View Full Version : TDU and the 60htz Refresh
This has probbably been asked before, but I couldn't find it in a search.
Anyone using a TV with only 50Htz refresh? TDU needs 60Htz according to the back of the case.
What will happen? slow flicker or game not run at all?
So out of the 32 of you that have looked at this, not one of you has a clue :noooo:
Oh well. And I thought you were "the Guys" rolleyesa

If your 360 settings are on 50Hz the game won't run. But if your tv doesn't support 60Hz and you have it set to it - picture will be jumping and scrolling a bit like when you set your pc at too high a res for your monitor.

I am the "gaming" guy. Unfortunately, I am not the "TV" guy. I don't know what all this jargon means, I just know that it works for me.

If you have an HDtv, don't worry about anything. But if you have an older one, which supports 60Hz the graphics will be better compared to 50Hz (if the game supported it). If ur tv doesn't support 60Hz, the game will still be playable but you'll just have something like PS2 graphics (dodgy framerate,...)

The game doesn't run when the 360 is on 50Hz (yes I have tried this) and if his tv doesn't support it I doubt that he will have his 360 set on 60Hz :wink2:

I know the game doesn't run on 50Hz, that why i said 'IF the game supported it'. And you can set ur 360 to 60Hz on every tv, but tv's that support 60Hz will have a better quality.

Lol ps2 graphics, now tell me what plannet are you from?
Ohh and just to correct you, even if you have an HD ready TV you may still only be able to view 50Hz not all TV's support 60Hz, hell even old HD projektion TV's can be marged to only 50Hz.

HDtv have 720p/1080i or even 1080p, not 50Hz. Atleast mine doesn't, just switch to HDtv on ur cable.

So true indeed, but 720p\i and uppwards is the televisions resoultion (how many pixels you can view at the view area) 50 or 60 hertz is the refreshrate of wich the resolution is drawn on screen.
Most modern tvs are locked to 100 hertz wich is enough to view every game to come, but some is still locked to the old 50 hertz, even newer televisions.
Setting the cable to HD just renders the option to select between
50 or 60 hertz useless, this because the hd resolutions are locked to 60 hertz nativly.

Oooh, thanks for clearing that up. So actually my tv supports 100Hz but it only plays at 60Hz while using the xbox360?
