View Full Version : Problem with a graphic card
Hi,
I have a problem with my graphic card ATI Radeon 9250.
After installation, appear this message: "not find any compatible direct 3D devices" but is not true, because my Ati is fully compatible with Direct 3D.
Ideas ?
maybe you just haven't installed the right gfx-drivers or directX ? try (re)installing the latest drivers from ati / amd and directX from microsoft or the game dvd.

Yup, checking the system requirements before buying a game would help.
Is specifies you need a Shader Model 2.0 compatible device, the Radeon 9250 is an older card that supports only up to SM 1.4. So you will need a new videocard before the game will run.
the problem is, that some retailers and even manufacturers (e.g. sapphire (http://www.sapphiretech.com/ge/products/products_overview.php?gpid=59&grp=2)) tell you this chip is compatible to directx 9 - which it isn't, sorry, i've been misguided at my initial (short) research as well.
matter of fact there is _no way_ you can play nwn2 on this card, you won't find drivers nor any other cheats, as the hardware only supports shader model up to 1.4 but you need 2.0 at least. anyway even if it did, it would have a _very poor_ speed and quality.
actually i'm not sure if you're whole pc is fit for nwn2, if it is the same age as your graphics adaptor...

The problem is almost certainly the Radeon 9250 chipset, unfortunatley its beneath minimum specifications to run the game correctly.
As Tanita points out - its a hardware issue related to the Shader engine which isnt incorporated into your card.
Sorry but maybe its time to look at upgrading the vid card eekblue:
considering what pc's this card was usually build into you _might_ as well have to upgrade your mainboard & cpu as well as you almost certainly only have AGP but would need PCI-E for the now common line of graphics adaptors.
please post your system's specs if you want details.
Ok, thank You to all.
I just buyed a new graphic card, an Ati X1650 pro, that is compatible with NWN2.
Thankyou so much.
Bye.
and did that improve your framerate to playable ranges? just beeing curious, perhaps others sharing your system class might want to know as well...
