Well I have been playing in the toolset since yesterday and am enjoying it while I am overcoming more and more difficulties each hour. Its powerfull but complicated.
A few things did dissappoint me though.
Clothing can get armor thrown over it and can be colored, but the parts of the outfit cant be changed anymore like in nwn1. I would have been happy enough with a few less parts like arms,torso/neck,pelvis/legs,hands,feet.
The number of outfits is not that high because of this. they all look great but its not much for a full game. I saw some numbers are missing so I am rather certain that we will see more in the final version.
And why do the outfits show so little skin? Its just rediculous that male characters wear a shirt when naked. I cant even get some bare arms. There is one female outfit that shows quite a bit but all the other outfits show nothing.
This way we cant have barbarian characters, they need to be able to walk around bare chested, or at least with bare arms.
I was missing tattoos as well. I saw a few facial ones but nothing for over the body.
I couldnt get beards for my dwarves either, hopefully this will be fixed in the final version.
There are very few creatures in nwn2, I do hope there will be some more, nwn1 without expansions had at least double the amount of this. There are a few new creatures but not much. And the wherewolf looks more like a friendly pet than a dangerous monster.
All the other creatures look great though. the number of dragons and golems is very dissapointing though. And there are no Slaad at all.
I am very happy with the races though, finally gnomes look normal and like something people would want to play with. The subraces are great too.
A bit more faces would be very welcome though.
I also noticed Whips, Double bladed swords, double axes and double maces missing, and more might be left out. A shame since everything exept for whips and dwarven waraxes was in the original nwn.
Another important thing thats missing is walls. I could find battlements and balconies but no walls and gates. We will definatly need those, no doubts there.
I am incredibly happy with all the hats and helmets though, we truly needed open face helmets. I like the selection of medieval and fantasy here. It provides everything we need, soldier helmets, barbarian helmets, hoods, sorcerer caps, knight helmets, and hats for commoners of all classes. I am only missing a skull shaped one.
I hope the preview window next to armor changing will be fixed though. same for weapons and shields.

Hm.. well about whips and so I'm sure I saw the possibility to make some, not tested yet though if that works. Try makign a new item and then change the BaseItem-Tag into 'Whip' (from the list) ... will test it tomorow, too late to test *yawns* :)
About Walls: I'm quite sure I saw them, even some nice looking City-Walls.
They were another point like balconies with a '+' (first the fences, then small walls and then in the list came some bigger walls)
The gates... well I know these walls have a gate-placement, too and i think you need double-doors for that these you find under the doors-tab :)
(Not tested everything yet, just got myself a bit into handling new toolset yet)

walls are in tiles section. every sectin has them (cave/crypt/ilfarn etc)
I'm really disappointed about the lack of all things drow :( but am hoping to see some in the final :)

walls are under the manmade props section in the placeables tab
i hope there will be _lots_ more of documentation, especially for developers. the toolset is almost a framework, so for creating plugins i'd like to have some sort of sdk, some demo-code and the like...
then i'd like to have a way to load or exchange plugins without restarting the whole toolset - even on my fast dualcore machine it takes considerable time.
ah, and could we get keys for moving around the scenery in addition to ctrl+rmb please?

No zooming and panning with the mousewheel?
That'll likely get me frustrated fairly quickly when I get to testing/toying with the toolset. With my CAD experience, I use the mousewheel a whole lot, constantly zooming and panning.
So I hope I'm misunderstanding some people when it comes to that.

Uhm... just open the Item-Tab, then right'click into the field where you can choose the items and then "Create Blueprint -> Module" (not knwo for what is Global and Campaign yet, but module works for it :))
If you have troubles with unerstanding it totally look into your documentation-folder inside the toolset-install-folder and look for "NWN2_BetaTest_Toolset_HowTo_5-CreatingItems", helped me alot understanding it.

Thanks, I'll likely get the hang of it within minutes or seconds after I start... tomorrow.

Don't worry. It will be pretty easy to "fix" this. I wouldn't be surprised to see a nude hak ready on the day the game ships ;-)

I personly dont mind a nude hak, its rather logical that a character is naked when not wearing an outfit but I understand why they dont put that in the game themselves.
I cant understand why they are so conservative though, the medieval ages were nothing like that and certainly not in a fantasy settings.
Not seeing snow as a terrain option.
Not seeing Damage Reduction as a givable item property, but did see it on existing items.
Some items don't have a correct texture, at least some of the higher numbered shoulder parts.

There is a snowplaceable.
for half orcs some armor textures seem to be missing yes, I noticed that on bracers for them.
humans have all parts though, both men and women.
last thing I would like to mention is the music.
why did they put all the nwn1 music in it? I have been hearing all that for four years, I dont want to hear that over and over for a few more years. I like all the new music but they should have just made more new music and removed all the old music. Maybe the old voice sets too, I couldnt find an option to hear the voice sets but they are named the same so I presume they all are the same.
There is a snowplaceable.
Haven't seen a snow-placable yet, don't think I care for those anyway. I had hoped for a texture, so you can make snowy mountain tops or frozen wastelands... throwing placables everywhere can't be too good if you want to make a server which needs to communicate all those placables to all the players that go there... might restrict the amount of snow anyway.

well since lots of numbers are missing between the armor and clothing appearances I am rather certain that more has been left out, placeables as well perhaps.
I am 100% certain there will be more creatures, I heard they didnt put some in the pre release because they would be major spoilers.
There are at least a few more models that will be in the final release - mostly villans or companions but a wyvern and horses (non ridable) are possible, and I expect that there will be a few more amour bits.
As for the sound / music - this is often the last thing to be done in games, so I wouldnt be supprised to see a whole new set in the real release.
Snow!
I have written a little bit on how to add new textures (like snow) on the bioware boards, or I beleieve somone has added a set of files to do it at nwvault.

I am rather sure that we will get all the missing armor pieces and face and hair appearances.
There are no appearances at all for a few armor attachments after all, and having just one appearance for some things doesnt seem like worth the trouble of giving it its own category. studded leather could have been placed under leather then.
I meant to mention this before, but...
I feel they've taken more out than they left in. *nods*
They removed a few tabs in the scripting part, so if someone adds something custom it's either thrown with other things or can't be found at all (unless you manually check your entire script).
I personly dont mind a nude hak, its rather logical that a character is naked when not wearing an outfit but I understand why they dont put that in the game themselves.
Because then they would get an "M" rating in the US, not a "T" rating.
You need to think like an American....it is perfectly acceptable to have guts, gore and blood splattered all over, but the poor teenagers have to be protected from the horror of seeing a semi-nude female ;-)

heh yes. I personly dont see anything scarring about just a nude body, in some cases it can be art even, just look at some old greek and roman statues.
Still, obsidian went a bit over the top by giving all men a shirt when they are supposed to walk in their underwear, and barbarians really should be able to wear as little as conan the barbarian for example. They boast of their strenght so it seems obvious that they would like to show their muscles. Just bare arms would help a lot, and a bare chest would be even better. Maybe with a few straps so that shoulder pads can be placed on it and look like their are attached to it.
But the one female outfit that did show a lot more, the drowish one, gives me good hope.
I did notice that a few female outfits looked like they put a simple shirt under the outfit to hide cleavage. I really hope this will be removed in the final version. Not that I am enjoying a few pixels that much, but in medieval times you often saw peasant women and in later years noble women that showed a lot of cleavage.
