It's kinda borked right now eekblue:
Atari identified a problem which has led to unexpected cars appearing and progression being lost. In order to resolve this, the E-trade system has been temporarily deactivated. You cannot currently trade vehicles with other players, although you can still sell your vehicles via the direct selling option. The problem is being dealt with as a priority, they are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
We just have to have a little patience :) :) :)

Seems like a pointless idea the car trade thingy. You can't really customise cars enough to make it worth it? The only thing that makes it worthwile is the unlockable cars, but then most people will just unlock them anyway?
If there were more unique one-offs like the Mclaren F1 LM then I can see it being cool... Or if the game had a better customisation device (like in Forza) where you could tweak the cars engine and gear ratio's etc, then I can see that it would be worth buying somebody elses car. I think this is just a pointless add on.
If it was up to me I would have added petrol Stations to the free-ride mode. Having to worry about fuel whilst cruising around would have been great. And also they could have disabled it for some of the longer races if they wanted to so you wouldn't have to stop to fill up.

You only get 50% of the car value with direct sale. With trading to other people you could get more than that and the other person would get a good deal compared to showrooms. Especially since cars don't degrade.
