Hi everyone, I'm struggling to find the best settings for the "Driving Aids" Which out of the settings do you feel make the cars handle as they should? It's either "too little" or "too much" with them most of the time...............

i use different settings for my cars, im not very sure whether this is right, but this is how i see it-

driving aid- a bit less spin on the back wheels (i use it on my 430)
off - well, normal basically, best for drifting in the Skyline R34
sport - best for speed, makes my cars do 210+
hypersport - erm, not really sure about that one, its quite the same as sport but considering its 'hyper' sport then i guess it must be better :hin:

i use driving aid on most of my cars, just makes less spin and stops you going out of control.

not sure whether there is any more, cant remember lol

hope it helps :)

Off completely, too arcadey with anything else imo.

I usually just leave it on sport all the time, but if anyone has any official info in what each of them actually do i'd really appreciate it :)

They all rob your wheels of power. But so does spinning tires, so it depends on how good of a driver you are. Try doing a short time trail with different settings to get the feel for each. Sometimes drifting the corner is faster than having the AID slow you down when you start to slip.

I leave it off, and anyone who joins my multiplayer games leaves it off too :)

agreed... thats why i like the driving aid selections in gt4... some cars were just too insane not to have ANY traction control. on those i set the TCS to 1, too keep them from loosing grip if the tires left the road for a half second... im asuming that the driving aid in this game is somewhat all encompasing.. ie, none of the settings add just a touch of traction control.

All my cars I have no driving aids on....except for my tuned Koni which is a beast to handle eekblue: A bit too much gas, even on a straight at 200Mph and the back end just slides out  . So I have Hypersport on that. Which helps..... a bit.

First thing I did when I got control in the game was turn them off and the steering sensitivety quite a bit less (5 notches from the left).

Haven't changed them back yet.

Exactly the same here mate, been using that setup since demo #1 in fact, imo it gives more weight to the car when turning and with the aids off makes all the cars great fun to drive.

M8 you need to drive a mitsy evo. I worked at a mitsubishi garage a while back. so i got to drive alot of the cars that we had in. As we were a ralliart dealer we had Evos in all the time. Most were 300 or 400 which was nice. i took out the 300 once, boss wanted a maccy-dees and let me take it out. So when it was out i gave it some licks round some country roads. True there is no evo in the game, but the cars i have driven in this game really do make you feel that you have traction control etc on or off. This is what the evo was like. Safe with it on but on edge. Off it felt like i was ment to die there and then. Im not a racer even though my dad was a rally co-driver in the 80s (chris robinson) with tony pond..lol. so when it came to handling i wasnt truely convident at ragging the evo without traction control. but i did turn it off and gave it some licks. **** end was out and wheels just light up the tires when i put my foot down. This is what its like in TDU. it doesnt have one bit of arcadey feel in the game. Arcadey means computer it helping. Not, the true conding emulates your aspect on the game making you feel like its on. then off. This is what TDU does so well. It emulates the traction control, ABS style systems all these things. It doesnt slow down for you when coming up to a corner. When slowing down with the driving aids on. It feels like the wheels are dampering more hense giving you the feel or actual driving aids. TDU is brilliant with these little things. Better and more realistic feel then GT on dirty playstation.

BUT im commenting on a car which isnt in the game. And the cars i have driven in this game are supercars which in life i will never get to drive. So you could be right when it comes to this if you have driven supercars in real life.

I've driven my mates Evo VI before, I know what you're saying about the TCS in that car the control is unbelievable, it really does make you a god when driving, nearly impossible to spin but off the car seems to say "reeeheeehheheeeeallllly" (say like ace ventura) but I really do know what you mean. As for the game, magicfr and Vibroboy (devs) have said you can have it as you like it, as an arcade or as close to sim as you would like. I like the Top Gear approach, balls to the wall, hell hath no fury, suddenly becoming stationary kills you approach... ie fun for me.

The other settings imo limit me, I don't have real control over the car, I want to floor it and powerslide (yes not drift) round that hairpin, I want to shift the weight and get the rear out and risk it coming round, smacking me and giving me a bloody nose and laughing while it does.

Amen brother i know what you mean...lol. I just had a quick spin on full aid. I cant believe the diff between all the aids. The skyline is the only car which i can imagine i could relate to. Switched on full - Its like the road is made of rubber aswell as the tyres. But the further you go down the list the more it feels like the road turns to ice for the back end. I never really gave driving aid any thought as i have it off or hypersport depending on the car. But when switched to full id say your right. It felt like daytona USA in the arcades back in the 90s...lol

Thanks for all your replies. I was wondering if anyone has any more information on the various levels of the driving aids, and how they differ? It would be interesting to know just what each setting does............

Here's a test for you, find a car park you can circle round, grab a fairly quick car, turn the wheel and gradually accelerate, notice with Driving Aids and Sport the car sticks to the circle, now Hypersport gives you some deviations out of the circle but generally it's controllable. Now do it with off, tail happy eh ?

If you like to drift then you need sport or hypersport as a slide is so easy to control but it feels boring, if you like a challenge turn them off and now it's you who have to control the car not the game. ;)

This is very true. I am 1 all for no driving aids but sometimes, with a powerful car and no driving aids, it's like wrestling with a wet slippery bar of soap  which actually is rather quite fun

cant you pick a car then put that thing on if you press left twice and find out the performance? and try out all of the driving aid settings.

I find you have more control over the car without driving aids, as silly as it sounds.

If you drove a real zonda at 200mph, the tail end would squirm a bit and you would probably spin it. In that, I think the game has it pretty good with no aids.

From standstill, if you floor the gas in a performance car, you will light up the tires. You need to be gentle on the gas until you get some traction with the wheels before you can power on properly. That's part of the skill of racing.

Same problem if you keep the power floored through a bend, you will lose the rear end of the car. Brake in a straight line up to the bend, drive round the bend, power on as you exit the bend. Try it, it works! :)

Yeah that's why I drive with no assists - it's more of a challenge. In the ME FOUR-TWELVE you can only floor it if you are on a straight road and in 4th gear or above. But if you get a good launch with no wheelspin, it can go from 1st gear to 5th gear in 6-7 seconds :)

Diablo, you talk like if you have some experience. :)
I would like to know, what do you think about the physics of TDU....I mean, have you ever played some real sims like LFS or GTL and GTR?
..or anyone else here...because phyics is the most important aspect of a racing game for me, I also dont own an x360 so I am waiting for PC version of the game. Is it really hard to controls with aids off? But please, I want an opinion of someone who knows what is hard to control.
Posts like: ''Its SOOO hard to control as NFS MW!!! rolleyesa
