View Full Version : Release date?
Appearantly this forum only supports "2 pages - stickies" threads and deleted the one this would've fit in.
The game release date was said to be on the 31st of this month in America, that's tomorrow (might depend on what timezone you're in). At least that's the last official release date when you ask the BioWare forums (not going to argue that). However, people have been getting it since last friday or even earlier, as that's when they started posting on the Bioware forums on the CD-KEY needed forums.
Don't know where the problem lays, but people aren't at least waiting until the right date comes, they just have to show off that they have theirs before the normal people. Are stores selling them too early? Did someone steal a few trucks with copies in them?
People are obviously getting it before the release date and I think we deserve to know why. The problem might not be as much that it happens, but that it's noticed.
*patiently waiting until it hits stores here on friday the 3rd*
Dazzy.

Uhm. As far as I know, they are just official beta-testers. Nothing in the NDA prohibited them from registering their keys - they are only banned from discussing what they learned dureing the testing process, posting screenshots, or even confirming that they are beta-testers.
Now, what irritates me is that the stores in my country just got the game, but have to wait until the 3rd before they are allowed to sell them, because that is the release date for Europe.

In that case [...], for example, who frequently visits here in a way let know she (or he) is one but isn't allowed to confirm it... but isn't we knowing it enough confirmation?

See, now that's why I don't see why they stepped off from the worldwide release date. If stores have it on the same day, a worldwide release is possible, so why not do it?
A general agreement is in place in the UK (and most of europe I believe) stating that new games are only ever released on a friday.
Previous to this agreement there used to be a rush where the stores that recieved the game a couple of days early would stick it on the shelves and make more money than the shop around the corner. Needless to say the stores that always got the games late were not happy.
In America it is going out a few days earlier, but in fact will not hit the shelves for a couple of days in some states/stores. So really there isn't much differance between US and Euro release.
If it was a month or more differance between release in US and europe, I might be a little annoyed. A couple of days is perfectly reasonable, and no problem :)

I don't make a big deal out of a few days either, I'm happy not to live in one of those corners of the world that don't get it before 50% of the players have finished it, if at all.
It would've been nice none the less to have a true world-wide release (which is technically impossible because of timezones).

I can confirm everyone posting this past week and showing registered keys are beta testers cause I am one of them myself and I recognize them all :)
That clears that up then...
Don't see why the keys had to be registered though, there might be a reason ofcourse, but I don't see it. Don't see why the posting had to start, especially cause some of them are obviously postings just to post and show off the ability to post at that time (before "normal people" can).

it auto registers your key when you play with your old account. So if you use the same account you had for NWN in gamespy, it will automatically show you as registered. I show as registered and never entered my key anywhere except in the game to install.
As for posting, I must admit I'm guilty of posting myself. Both my PW and a spam post. *ashamed* sorry :(
I had not noticed till you said, I also appear as a nwn2 owner in the bioware forums. It must autoregistered then.
I wonder if there will be any problems when trying to enter my retail key when it's released.

I saw that Spam thread, don't know where it was located anymore, or exacly who posted what, but at least you didn't start that one. *found it again* Yours was not as spammy as most there. *nods*
*pets* Friday things should be better.
