Tinny, gas guzzling and not a particularly inspiring drive. In a nutshell... if you had paid 20 odd grand of your own money for one you'd be a bit naffed off.

Thanks for being another person ignorant to the fact that there actually ARE sport hyrbrids on the market.
The GS430 is actually quite a performance vehicle for what it offers. Such a car that I've been to Park Place here about 6 times just to drive one though I've only managed it twice.

The Lexus LS600h L is a V8 Hybrid with V-12 performance.
surely having a V8 defeats the object of hybrids. as in TO INCREASE FUEL EFFICIENCY. daftest idea i've heard in a long time. sport hybrids are as bad as 4X4 hybrids. rather than putting the technology in to make a car have slightly normal fuel efficency, why not get a car with normal fuel efficiency in the first place and save some money.
since theyre hybrid i wonder if they can get as real as it should, i.e no engine sound under 30 mph then once you increase that the enigne should start lol

HYBRIDS produce lots more CO2 when manufactured because of the chemicals and features of the manufacturing. You'd be better off in a diesel.
Also, guess what the greenest car manufacturer is?
WRONG! It's Jeep. The Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee adn Commander are all in the top 10 because they last long and they don't harm the environment as much as many family saloons when being created! eekblue:
The Prius is near the bottom and the Maybach and VW Phaeton are at the bottom.... mdr1

isnt it something like 90% of landrover defenders made since 1950 are still on the roads, or in usable condition!?
i was like - wow!
our car is diesel, and we run it on a mixture of diesel and vegetable oil.
diesel cars are the way forward, simply because they can be run on non-fossil fuels such as vegetable oil. when the oil runs out, we will be filtering the crappy bits out of oil/grease from chipshops and using it to run our car, and our existing oil powered centeral heating. and if you declare the neccassary tax then it is all legit

judging by his profile he is quite young (13), he doesnt know how to make a reasoned argument.
my only objection to diesel is the sound, but its only noticable at speeds less 10mph. (going by my '98 golf TDI estate)
infact on car journeys i find myself complaining much more about the positioning of the dog guard hooks than i do about the engine (they are right behind your head, and are big lumps of plastic, meaning that if you want to sleep then you cant just put your head back. cause you hit your head on them)
im greatful for the less frequent fuel stops aswell!
Sebringmgb
09-12-2006, 04:11
and ill always chime in and say and MGB would be a good idea for this game... of course. Only problem... i think a stock MGB would register a 1 on all the car attributes... I think a "TDU Tuned" one might be hovering around untuned saturn sky territory. The only lexus im actually looking foreward to is the LFA... as id imagine the rest of the lexus lineup will feel much like the rest of the 4-door sedans in the game. While they can be as quick as the coupes and convertibles, they just drive nasty. They feel ploddy and sluggish... The rs4 isnt so bad... but i can only imagine what a big Lexus Luxo-barge is going to feel like. And convieniently, an article i was reading comparing the plausible alternative fuel engines (there are about 12, if you break down deisel into fossil fuel, and so on) hybrids are hardly the best option for people with a longer right leg. because hi-performance driving diminishes the fuel milage to almost standard combustion engine levels. On the other hand, it is a fast car, but when driven in a certain way will save you lots of fuel and 02 output. I just think its an odd choice for a racing game... i think the only theoretical fuel savings will be before you hear go, and after you cross the line, if you arent dead last.

I'm ordering a new A3 in January.
A3 2.0Tdi 170bhp Quattro, 3-door, Xenons, S-Line PAck, 18" 5 spokes, Leather, Satnav, bose system.
Could have a 3 series instead, but don't want to pay for indicator bulbs...lol
I had the last model R32 Golf. Sounded great, looked great, stank of petrol, ate clutches and returned 18mpg average. Single figures in central London.
That's why I'm going Diesel! In my Millionaire dream world, of course I would choose petrol every time. Who's heard of an Aston Martin Diesel?
The money I save in Fuel, enables me to choose a higher specked model.

Then she should get it to the dealer for a check over. I have one myself (the 2.0 Sportback), doesn't do any of the above and certainly isn't by any means slow. It isn't a particularly quiet car inside at motorway speeds but that's because the tyres pick up a fair bit of road noise - certainly not engine noise.
Modern diesel engines are refined, relatively quiet and reliable - even ones we used to laugh at like Ford and Vauxhall. If you have to do 40,000+ business miles per year diesel is the only way to go if you don't want to be flushing money down the toilet.

S4ED - Agree with you on honda engines - bloody good, but....I'll race you anyday......(you know why I've said that) ;)
thats another good thing about Hondas, no traction control.
Honda S2000, are amazing, my dream car. im gonna get it in black with red seats one day
but it has to have the hard top with it aswell then its complete ;)
[edit] na andy i think im alright lol dont wanna get owned by you in your beautiful car. ill just keep racing people in clios and puntos lolzzz[edit]

Yeah Honda's are the best engines in my view, just before i had this one, i had a H'reg Civic 1.4 twin carb, that flew like the wind and had the same bhp as a saxo VTR, it even put out more revs than my accord...
type R's are awesome S4ED. i was looking at them before i got this one but couldnt afford the insurance
Cant beleive you got an S2000 Neil u luck ****. One day i will own one mdr1

OMG your so lucky, One dayyyy ill have it, i tired getting a old one i think it was like a V reg but insurance was like£4000 lol.
yea aphex my first car was a N reg Honda 1.5 Lsi, that was amazing aswell 115BHP which i thought was pretty good i think it used to get to 40mph in first gear if you red lined it
even tho it said Vtec in the back it never did anything after 5,500rpm, i used to boast the Vtec things to my mates tho lol after my dad bought the Type R i then realised the mighty Vtec. what anoise it makes and the power after 5,500rpm amazing

Looks like there are quite a few Honda nuts on here mdr1
I've got a DC2 Integra Type R sat outside -"the weekend car". Production #8192 which is one of the last ever UK models made.
Second only to the S2000 in the mental rev limit stakes :)
very nice, i think we have the B18C R engine in our accord, is there any easy mods which we could do to make the engine sound louder, its loud now but if it could be more it would be better. i.e taking the air vent system out and putting a K&N air flow thingy
EDIt= jus realised its not the B18C as thats a 1.8 ours is a 2.2
Edit2- its a H22a enigne

The HKS Hiper Muffler twin exit system can fit the Accord Type R. TDI Powertuning do it for £695 (I think that's fitted)
nice one crappachino, ill google it now to see how the end results look, i think it does need a exhaust change tho, it has the twin exits, one on each side except they dont make any noise at all

Look for Mugen Mod's there probably about the best for honda's, altering the in take isn't really gonna make it sound much loader but it will give you a few more horses, there are a range of carbon air intake systems you can get.
I may be wrong but i think the 2.2 engine has found its way under the hood of the U.S S2000's so there my be an ECU that raises the red line giving you 240 bhp lol then it will be load like the S2000

hmm im gonna have to look in to this :) nice one neil, at the moment its limited to 7,200rpm. just had a look at ebay and searched for H22a turbo, you can get a full turbo kit for around 850 dollars, therres a wastegate mod there to for under £100 link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/H22-Honda-PRELUDE-MANIFOLD-WITH-38mm-WASTEGATE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ005 QQitemZ150070513146QQrdZ1)

You can't us a wastegate unless you have a turbo and the 2.2 petrol in the Tyre R isn't turbo charged. If you are seriesly interested in power the best mod i have seen is a supercharging. Ramps the BHP and torque up bit time.
oh right, thats well expensive then, gotta start saving up. Do you think ill have traction problems if the engine starts pushing over 300 bhp? its a front wheel drive.
if anyone wants to see the car im on about its this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOrXFgpbvbQ

Well you will end up with series handling issue's pushing 300 bhp + through the front wheels but again there are ways around it but you are going to be talk mucho money to do it we are talking thousands here.
just of the top of my head you are going to need
1. new injectors
2. propriatory ECU mapping and fule control
3. Supercharging kit
4. a Qualiffe dif or similar
5. series front suspension mods
6. new pistons a con rod's
7. a reduction in the engine compression ratio (forced induction engines run at lower compressions)
8. probably some electronic method of reducing torgue in at least the first 2 gears(alla focus RS and ST, and i think the Vauxhall Astra VXR.
9. major break up grade
Basically what you are looking at is a MAJOR drive train change
Oh yeah lol and just wait till you tell the insurance company what you have done they will start to see ££ in front of there eyes.
Your other option is to look into a 4 wheel drive sytem but I don't know of any Tyre R's that have had that done.

Don't get me started on Hondas..
I had an Accord Type R as a company car in 2001.
Blew all the oil seals & 2 new exhausts in a single year. Electrical problems, plus I had to carry a full array of bulbs for whenever It decided to frazzle one.
Skitty handling. Had a habit of pulling into ruts in the motoway made by HGV's.
Tacky & plastic wasteland interior.
I'll never order a Honda again, I class them alongside French cars.
Went for the R32 Golf in 2003 after that Japanese nightmare!

Maybe I was unlucky and got the 'Friday Afternoon' car.
Hondas were taken off our fleet after my experiences. These cases don't help the used car market. Honda weren't too helpfull either at the time. However they fitted the bill as most of the work was covered under warranty.
Aftersales help is only really there for private customers. Sales reps are regarded as car killers. Maybe we just get the most out of the car without worrying about the cost.
They're all over you like a rash when you are choosing the car. When they find out it is via a leasing company, it's basically adios!

Fresh off the back of a lorry. Shame really, loved the performance when I test drove it. Put performance over asthetics when choosing it.
Only thing is getting given a ropey loan car when it was in being fixed..pants lol

Modern Diesels pull all the way through the range especially the turbo's...
As for whose got the biggest penis, any car can be modified to increase the rev range safely, change where the pull starts etc...
If your even a little bit smart find a car you like the look off and start there...
Mind you Jap cars still have to be the easiest to tune...

Well, even if I still liked honda, the new range look really naff. I've already had VW, so fancy a change. I know about the chassis link, I could even choose the new TDi VRS Octavia, but I have an Audi dealer at the end of the road.
Yes, they do not want to know you if they can't supply the car. The cheap cufflinks and acrid over generously applied aftershave does get up your nose, but I'll give them a go.
Skoda will not be a choice, as yes, I had the last VRS Octavia in a previous job. I've got a £27k budget, I may as well use it.
If anyone can suggest a potent diesel within budget that would fit the bill, let me know.
I looked at the BMW 120 M sport but hate the bent chassis look!
Im driving an is 200 rental car at the moment and its f***ing s**t.
As a matter of a fact i think i will crash it and do the world a favor.

You must have been a very rare case Cheesetastic with your Type R, i cant understand that, unless it wasnt serviced properley at the main dealers? They do need regular services. S4ED_K your very brave only servicing it once in three years!!! :nono:
Im a bit worried now yopuve started talking bout rep cars. Mines was an ex-repmobile. And theres a strange noise coming from underneath the car!Sounds like your next door neighbors hoovering up,what the hell could that be?
lol i think we've serviced it twice, once from honda then after that we did it our self as its not that hard, changed the plugs, oil, air filter, oil filter and service done :) sorry, dunno about the noise from the engine
