how low you can go with the settings.
edgegamer
16-09-2006, 17:51
exactly... the requirments I posted are quite similar to Oblivion... tbh if it can run oblivion it runs tdu...
About the release date...
I don't want to trash Atari, but here's what I think situation is:
I believe that relesae date was scheduled to be November TBC, but due to the problems with XBoX version, it'll be delayed for a later date. Now, these sites probbably did get informations from Atari, but Atari won't release official infomation. Why? Because some people who are waiting for this game for more than six months now would simply give up waiting. Therefore I think that in mid October or begginig of Nevember we'll recive informations that will say that release date is delayed for January or February.

no, its rubbish. firstly, not everybody at eden is working on patches for the xbox, especially since the vast majority of the problems has to do with the servers.
secondly, just because they work on patching the xbox version for two weeks does not mean that the PC version will be delayed for four months.

the feb date could be possible. Another reason for feb 07 might be a sales fight with Need for speed: Carbon that will go out on the 1st/2nd of november on all systems. The NFS:C date is 100% final, since we all know that EA pushes the titles into relese even if they have bugs.

If February is actual release date, then it's really possible that I'll cancel my preorder.
I mean... this is not the way that one serious company like Atari should behave. If they said: "Release date won't be until February due to the...", I would be satisfied. Any kind of information would be much apprechiated (even if not good one), and than I could say OK, it is delayed till February, but at least I know that they care.
At this time without screenshots, videos, release dates, informations about requirements etc. it looks like they simply don't care about the PC users (and I think that PC users are much lerger market then XBox users esspecially if requirements will have a larger scale of verieties).
Some games (publishers, developers) state their exact release date sometimes even a year earlier, and two months before it should be released (November TBC) we still don't know will it be released or no. :nono:
Hmmm If Tenebra doesn't know the PC release date, from what source they know??
On the Atari main site it says Oct TBC

I would rather believe this then play.com

Well tbh i dont really care on the release date, sure it will be great if it could be this year but things take time to get right.
They cant clap hands and make the game works perfectly...
I just wish that the PR work from Atari would work, and they could post some info about whats happening... this is if they have a PR ^^
I think it is true, if you look at the bottom of the Official Test Drive: Unlimited site you'll notice it is for; Xbox 360, PC DVD-ROM and PlayStation, but which PlayStation I'm not sure, immediately I thought it's gotta be the PS3 but it has the PS2 "Broadband Only" logo so I dunno..hope it's PS3 cause the PS2 will not do this great game any justice...
Anyway I think it's just a time-limited exclusive for the 360, cause the game never got a "Only on Xbox 360" badge on it so been released on other platforms is inevitable ;)
