Can someone help please?

In just under 2 weeks time I host a small LAN party and Crashday is top of the list of games to play. However I have a problem.

I have 2 computers connected with crossover cables and 2 genuine installations of Crashday patched to 1.1. If the host computer is connected to the internet, then the 2nd computer can join a game with no problems.

However, if the host computer is NOT online then the joining computer crashes to desktop when the "join existing game" option in the multiplayer menu is selected.
This error is generated :-

An illegal memory refence is detected (This message was produced in file ..\propcore\dx9\int.cpp, line 21)

Seeing as I have bought the game twice, just for the LAN party, I'm not a very happy chicken because I won't have internet access where the LAN party takes place.

I have tried reinstalling the game and re-patching it, the problem is persistant regardless which computer hosts or joins. I have no problems with any other games with either LAN or internet.

Can anyone tell me, is this a known bug?

Is there a way to play LAN games without internet connection?

Can anyone else host AND join LAN games without internet connection or is it just me?

Will there be a patch to fix it? And when?

If you need internet access to play LAN games then why does'nt it say in the system requirements on the case or mention it in the handbook?

Is it something to do with port forwarding? Isn't that just for routers? (My computers are connected Via MOBO onboard LAN adapters) and can someone give me an example how to set port forwarding, or where to look if that is the case?

If you HAVE to be connected to internet to play LAN games, then where do I send my 2 copies of Crashday for a full refund, because they are useless to me otherwise and returns policies for PC games at shops indicate that there is no refund unless there is a fault. Which there isn't with the game, only LAN.

Any help or advice is welcome.

P.S. I have already posted on Crashday forum and Atari tech support, no response as yet.
