View Full Version : McLaren F1 LM for non-preorders...eventually?

Sorry for more boring download questions, but I've searched the forum and can't find anybody that knows definitevely whether or not the pre-order cars (The F1 LM specifically) will be available for general download eventually, regardless of how far in the future it is?

I would be seriously dissapointed if they don't make the 3 cars (gallardo, F1 LM and zonda roadster) available for everyone. They are advertising heavily with these cars, so I think they aren't completely fair to people paying full retail prices for this game and nothing getting the same complete experience as some pre-order people got. To me this is one of the most ill-conceived marketing stunts ever displayed in the games industry.

Yeah, if you are offering something as a little bonus, you don't plaster it on all your promotional gubbings. hehe. I saw we all revolt and burn idols of famous Atari icons. I will be making a pin-yada of an Atari ST and repeatedly beat it with a very large stick!!!

Come comrades!!! Let us show them all!!!

there are 4 cars lambon, F1 LM, Spyker spyder and Zonda Roadster. And o they will not be availeble since they were pre-order cars. If you did not pre-order you will not get 1... Or else there would be no meaning in releasing them as pre order cars. Sorry guys you will have to do without this time...

Where did you get this solid information Krizz? You seem pretty confident. I'm not too fussed if you are correct, as there should be a healthy volume of the cars being traded online for large sums. After all, those with pre-orders aren't limited to purchasing the car once in game, they can buy and sell as many times as they like. Quite a potential earner for them I would say!

Well yeah there would be a point. Some people get it before other people, and if rumours are true then they will have been "free" too.

Yea that may be true that you can trade the car. But what Im saying is that i don't belive that Atari will release the cars for downloads. If they did it would have been meaningless for us who pre-orderd. well he who lives will know.

Hmm, not necessarily. If they made them available for download as the very last content, I don't believe it's unfair on those that pre ordered. At the end of the day, the car was a free gift. They will have had access to it for months before others so I dont see it as unfair. If those of us who didn't pre-order were charged X hundred points for the cars, the pre-order folk still haven't had to pay for it, they're just not the only ones with it anymore.

I would prefer everyone to have the cars anyway. It spoils the game not being able to race against every car. I'd like to race another McLaren and beat it in my Caterham again :nuts:

That makes it impossible for us Brits to get the Zonda or Spyker Spyder as they are foreign and this game wont play on a PAL console.

The only way to get the Zonda is by pre ordering from the usa. But if you buy it from the usa it wont play on a euro Xbox, therefore we have no way of receiving the zonda...

Nop there are 4 cars for the PAL system. and they are : Zonda Roadster, Spyker C8 Spider, Mclaren F1 LM and the Gallardo. In the US for all i know you can onely get Zonda and F1 LM.

Uh, no?

They'll all come later on. However, the primary reason the pre-orders and Exclusive 2 car offers were done were to get folks to buy the game. That was their reward. Had they released all 4 cars at the same time, there'd be no point.

i should know, i bought TDU from a shop called Harvey Norman here in australia, and they had piles of these dvds that all had the codes for the McLaren.

i didnt pre-order it, i just walked down there and bought it more than a week after it was released and i got the LM. mdr1

Actually they were. Not everyone will get the LM. I'm positive once that shop ran out, that was it.

They will eventually be available if Atari are wise.

Pre-orderers get them early, thats still a reward. But I didnt get a code (even though I pre-ordered) and cant do the referal thing... what about those who didnt have a 360 before release so waited until they got a 360 for xmas to get the game? Or 2nd hand sales? The game didnt even sell out on release day, they will sell more between then and the end of time than they did on release, more people will want the "pre-order" cars than those who pre-ordered. It makes sence to release them in the future.

Not that it matters, they are very much like the other versions of the car anyway. Plus, they are all nasty cars so wouldnt actually be driven by me even if I did have them, give me an s7 or GT over any of that poo :)

I DID preorder the game, but the store where I pre-ordered from wasn't aware of any bonus car promotion going on (I asked him after I found out that the game I had bought didn't contain the cars they advertised). And the trade system won't allow these bonus cars to be traded (rendering the trade system utterly useless IMO, if I can buy every single car in the game itself, why would I buy it through trade???). And again, I don't mind offering a little bonus for pre-order client but
a)make it available to everyone who preordered (not just a few territories/shops), we all faithfully paid full retail price on release so we all deserve the same 'reward'.
b)Don't effing advertise so blatently with these cars that are obviously not in the normal retail package. All these 4 cars are very dominantly present in nearly all the press stills, even non-gaming press like TopGear has used these cars in their review stills. If you are selling a flight simulator wit a screenshot of a boeing 747 on the retail package and press materiel, then there is no excuse for not having it in available to fly in the sim. The same rule applies to Atari.
