The mechanic for next competition are not set yet, Grant and I are thinking about it. Races would be great, but they'll take a long time for qualifying etc etc so we might leave it for bigger competitions, which are going to happen once the next update is released. By all means, please come up with suggestions if you have ideas.
We are discussing prizes as well, final details on Friday at the latest :)
How about a Drift competition ? :laugh: Just a suggestion

Again, good idea in principle but it's got 2 major flaws: 1) sessions are for 8 people only, competitions should be open 2) there is no way to measure the jumps, it would have to be somebody's arbitrary decision, not fair.
Squeeze your brains to find something that is truly open and measurable, that's the only way that it can be fair :)
Who can set the best 1 mile time in a certain car in Manual with no driving aids...Like a fully tuned Saleen, they are hard to drive :)

i've had an idea!
-it hurt my brain abit actually!-
how abouts another free ride style event, but we know where the atari person is. what you have to do is ram him, but instead of off the road, the challenge is to get his police meter up to the point where he gets fined and/or thrown in the nick.the people in the session that manages to get him done win mclaren F1 LM codes!

How about a cross country race?
Like a solo-start bicycle thing. All those that enter are released in groups of 8 at set times, say from the Lighthouse at the northwest point and have to clear through the island to the southeast corner. I been riding this route a bit and noticed that while it is a more straight-through line you get crossing the island, you can maintain a higher average speed and avoid more crashes by taking the long way around making it a pretty much even race. So you get a mod at the lighthouse with the names and the time and a receiver at the end.
Fastest time wins.
Dunno if mechanics makes it possible.
Or:
Tag at the airport (Or the Ford Island or the hidden secret island though the last one would make a lot of tagging done when they pop back at spawn.)
Tenebra in her A car against groups of seven in G's. Last one from each group to be tagged moves on to the next tier. All the last guys then set up against Ten again, and last man standing is the winner.

Lets look at this competition thing in its simplest form.
Competitions need variation to keep people coming back for more, so......
As the game stands at the moment, you have a monthly and annual ranking....so why can't we do the same for specific 'competition' tracks, because let's face it, the TDU website ain't that hot with the 'Leaderboards'. IMO it would be dead easy as the structure required to set it up is already there (coming from a programmers point of view). Just sort prizes out for each month (Atari - this is where your DLC codes could come in).
As the stats get 'reset' every month, so do the prizes (Atari - remember the rumours of monthly downloads :))
Just my two penneth - whaddya think?

It depends on how complicated you wanna make it. My earlier suggestion of a competition would allow all sorts of stuff to created as prizes. You could have DLC, promotional material, i.e.atari jackets, t-shirts, faceplates (another competitions right there).....
At the extreme end of it, if all of us bang our heads together and act sensibly, we could help to invent a massive competition (over a month or so) and maybe Atari could give a tour of the UK Headquarters as a prize - now THAT is worth winning IMO....
How's that for starters? (Tenebra, feel free to suggest this to Atari to add to their headaches, lol)

We will definitely do bigger and longer competitions, but I'd rather wait for the update to be out first, that will give us more flexibility. Until then, only fast and furious competitions with smaller prizes as a warm up :)

On the subject of prizes, i'm looking at getting loads in the future but what with all the admin i have to do in this office, like demo-ing new games to retailers in foreign countries like i will be this weekend, i am a little pushed for time.
Suffice to say there will be more, lots more, including car models from www.minimodelcar.co.uk and hopefully I'll get some retailer on board to offer store points but that is a conversation I'm yet to have. All ideas welcome.
The idea behind offering the zonda codes again today was to give those that had problems finding me or whatever last time. If you already have this and you knock me off tonight, then I'll sort something out because i'm that kind of guy.
umm, i'll see you in Oahu in like 7 mins.
and i still don't have a decent car so you'll have no problems catching me. alas admin duties make it difficult to play durig working hours so i stay late 'for the TDU cause'.
In the coming weeks we'll have other gamers hosting comps at the weekend so 'normal' people can join in. :-)

i was lucky, i caught up with him and kept bumber to bumper at 190mph. we came to a corner and i put the anchors on. he came off (straight into the drink :p) and there was some confusion whether i got him or not. there is a chance that he could have avoided it, and he thought he had driven himself off.(he was probably on incar and didnt see me :p) technically i didnt force/ram him off the road, however he still came off the road as a direct effect of my driving.

I was driving alongside him at 4.59pm. I asked allmighteh what time it was and he said 5pm. So we kind of accidentally collided and crashed him off the road. LOL. mdr1
