i was the first to get it :)
i was cruisiin with a few mates on here an got kiked off live, so i started hurlin abuse at the homehub, til i realised an update available screen had popped up

Test Drive Unlimited Title Update 2 on Xbox Live

Test Drive Unlimited for Xbox 360™ gets a serious tune up as thousands sign on daily for a blast of racing reinvented

Following the runaway success of Test Drive Unlimited on Xbox Live, Eden Games and Atari have delivered a host of enhancements with ‘Title Update 2’, available now on Xbox Live as a free automatic download to anyone with an Xbox Live connection.

Amongst the improvements in ‘Title Update 2’ are the reinstatement of E-trade, changes which make finding and racing with friends easier, further fine-tuning of the bike handling, a number of modifications to the clubs to improve usability, fixes to prevent ranking anomalies, the removal of a number of exploits (online and offline), crash fixes, upgrade of the server connection, improvements to grid vehicle positioning and more.

Microsoft provides product updates to anyone with a Live connection, even without a paid membership. If you have an Xbox Live connection, you will be prompted to download the update.

In addition to the update, as a result of the new motorbike dynamic and because of errors with some of the worldwide rankings, on Monday 20 November Eden Games will reset the following in-game worldwide server rankings for technical reasons (rankings saved locally will not be affected):
- Solo Time Challenge rankings
- Solo Speed Challenge rankings
- Solo Race Challenge rankings

The following rankings will remain unchanged:
- Ladder rankings in multiplayer Speed & Race Challenges
- Instant Challenge rankings
- Club rankings

An in-game message will be sent on Friday 17th November via the news system warning players three days in advance of the reset. Eden Games and Atari apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused.

The fixes and enhancements in ‘Title Update 2’ are as follows:


Enhancements:
• Motorbike handling tuned
• Easier to find your friends in Freeride: select the “friends” filter and click on a player to be automatically dropped in his playing session if session is not full
• Improvements to the management of game sessions in Freeride
• Speed filter added to prevent players from achieving impossible speeds in Speed Trap and Speed challenges
• Replay sequences improved

General:
• Menus: MY COUNTRY filter now fully loads when checking ranking leaderboards in the house
• Various crashes resolved
• Various exploits removed
• Progression no longer lost due to corrupted save games
• Player now always spawns at the correct house after reboot
• Gameplay fix: player can no longer irretrievably lose the current vehicle
• Microfreezes fixed
• Now possible to revert to normal paint after deluxe paint job


Multiplayer:
• E-trade now fully functional
• Clubs: no longer any issues when multiple inter- or intra-club challenges are hosted at the same time in the same club
• Players can now see each other after an Instant Challenge in Free Ride (previously if two users completed an Instant Challenge and returned to Free Ride with no other users in the session, the two users could not see each other in the session)
• Vehicle restriction must now be obeyed when accepting game invite
• Car now always correctly positioned on the starting grid, regardless of how many players enter and exit lobby
• Vehicles of players with low ping rates no longer show erratic behavior and disrupt gameplay
• Intermediate speed shown for speed challenges now always correct
• Host no longer always placed at the rear on starting line
• News messages of club invitations are no longer delayed or lost
• Drive in: limitation of 255 challenges posted removed
• Drive in: going down the first page in the list of challenge no longer makes the details of further custom challenges wrong
• Drive-in: challenges are now listed after completion of a challenge
• Incorrect record speed no longer cited in Speed Trap challenges
• Instant Challenges: Cars now always start at same point
• Gameplay: Player now able to accept Invitation to a Club after being ejected from another
• Multiplayer Races: vehicles now do not lack collision at beginning of race
• Monthly Multiplayer rankings are now based on a monthly frequency
• Users can now switch to Ready when accepting an Invitation from an Extra Challenge
• Time rankings fixed
• Speed rankings fixed
• Various exploits removed
• Police AI issues when disconnected from Xbox Live fixed

Car pack is a seperate issue from the update... as you can imagine, the update was the main focus of work... I dont have any more details about the car pack at the moment, but as soon as I do, Ill be back to let you all know....

But i need to complain a bit lolblue:

The leader on the "180MPH speed challenge" has a score of 899 KM/H. According to your post Roadrash, this should have been fixed.

I also see that you have added some smoke when you start your car :)

it's all well and good that the update is here, but i have found a problem.

When doing a speed challenge (180mph in heavy traffic) i discovered that the speed gauge on the right of screen only starts changing when i reach 40mph.

My speedometer was clearly showing me doing 206mph and i could still not end the challenge!!

What is going on?!?!?!? :hin: :hin:

First impressions:

"Teleporting" to friends does appear to be far improved. After selecting over 10 random people on the map, on only two occasions was I not immediately dropped into their session.

Not keen on the new motorbike handling, it seems to be just more of the same.

Anyone else think that the new exhaust fumes on ignition are a little over the top? There's some seriously unhealthy supercars on Oahu!

I'd like to know more specifics about what has been updated. A lot of stuff feels different to me, but I think it may be psychological, knowing that "some" stuff has been tweaked. For example...is it me or does the Ford GT sound EVEN sweeter now??!

What are your impressions all?

EDIT!! - I just got the classic "driving off the edge of the yet to be rendered world". ARRRGH!! "All known issues fixed". Ahem

The unrendered road only happens to me at one point in the whole map and that's at the long stretch of freeway next to the golf course.

I am kind of getting used to the bike handling, there's no more instant dodging traffic now which is kind of annoying but it makes you drive more cautiously, also anyone think the gravity is changed ? The bike doesn't leap in the air as high when you go over the edge of the road or a kerb it seems to go across it as you would expect. Plus probably just placebo effect but does the rider's head now move more naturally when you turn, not just left and right anymore.

They are not resetting the multiplayer scoreboards so even if they have fixed the ranked matches quitting cheat, those who have cheated all this time will still be highly ranked....

..... which makes ranked matches pointless anyway. :cry:

To be more precise, in max speed trap challenge, you must keep a speed 2 secondes to be validate. So, instanate very high speed from collision with traffics are not taken anymore.

Hey magicfr how do you go about reverting your car to it's default colour? I see it listed but with the Concepts it dims the Standard paint shop out, am I missing something obvious ? lol

The biggest of big thank you's go to Atari and Eden, this update has proved more than worth the wait. The new bike physics are awesome and have added a new eliment to the game for me, i had previously disliked the bikes so only rode them in the single player races, but the handling is superb now and all the other little touches like the smoke from exhuasts when starting the engine just go to make the game even prettier to look at.

Sorry for getting so impatient...

Yeah I noticed that too. It's a pain and just makes it harder, but would rather have a slight niggle with that than have cheating so it's all good in the long run and ya get used to it.

Thought I'd beat my record on 180MPH last night (232.8) - I saw the speedo hit 234 in the XJ220 before ploughing into the back of a van but the new anti-cheat function scuppered me as it only registered 232.0 :noooo:

Reviving an old post of mine from a while back, can you also try to explain in some way how the scoring system works in multiplayer races...I don't get it (and it would be a massive help in deciding which races to create/join).

As for your second point, I am not sure but took it to mean that monthly ratings were inaccurate or not updated monthly or updated wrong part of the month and are now updated correctly.

It's wrongly calibrated, as when you are doing 180mph, it says that you are doing 140-150mph..... :mad:

Also you have to pass more traffic making it harder :mad:

racing last night, collisions on. Cars were ghosting at the start and not touching. so.. they never fixed that.

after sum delibration i have decided that the update they promised hasnt met all expectation.

i can now no longer ride the bikes as the handleing is way to twitchy, and prefered it the way it was b4,

and i have to agree, the car doesnt register in the speed challenges i was doing 200mph and it only just registered as 191 so i gotta ask myself why? it wasnt all that bad b4 the cars handled properly the bikes were ace i wish the hadnt bothered they have spoilt the game so much that i cant b botherd to finish it now, please revert the handeling back.. please

as how it was it was more fun and u didnt need a degree in motorcycle handleing to have fun at high speed, now with the update it just seems as if as soon as u hit top speed u fall off coz the back stay the way u point ur thumbstick, rather than lifting back up making it easier, i have had many complaints from my friends over this

and i have waited from the day of launch for the car pack, and no offence the cars u have put into it are all classic please can we have more of the ideas from PGR3 with the style/speed/classic idea of car packs released it wud make it more enjoyable to get the style of car u like than just getting random cars

ty for ur time and for reading this just thought i wud voice an opinoin of a few of my friends and myself

and the idea of waether and a night wud b excellent, as seeing hawaii in the day all the time doesnt seem very realistic.

There are still serious lag and connection issues - not being able to reach players when joining online races or being invited to sessions etc.

While a lot of these problems are often attributed to the use of NAT and routers this is not always the case. I'm trying to log some of these connection issues and where possible, target host addresses.

Unfortunately the closed nature of the XBL service and the confidentiality around it makes life difficult even for those with the relevant knowledge to conduct self-help troubleshooting - it's not like we have Winsock API traces or protocol analysis tools on the 360. Even the basic in-game communication error messages (not just in TDU) are less than helpful.

This can be misconstrued as a sort of Pontius Pilate washbasin in that game developers and M$ can shirk responsibility for flawed network code or overloaded servers and start fingerpointing at ISPs and end users.
