If you have a problem with lag you'll find it's something to do with one of your individual connections. Who is your isp?

my connection is 16mps on my pc but TDU is the only game on XBL that lags for me and i wish atari/eden would sort there servers out

If you're hosting an online race, you become the server.

In freeride, the TDU servers may be managing who joins and leaves a session but what appears to happen is that one of the players in the session becomes the game host. I have posted an enquiry to Atari requesting clarification about this but haven't yet receive a response.

In both cases, it's your bandwidth that's being used to host the sessions so if you have a slow connection or your upstream traffic is being throttled by your isp then you, and other players in the session will have problems with lag.

Your upstream bandwidth is key here, not your downstream bandwidth. Even if your upstream access is rated at 512Kbps your isp may be implementing traffic management/traffic shaping which may throttle your max upload at various times of the day and/or if you exceed a certain upload limit. NTL are doing this in certain areas for example.

In that case you don't have anything to worry about (yet). The reason I asked about your isp is that myself and a fair few other NTL subscribers I've spoken to are having lag problems with various online games including TDU.

Edit: a lot will depend on how your Dad stopped it. If he just stopped the direct debit, then he should have talked to BT first.

Your download speeds dont effect your lag :/

Its all to do with ping if you have a low ping you wont have lag. But then you could be connected to a mexican so your ping will be 150+ rather than 10+ to an english person. Could of been somoeone else in your party causing you to lag or i could be your ports?

Or maybe your getting lag sprites/packet loss.
