Really annoying me! - Help!

Ok, i am 38 percent complete and now whenever i try to start a challenge it takes like 40 seconds to load until the count down! It has started freezing eratacially like 3 times a night and every so often ( the disk is unreadable, please clean it with a soft cloth lalalalala) I dont think it has actually been outside of my xbox since ive had it and i havent knocked it either so why is this happening?

I think if you hold the A button when the game is loading it clears the cache... or when the 360 is starting up, I cant remember.

Not saying that will fix it but it's worth a pop.
