I think it is pretty crazy how oblivion can run so well even on my laptop with ati radeon xpress 200m but NWN2 gives me this " the video card has less than 128MB of virtual memory, performance may be less than optimal" and then just closes on after hitting "play".

My computer has the graphics but only 512mb ram and it says "performance may be less than optimal" becuase of that, but will still run just REALLY laggy.

Really it should run smoothy just on low graphics. Any sugestions for the laptop? I checked some driver updates but not really findin anything good.

This is why I'm always playing my XBOX sour:

It does state that Minimum requirements are 128MB Direct3D compatible video card with DirectX 9.0c compatible driver

Thats a minimum.........if you dont have a 128MB card youre on a downer to start with Im afraid..... :noooo:

There are people with the same graphics card and it works for them, also oblivion had the same min. requirements and i can run it smoothly. There are even people with 128 and 256 MB and the same window pops up with the same "optimal performance" blah that i get. So, there is an odd problem that needs to be solved, and my drivers are up to date.

Hi Deoday

I've got the same problem as you

Have you been able to sort it out???

you both won't be able to sort this out. your machines are just not good enough. please don't mistake oblivion as any reference for nwn2, the gfx-engines are completely different and nwn2's electron engine simply needs more of all (memory, bandwith, shaderunits, mhz, coolness) to run smooth.

please just believe obisidian when they give you minimum requirements, they _know_ their code and won't deliberately set the min.req.s too high - who'd want to scare away customers?

well actually it is possible to sort it out.....there is a way around this.
Did a simple registry edit (as posted on the bioware forum) that fooled the machine to think my card has 128mb ram.
Runs beautifully
So much for machine not being good enough!!

Runs beautifully
does it? well, this may depend on what you're willing to accept as "beautiful".

i can hardly imagine your machine handling a scene at the shore of a misty lake depicting two powerfull mages battling each other casting effectfull spells, surrounded by a gang of fierce warriors in polished armor, wielding shimmering weapons in one, and flickering torches in the other hand - that's what i call "beutifull" and what i want to see in 1280x1024 (as that's my tft's native resolution) with detailed textures and smooth filtering, the lights blinding, the shadows lurking, and certainly not under 25 fps.

Here you can find something that might help you out. You do have to lower texture resolution ingame because otherwise it will eat up too much memory.

Basicly you are far below the minimum requirements. Your videocard is a lot slower than the minimum 9800/6600, and because of your onboard video chip you will only have 384 mb of Ram.

So don't complain about the speed, because the game was meant for systems far more powerful than yours, and the box explains it clearly.

@Fluxx: Anything less than 128mb will fall into the category 'budget cards made 4 years ago'. There isn't anything you can do, technology advances and consumers demand games to look more beautiful than ever, it's a neverending circle. Also, the game requires a Shader Model 2 compliant videocard. So this leaves out all those GF4 MX, GF4Ti and ATi Radeons numbered 9250 or lower. And many integrated cards that don't support these features.
