Ok, cant be bothered to look through the list of previous threads to see if this list has already been covered so here i go on another ranting and raving mission! During general gameplay i've discovered an alarming number of faults with this game that include.
1.How come its a sin to drive on grass in car delivery missions etc but its ok to smash into concrete walls? surely even stevie wonder could see that driving on grass doe'snt damage a car but smashing into concrete at breakneck speed does it no good at all!
2.How come there are only about 6 types of NPC vehicle? particularly enjoy seeing the trucks with the cones on the back as ive NEVER seen a cone on the road anywhere!
3.There are more police on the island than there are in the whole of the UK, every other car seems to be one, Hawaii's tax bill must be huge!
4.Hands up anybody that has ever seen a hitchiker in a suit and tie?
5.On that note, how come all the shopping bag women etc have the same voice?
6.Why does everybody drive round with their lights on in broad daylight?
7. The pop-up's of cars are mind blowing, if you need to cross over onto the other side of the road for any reason what so ever there is ALWAYS a car coming or already there.
8.Back to the police thing, Whats an atom unit? and how come its ALWAYS atom 6 that comes after you? he must get about a bit!

Note that the list is for North Carolina, but it stands to reaon that other states use likewise codes and key words. ;)

Now we know what dispatch in game is telling the Adam units when they have to give up the chase. :)

"alarming number of faults"... u sure are put into high alert easily aren't you.. wouldn't class any of these as "faults" personally but hey..

What do you want, 90 cars running at blisterinn high speeds round a 1000 mile island in multiplayer over xbox live... or a few more cars which you only see for 2 seconds while you whizz past them?

Think you'll find they only have their lights on because your on their side of the road hurtling towards them.... (i may be wrong but thats what i always thought)

no mate, everybody has their lights on, including the npc cars on the 'correct' side of the road! i'd certainly like to see more realism in the npc cars, they look like they have been animated by my 3 year old niece! how come it never gets dark on the island? does hawaii not have nightime hours?
Dunno but i like that feature. i hate night time racing games
In Denmark we drive with lights on at all times, as it indicates that the car is started. That's simply the law here.
Perhaps it's the same for Hawaii.
For the bit about only having a small number of different NPC cars, it's probably such a way because they have to keep the number of different textures/models going from the npc side at a minimum, to get decent game performance in urban areas etc. - As you pointed out, cars still appear out of nowhere, which would probably be worse if there was more variation.
Other than that, it was a fun rant :bravo:
Edit: It's not reality... Reality is not fun :) - The night time would really mess up a lot of the racing events. Then there would only be certain times of day it would be ideal to race certain tracks. It wouldn't be the same for everyone participating in races.
Personally I'd rather avoid playing the game in the evening if that was the case.

Alot of cars in the us come standard with daytime running lights... ALL car in canada do, and besides, i often think "Thank god all the cars have lights on! its would be nearly impossible to see them on my crappy tv if they didnt!"
And ive encountered a number of different voices for the top model missions, some have accents some dont and so on.
As for the hitchikers, those guys are pricks... i dont pick any of those a-holes up. "dont worry, it was an ugly car anyway"... sorry bud, but youd be right out the door at full speed if i could only just do that.... Id rather go pick up one of the hot chicks that smiles at me when i look over than those no-car-having yuppy gitts. Who needs stinking clothing vouchers anyway... i got my white t-shirt and track pants... im happy. I also left that broad that told me she wouldnt be caught dead in my Enzo sitting on the curb with her shopping bags indefinitly.
