so i have an challenge up again called "the vomit run" now, it has a driving meter, is around 11 miles has 15 or so checkpoints... but SOMEHOW someone managed to do it in 16 seconds in an A4 cabriolet... How in the hell could you possibly do that? i mean really. I filed a tampering complaint against the guy... but im interested... are people hacking the game? I just dont get it. the start and finish are a about a hundred meters apart, but there are 15 checkpoints through 11 miles! i turned around at the start and tried hitting the finish from both ends, and nothing happened. Does anyone have any info on how people do this? Im enraged! nobody has been able to glitch that track yet! Id encourage all of you to file tampering complaints against people who are obviously cheating.

Yeah.

I was pretty miffed, when I visited a diner the first time.

Seeing people doing races in a 10th of the time it took me on the first run....

I might not be the best racer out there, but seriously!

I would imagine however, that it would be possible for Atari, to calculate the shortest possible time within a certain range, and then execute swift justice against those, that clearly cheats. One way or another.

I honestly don't see what the point of cheating is. Let alone cheating so blatantly that anyone can see that the person cheated.

Anyways. Bump for justice!

yes i know we all have our paties in a bunch.... but what method are these people using to do this? i dont even want to know excatly how... id just like to know of there is a tdu loophole? or are there people out there that are actually altering code? I mean is unbelievable. I havent heard anything about it, yet it seems to be quite popular. I sent the guy a message asking him if he gains a lot of self respect by ruining the diner challenges for everyone else... i cant wait for the "youre an effing [homosexual] you stupid looser" reply. But i KNOW there are cheaters lurking on the board somewhere... they have some underground postal service they use to update the other fellow cheaters on new and improved methods of making themselves look like twits to thousands of other x-box users.

Wouldn't a sure fire way to beat this is to have the devs run a maximum test on all the cars/bikes and find out just what speeds they can do at their highest and most constant and then incorporate a check once it's been done to see if it's below or equal to that and if it's over by more than say a 10% margin then just dismiss it. The same with the distances, if you can work out what a 1/4 mile takes for each car, then every 1/2 mile etc, and get an average time per mile after the first mile/km then it would check the time against this and dismiss that also.

One thing we do need though Atari/Eden please, is when you are creating a challenge, please change our vehicle to the vehicle we have chosen in the restriction or the make so that we can run the target time without having to Save, Exit, Return to house, Pick car/bike, Exit house, Enter Pause menu, Enter editor... well you get the idea.

Im afraid after spending a few hrs in the diner's more cheaters are appearing. There was a similiar challenge to what you describe above where it took me 1min to get to the finish line and yet someone had done it in 4seconds!. I always send these players messages asking how on earth they did this and they either reply by saying "they didn't mean it the server is screwed" or " I just know how to start fast from the line". Now my answer is this, if the server is screwed and it's a glitch why has it never happened to me or my friends. As for the start fast from the line what are they using concorde!. I know all about using manual gear's e.g saleen from 3rd to 5th so I know this isn't the reason so these cheater's are either using some kind of code or tampering with their router. Either way these cheater's are ruining yet another 360 game and after all the effort Atari put into this game I find this rather saddening.

I think someone on here posted saying that the server glitched/lagged and it ended up giving him a stupid completion time - in the first need for speed underground (on the pc anyway), if you had a crappy internet connection it would lag you all the way and you could do a 40 second drag in 16 seconds and such rubbish. This worked up until a patch, but still sometimes happened after that so maybe Atari need to look into this.

Either way I just hope it gets sorted soon... sour:

Along the lines of cheating...but just evr so slightly off topic, I was hammering a couple of players last night and was 1.something miles in front after a quick rear view, screaming towards the finish.....next thing an excocet missile rattled past me and i lost (been trying to beat this certain guy for over twenty minutes)

Sat there slightly bemuddled thinking 'Ah the joys of lag'. Cracked open a bottle of JD and went for a cig... weirdblue

That makes alot of sense, they could start the race, hit the standby button then release it when there coming up to the finish line :)

Dont know much about network code but if thats plausible it'd make alot of sense.

Ummm, standby button? :mefiant:

On cable modems and some DSL modems/gateways there's a button that suspends your connection for a little while, known as a standby button.

Well i think thats it, i've never had a modem with a standby button so i'm not 100% sure :wink2:

hmmm im staring to understand this concept you think i should try it out? i got a ntl modem it hasnt the stand by button but i could plug it out after starting a a race then park by the finish line and plug it back in and go through???

Well i'd imagine so, or maybe you'd need to plug it back in when you go through each checkpoint ?

Worth a shot, and if it does work at least Atari have something to fix then :)

Yes it's a similar theory, but I'm not sure it will work like that though as you'll just get a 'disconnected from xbox live' ...

I'm pretty sure the problem is along these lines though.

First post, so hi everyone :salut2:
This may not be caused by people cheating. I remeber on richard burns rally a similar thing happened where i completed the rally school stage in a good time (prob would have been top 20 on live) yet the timing screen told me i had done it in 17 secs, 3rd fastest. I can honestly say that i didn't cheat in that and have no idea how it happened. It could be possible that its a similar prob here, but i'm a mechanical engineer, not a computer one, so dont know what the prob is!

Well, you know how some people are getting like 599.9mph on some of those speed challanges? You know how there's that Atari Test car glitch, where the car looks like an Audi, but goes like 600mph.... hmmmm... :mefiant:

I have to agree with this post, I'm sure that if it was cheating, the means to do it would be all over the net by now, but as no-one on this forum knows hows it done it has to be a software glitch....

[Sorry should have posted on this thread and not on the poll thread]

This is my first post, I normally just lurk as I don’t want to get into any flame wars. Something that is easily done as text can be read completely differently from the way it was intended, Ironic then that I should pick this post to reply to. I am currently fourth in the 180 mph in heavy traffic challenge. I managed this in my tuned Enzo which isn’t capable of the 300mph speed set on the challenge. I didn’t intend to get this speed in fact it was probably the worst attempt at this challenge I have ever made. I was trying to change channels on the radio and crashed twice, after the second crash the end race button appeared and I pressed it without even looking at the speed. I’m happy for this speed to be removed from the records I would prefer it if I knew what my real record is. I just wanted you all to know that some of us haven’t cheated and there appears to be some kind of glitch in the game. Hopefully this will be addressed in the upcoming patch from Atari/Eden.

P.S. A big thank you to Atrai/Eden for the game I’ve been waiting for all my life

I once went into a diner, picked a race at random (was a speed race) and saw the impossible 500 miles/h speed or something like that, 30 seconds later I was out of the diner. Just makes no fun, even if this seems to look more like a glitch than cheats...I hope Atari got this in their top priority list!

I agree with Mr_B_82, paven and nixonatorpx :respect:

TDU is awesome game 10sur10
I trust Eden will work on the game until they have corrected all the glitches in it :atari:
