Hello,
I have just received my LG LE edition of NWN2 that I ordered from play.com
(the only retailers in UK to have this particular edition) and I have not
receievd what has been advertised both on Atari's website and on the Website
of play.com.)
The offer states that I would receive, among other things....
A3 clothe map (as both play and game (for the CE edition) website have this
advertised I feel that this information must have been received from someone
in charge of the release i.e Atari)
I did not receive this A3 clothe map, instead I received a square paper one, I
admit to being VERY disappointed in this matter as I had every intention of
framing it, as we in Britain do not usually get this kind of item. Under no
crcumstances would I have purchase this item had I been aware of the reality.
Also
A 40 page art book was promised (advertised both on the stores websites AND Atari's website)
I did not recieve this either but instead received a 24 page booklet
(if you count both covers and front and back)
I feel very much let down by this situation as I feel that I have not been
subject to fair play by the party involved, which I consider to be Atari as
they are in charge of both publicity and distribution, and do not consider
this error to be worthy of the Atari name.
I would very much like a satifactory conclusion to this matter.
If this is not an appropriate place to request help in this matter, I would be
grateful for suitable contact information of someone who is able to help.
Thank you in advance, for a swift reply.
The first link is to play.com (who can only advertise goods that they have been
informed they shall get.), and the second is to Atari's own website.

This is going to be the same for everyone, for the LG anyway. The 'clothe [sic] map' is actually paper, whereas it is cloth in the US, and the art book is not the advertised 40 pages.
In addition, Atari Europe seem to be only supplying a cut-down manual even with the limited edition copies (Atari are distributing a manual of over 100 pages in the US), though that was never specifically advertised.

Yes I understand this is the case and am rather puzzled about getting the smaller manual in the special box, this version was the best possible edition that I could buy.
However, Atari have a very good and solid reputation and once they have solved my problem to my satisfaction, which I have every confidence that they will, I may see about trying to secure a copy of the full manual, which I must admit to expecting and which is highly desireable as I do not have any rulebooks and do not know how to play (I assumed that the manual would teach me the broader basics and that I could pick up the rest.)
Thank you for your words.
as these are not the only matters that didn't go at all as advertised i really hope you get what you paid for - but i'm not confident at all. maybe you're lucky not to be german, at least here you'll find people _trying_ to help, whilst our particular problems in germany have not even been commented on.
good luck!

That's what I'm wondering as well, but I don't care that much... at least until I walk into the store tomorrow and it's all sold out... but I'm still not pleased, release dates are release dates and should be lived by. *nods*

well i already have it reserved for me at my local store so i'm garanteed to get it tomorrow :chapeau: :bravo:
But as the first release date was on the 31st, I can't really make a deal of it when someone gets it on the 2nd in the month after, even when their date is for the 3rd. *just wanted to add that*

With Pre-orders, especially with mail only retailers (such as Play.com etc) it is quite common for people to end up in possesion of a game a day or so ahead of its release date... This is because they tend to get mailed out in order to definately arrive on or before the release date..
As for those that have purchased a copy in a store before the release date, they shouldnt have been able to... but it is a very difficult thing to police!
again it is just amazing (or is amazoning the word?) that in germany they customers of amazon, who paid 10€ for the preorder without redeeming, get their copies later than the folks just walking into any major cities gameshops by accident.
another chance missed to give the preordering fools an advantage...

It's the same here... At the bioware forums I read about dutch members having the game 4 days ago, yet I'm still waiting for my LG limited edition which I preordered more than a month ahead. Pretty bad service from the shop in question (dutch Free Record Shop).
Please add me to the complaints list as well - have already e-mailed customer services about being really unhappy over not recieving the correct items - would be nice to get it sorted out somehow - or at least an explaination.....
(Ohh and don't even get me started on the manual)
Add me to the list of slightly angry purchasers.
Chaotic Evil edition this time, and very very disapointed in the manual, or lack of a physical one atleast.
Here the problem came with delivery, Free Record Shop didn't deliver a limited edition anywhere to my knowing, at least I got the store to refund the presell on the normal version (so I can play).
I do not know why it didn't get distributed, maybe they foresaw this and are doing what they can to correct it, or it's because for that version they want to translate the entire manual into dutch (instead of adding a few pages like with the normal one).
*doesn't need anything translated, no idea why they thought they had to do it, really unnessisary here in the Netherlands*
If they create a real copy with a real physical manual and A3 cloth map and everything else promissed for the LE, and not have lame translations... I might get a limited edition as well, if not, then I definately won't. Bad distribution that was done there, hopefully lessons can be learned from it.
i'd rather think they had no limited editions left to deliver...
do you _really_ think they are reworking the packages?!
Not really, but you never know.
They did make changes to the packaging of the normal one, and somewhere rumors went the manual would be dutch.
I sooner think they never got any, especially when looking at their site... it still says it's not yet for sale. They still give the release date of the 3rd, but also make a note saying that they post the last known one.
On the other hand they are still giving the 20th of last month as release date for the normal one, don't know what's up with that (though it's possible I saw that one in the store on the 27th, though I'm pretty sure those were all presells... the front of those boxes are nearly identical).
So I'm assuming they never got them (until I hear otherwise).

Thanks for letting me know, and I think you're definately right as I haven't gotten an email saying my order was shipped. I'll be going to Utrecht tomorrow to see if I can get this all straightent up because it is pure bull that I don't have the game yet.
In reply to Tanita: That might be the problem in some cases, but not in mine I think. I've ordered the game more than a month before it was supposed to be released, they had plenty of time making sure I'd get my copy :)
I am also not happy about this and the missing items are the exact reasons I paid £20 extra for the special edition.
I e-mailed customer services on thuirsday but have had no reply.
I paid £20 extra for the special edition.
did you just say "£20"? like in "£20 = €30"? you had to pay that much _in addition_ for the special edition?! wow. i'll stop complaining about my €10 gone down the drain at once!

Regular editions were available for £25 over here.
The limited editions had a retail price of £45, though the Good one was available for a cheaper price of £35 but quickly sold out.
So for almost twice the price it would have been nice if we actually received what we were expecting.
How much did you have to pay for your limited edition?

Wow Gavmea, sorry to say this, but I think you're getting ripped off eekblue:
Dazlar, as stated in the dutch section, today I called Free Record Shop's online department (Free Internet Shop) and asked them what was going on with my order. They told me they didn't have the Limited Edition and that they didn't know when it would come in either. Something must be wrong with the distribution of these boxes. They offered me to give me a full refund of my preorder.
Seeing how I just saw the regular edition for €40,-, I will definately buy that one. €20,- is too much of a difference for a Limited Edition that comes without a manual. And btw, I will not settle for a full release without a full manual either. By the sounds of it we already get to pay the full price for a budget release.
if i remember right, amazon sells the basic edition for €45 (about 30 pounds), while both collectors editions cost €55 (about 37 pounds) each. in addition there was that nasty "misunderstanding" (you could also call it "deception") with the preorder-pack: while you'd get the price redeemed we payed €10 for the mess and won't see any of it again.

Yeah they definately owe us an explanation. The box was all nice and I'm really happy with it, but it does leave a very bitter taste seeing how the manual is a complete worthless piece of luxurous toilet paper. It gives a whole new meaning to the term "limited edition" though rolleyesa
DnD games have always been exceptionally complex with all their rules, seeing how we pay €60,- for it and we aren't even getting a manual is questionable to say the least. That's a whooping 75 (seventy five!) USD. And what we get is a PDF file with countless errors in it. Apart from that, we want to be able to look up the consequences for picking up certain feats or spells on the fly, not having to ALT-TAB out of the game, which is known to make games unstable.
My first Atari experience is definately a mixed bag.
I am little disapointed, yes.
Can someone remember what ever there were promised at first place (in english). Becouse my Chaotic Evil version from www.playerone.fi let me know in first place this:
Neverwinter Nights 2: Limited Edition + Dragonshard -peli (NWN 2 Limited Edition + Dragonshard -game)
Limited Edition sisältää: Limited Edition includes:
- NWN 2 figuurin (NWN 2 figure)
- Bonus CD, missä on pelin taidetta ja musiikkia (bonus CD with art & music)
- Upean kustomoidun pelikotelon (Lawful Good / Chaotic Evil -> ei valittavissa!) (Great customized LG or CE package)
- Kustomoitu pelin aloitusruutu (Customade starting screen of the game)
- Kartta pelimaailmasta (map from the gameworld, that cloth map..)
- Artbook pelin hahmoista (artbook for charters of the game)
- Neverwinter Nights ykkösosan + lisärit (NWN1 + addons)
- NWN - henkeen sopivan tinasormuksen (NWN spirited ring)
- 7 päivän ilmaisen Trial-version Dungeons & Dragons Online -peliin (7 days free trial version for D&D online game)
- Jäätävän hienon metallisen juomapullon (Freezen nice metallic drinking potion)
I get:
- NWN 2 figure
- Bonus CD with 3 video clip, plenty of artworks, 21 songs, download (which are at the CD) for 3 poster, 3 print advertising, 3 screensaver & 3 wallpaper.
- Great customized CE package
- Customade starting screen of the game
- artbook for charters of the game (Chaotic Evil artbook 24 page including cover pages)
- NWN1 + addons in Platinum DVD (Made by Obisidian AND Bioware, intresting?)
- NWN spirited ring (err, atleast this one is HUGE, it is too big even my thumb!)
- 7 days free trial version for D&D online game - code. Looks like if I want to test that single / multiplay I have to download it first?
- Dragonshard game (which have BTW bigger manual inside!!)
What I did not get:
- map from the gameworld, but this is not cloth map. It is clearly paper!
- Freezen nice metallic drinking potion, nothing like this inside!
- Manual, I mean, this "manual" is only 48 pages and have like nothing included! Why I have to use my own D&D 3.5 DM & Player handbooks??
I know that last time when I had samekind of error (european version did not get nice map with Baldur's Gate game) Bioware nicely send me one in mail. After that I have bought every addon and game what intrest me from them. Allso remembered to tell my friends and time to time in forums what kind thing they did for me. That is custom support and funny thing is. They did say sorry, they send map for me in post(!) and allso when they made european version of swordcoast addon they added same map there!
What is e-mail and name for some Obsidian or Atari fellow [I like more personal touch, so I know fellow who I can mention and thanks for later in my speech for my friends] who can send me cloth map, metallic NWN2 drinking potion and full manual?
Becouse I do want to give them change to fix this before I start to tell everyone in forums and e-mails that they do not keep up they part of the bargain..
And yes, I did pay 70€ for this one even if it was possible to get NWN2 like 40€ or so without Limited Edition!
:nono:
Freezen nice metallic drinking potion
Although the game didn't come with anything like that.. what would a metallic drinking potion be? I have no idea.
what would a metallic drinking potion be? I have no idea.
i cold cup of rusty water... :-D
@mods:
could you at least explain who is responsible for what is in the boxes? is it publisher (atari) or retailer? that would help direction complaints to the right desktops...

I bet it was suppose to be here in nordic version a metallic pocket flask. But when you translate kind of word to word from another language to another
Jäätävän hienon metallisen juomapullon
From word to word it is:
Jäätävän = chilling, frosty, freezing, icy, icing, chilly
hienon = elegant, classy, fancy, exlusive (and so on)
metallisen = metallic
juoma = beverage, drink, brew, potion
pullo = bottle, cruet, flagon, flask
So feel free and figure out youself :salut2:

darn right despicable if you ask me, the advertising standards agency and trading standards should be notified of this false advertising. Once more disapointed lawfull good owner
i don't know how the rules are in your countries, but in germany only a competitor can open a case due to false advertising, the dumbfounded customers must at least get some customers' organisation to go to the courts on their behalfs.

i just hope they have expansion packs planned because i don't like the ending of the game very much. Especially because of the influense and time i put into those companions even tho i got Elanee's the highest just for Fun and to make the game seem a little more enjoyable 10sur10

Seeing how the original NWN saw two expansions, I doubt NWN2 will not see one.
It's a lot cheaper to create a nice expansion for the game because they don't have to adjust the engine and they have a good excuse to re-use a lot of resources from the first game. Also, they don't have to think up a completely new story, instead they already have a good foundation to build upon if that makes sense :)
Let's just hope Atari thinks it worth their money to invest in any expansions. So far I'm still in act one and I've been playing for two days straight. Now that's a good sign :D
in fact there's so much missing (concerning items, placeables, and - my special interest - clothing) that even a "objects only" expansion would sell well... we pw designers simply love to dwelge in visual plenty, and thanks to the new formats it'll take a while until you'll see custom made lingerie... *sigh*

People,
We had some manufacturing issues with the Limited Edition boxsets of NWN2 which resulted in a paper map being included in the box.
We now have the Cloth maps in stock. In order to receive a map, please email uk.helpline@atari.com with your address details, specifying a prefered method of contact (email, telephone number etc). Proof of purchase will be required before we send the maps out.

Just bought my Collectors Edition in The Netherlands and wish i red this thread sooner because i expected also a thick manual.
Im still baffled at the amount I spend and still no descent manual. If shipping weight is a problem then loose the trinkets and give us a descent paper manual.
I fear returning the CE wont be an option because there in none of the NWN2 packages has a descent paper manual. So i feel robbed.
Atari give us a statement and a mail adress which we can contact to have the 170 paper manual shipped. I already paid you 59 euros which should be way enough to cover this.
Hope to hear from Atari soon
