Can't get onto same server as my friends reliably.

hi,

loving this game and have mostly been doing singleplayer. Recently I have tried the multiplayer side against my brother but even though I can see him on the map, when I click on him and it zooms me in to where he is, I don't see him in the game.

Occasionally we have managed to be in the same place at the same time and see each other and then can do the instant challanges no problem.

Is this because there are different servers hosting the game and we might be on different ones from each other? How does that side of it work? Can you basically drive to any part of the map and see anyone else who is on that part of the map?? So If I drove to the top left and my bro did would we meet up?

Is there any way to guarentee you'll meet up online with your friends list?

Hi,

There are multiple servers and you are most likely on different ones. You could both drive to the same area and not see each other, you need to select your friend on the map to join the same server. There are only 8 people at a time visible to you, including yourself. You won't be able to join your friend if he has 'N/A' next to his name, this means he already has another 7 people in his area.

If he has 'N/A' try driving to a more remote location on the island. It can be difficult to join people in the city as it is often very busy.

It can still take a couple of tries to find each other, but eventually it should work.

ahhh, makes sense.

So will it put you on the same server automatically if you have free slots (not anther 7 people on yours)?

Is there anyway to force join the same server?

And can you see each other on any part of the map or are there only certain parts of the map / roads where you can be online? I remember reading somewhere that only certain roads were multiplayer (could be wrong tho.)

Just read the bit about clicking on them on the map to join there server (but only if there are slots free on that server.

Sometimes you can automatically appear on the same server in remote areas, it has happened to me with friends, but usually you end up on different ones.

Any road can be multiplayer. The only problem you will have is if your friend is driving on a road that you have not yet visited.

The N/A next to your friends name is also telling you he is not available, and he may be taking part in something or he is in a shop or house! I connect first time if there is no NA next to the name.

the process me and my m8s do is this:
start a private chat via dashboard, both go to a set point on the map, designate 1 person to stay on the road and the other to go to map to "find" the freind, this then generally puts u on the same server after a few seconds to connect. Once we see each other, use the "lock" function via left on the D pad to lock 2 gether. Works 1st time almost everytime :D.

Usually before we "find" each other, we set our gps to a key location as far away as possible, then once we locked on, we say 3.2.1. GO and then have a 30 - 50 mile race accross the island :D yey.
