tenebra recently announced that the toolset-download is the real final preorder-toolset, and that we are allowed to download it right now.

well... now i'm really amazed.

i compared the toolset i just downloaded to the "original" one others downloaded on sunday by exchanging and checking the md5-hashsums (fingerprints) of every file contained in both packs. they _are_ identical, thus proofing that either there is still no "final" toolset available right now, or it has been available since sunday and actually was leaked to everyone, preseller or not.

but then we were told "no, wait, it's not the final one but a beta version" by tenebra. obviously some part of the information we were given must be wrong, and i'd like to know _which part_ is wrong, and _who_ made the mistake.

i am not pointing fingers at anyone, particulary not at tenebra (assuming she only relayed the information she was handed), and i don't want to rouse any rumours of conspiracy. i just want straight answers.

You're right as I am (http://forums.eu.atari.com/showpost.php?p=912545&postcount=81). It's only a foul excuse from Atari. Nothing more.

ah, sorry stern, i didn't see your posting before starting this thread. anyway i think it's better to have this in it's own thread, as i am sure there will be others wondering about the same things.

Yup, I'm wondering what the real situation is, and semi-patiently waiting to download mine. :respect:

Isn't the current downloadable Toolset the same as the one that will be released in the final product? I thought it would be?

Besides, with a huge program like NWN2/Toolset aren't there continual Patches, updates and tweaks after release anyway. No code is going to be 'final' so I don’t think it matters does it? or am I misunderstanding something..... I do that quite often :) :)

Tenebra has also just posted in that thread that there will be new news very soon.

The big **** is that people who didn't pay for the preorder got the same for nothing. They (the non-customers) shouldn't have the toolset until game release. No toolset. Not a beta, not a preorder. Betas are for beta-testers, preorders are for preorderers.
What would I do without Atari? My pocket could have died of too much money in it.

In a few hours *nods*, in just under 2 hours, but then it can still take a short while before we hear, but likely not long after.

don't get me wrong, guys. actually i'm quite fine to have the toolset at last, even if this is still the beta-toolset. as some of you might remember i was asking for it to be released when the preorder-toolset became delayed the last time anyway. but when i ran my little "toolset petition" thread there were a lot of people unhappy with the idea of getting a beta-quality toolset for preordering, quite understandably, so they'll want to know.

again: to me this is not about the toolset-download, this is about information, its credibility, or the lack of.

:respect: I understand, and just hope this won't result in any further not-really nessisary game delays just to keep a month difference between the toolset and the game. :respect:

Guys, I can see now that communication is getting lost in the several similar threads. There is further investigation going on as we speak (see also official word from Atari UK thread), news will follow later this afternoon, once the US is awake and in the office.

Can we please contain the topic in one single thread, so nothing goes lost?

Iwith a huge program like NWN2/Toolset aren't there continual Patches, updates and tweaks after release anyway. No code is going to be 'final' so I don’t think it matters does it?of course there will be updates and patches, at least we all hope atari and obsidian will be as actively supporting nwn2 as atari and bioware did for nwn1.

but there's a lot of history to the preorder-toolset, it was delayed two times because they found new bugs and didn't want to release an unfinished product. that's why everyone is asking "is this the real thing?", because if it wasn't then why was it delayed at all? and downloading 2.5gb is no piece of peanutcake for all preorder customers, so some will want confirmation before downloading.

anyway take your time. we've come a long way and can wait a little longer... me anyway, have to go now for a while.

Downloaded it now but will wait until further infos are given :)

Just in case they really set up other files again: remember them to change their login-data of their ftp-server so the not-preorder-customer are locked out please *smiles and sits down for a cup of tea to wait* :)

It's too late anyway. What makes it a sense when so many people already downloadet it? To exclude only a fistful of non-customers? A proper compensation for the preorder-customers would be the only good solution.

Guys, it'd be even better if you could post your comments and suggestions here (http://forums.eu.atari.com/showthread.php?t=43323.). It's not that I've forgotten to lock it, it's been deliberately left open for comments.

@Stern: I guess cause the "Merchant's Friend"-Item will be on the same FTP-Server surely? :)

@Tenebra:
Thanks :) actually really thought it was just forgotten to be locked, hehe

Posted that already, but guess what, I lost the thread within minutes after posting it. Figures.

Can't some threads be locked and at the same time a link given to the thread that is meant for that? In this case maybe use this one (or whichever one has the best title)?

[edit]
Seems I'm turning semi-blind because of too many threads *points up a few posts*

[edit2]
Though "Official word from Atari UK" does not sound like a thread to discuss the Pre-order Toolset, something like "Pre-order Toolset Discussion" sounds more appropriate... Maybe "Toolset Availability Discussion" is even better. If the topic title is clear, the chance that a million-and-seventy-three threads about that same topic are made is next to none (can't stop those that think they need to make a new thread every time they want to say something new).

hmm... never been to bioware forums, have you? :) the poor mods just couldn't close threads quick enough when the delays became public...

Been there often enough, but in times of chaos, there's nothing you can really do I guess. A lot of posters there, but a whole lot of "childeren" amongst them, pardon the term, so not the best place for me.

It's also been a long while since I've been on a forum where there were a lot of posts in a short time, just ask Viv, the forum we hang on frequently are nearly unvisited (unfortunately)... (the last 12 threads that have been replied to were replied to by me)... Won't surprise me if that server will never get up (anyone wanting to make a low-mid magic RP server?).
