Ok, I thought I would get some discussion going on this over here because I want NWN2 to be all it can be but, these camera control issues have to be addressed, here are just a few treads to have a look at

Please, give us an option to "link" the camera rotation with the character rotation. If you take a good look at many games on the market (WoW, DDO, Oblivion, for example) linked camera and character rotation is what makes movement easy, when you have an independent camera you need a third arm to play. I hold down a button, rotate my camera, and the character rotates WITH the camera so that they are always facing in the direction I rotate.

I don’t know how this gets past focus testing, but Obsidian, Atari time to step up and get these Camera issues worked out.

hmm... i like turning the camera myself, as i'm getting dizzy when the camera moves whenever i turn my character. but i'm a bit confused - i think you already _can_ chose between different camera-modi (press * on numpad), and one of them is fixed to the world while another is fixed to the char; or do i misunderstand your problem?

I think they refer to the camara making the character rotate as well, for which there might be an option (not in the camera modes with *) maybe when the mouse can be used entirely for walking.

In games like WoW you can rotate the camera and constantly face your own behind, not too sure if that was possible with one of the cameras in NwN. It wouldn't work for me in NwN.

NwN is about roleplay, not a Hack-and-Slash-RPG-wannabe.

I expect someone will find a way to make a plugin for you if it can't be done already, but there's no need to make a big deal of it as it won't add to the game anyway.

perhaps i still misunderstand, but there _is_ a camera following you around in nwn2, turning as soon as you move, always looking the same way you go, over your shoulder (or over your head, if playing the hafling ;-) ).

if this isn't what you look for, sorry to bother you.

I have the same "problem", while in the "drive" mode camera, the camera does not rotate when i turn. Insted, when i turn, i end up looking at the side of my guys head. Also, while useing the arrow keys on the number pad, the left and right arrows do the opposite turns for me. That is, when i use the arrow on the left side that points left, I turn right.

Maybe I am completely misunderstanding, not really caring enough to toy around with all the different cams. I thought the complain was about you not rotating when the camera rotates, driving cam should do the opposite (not looking at if it does or not)? edit: Alright, after rereading post #1 it would seem the driving cam is what people are wanting, which is in.

Anyway, I still prefer the top-down-cam. Too busy listening to Neeshka and Khelgar, so far the best companions.

i find it fine with the drive down camera, it always follows my character

there are options in the graphics and gameplay that allow you to change your camera response time. Everyone has different preferences on this, so no good default was possible for all. Expect it to take you up to an hour to get it how you prefer it.

Yeah, I turned it way down for mousewheel click camera control... should likely turn off the edge-of-screen camera control, it's too slow... Even at max that's very slow, but then with the mousewheel it's undoably fast. It can use some tweaking on the programmers' side, but that might just be my opinion based on the online play, which won't feature a pause option (not in PWs at least, too many who'd get annoyed by others constantly pausing).

But indeed, everyone has their preferences.

Hmm... I played NW1 and the two expansions, never really cared for the camera setup, the game (s) were so awesome I forgave the developers. Now, after playing GW, WoW and beta-testing LoTRO (which is hella-fun, btw - go Turbine!) I want to see a modern update to how NWN handles its camera, and make it similiar to other RPG's and MMO's.
The camera, and yes I have tried all the settings, and I have a 7900 GT OC, tend to flip my stomach faster than any game I've played. It just feels antiquated to go back to a simliar camera "design" the original NWN had.
Other than that, this game is just simply amazing, I love it. Just make the camera like LoTRO's and you guys will hit paydirt.
I hope you guys are listening, because all my friends are groaning about it too and saying how lame it is (and I really want them to go online and play with them - unfortunatley for you, there are soooo many other games out there to tempt them away from an "awkward" though very cool game).

Cheers!
