Hey guys, yesterday we got a message from atari germany with new informations about the tdu website, pc-, xbox-, ps2-, psp-version.

But i think i will posts the informations about the pc version (too lazy to translate the hole message^^)

- Eine Closed Beta mit 5000 Teilnehmer wurde heute gestartet
- Open Beta ab Januar 2007 mit 25.000 Teilnehmern. Registrierung über die Webseite von IGN
- DERZEITIGE Systemvorraussetungen:

in theory 5600 can run a 2.0 shader, but its simply a slow GPU so it wont run at a descent rate => youll get a choppy framerate even at lowest settings.

Maybe low. The Geforce FX series really aren't that great - which is even an understatement - with Shader Model 2. Don't expect too much. If you can afford it, how about the Geforce 6800 LE (Alternate heeft hem nu voor €99) ?

It looks like this closed beta is only available to subscribers of fileplanet and one other gaming site. Thus, if you pay the $30-40/year for a subscription then you'll have the ability to participate in the beta. Otherwise wait and see unfortunately. New info and pc videos are supposed to arrive within the next week. (I'm just relaying this from 'Somethings' in the 'PC Demo' thread) :)

ok, last night i subscribed to fileplanet for a month, its only $6.95 US, you can also do it on 3dgamers for for like 2 bucks cheaper but i trust file planet so i used them, you dont have to sighn up for a full year, if you already have a fileplanet account witch is free and easy to set up you can go to the top left hand side and it should say welcome "your username" and have a little link to log out, below that is 4 options im not sure what it says but one of them is about subscribing, when you click on that it comes up with a whole bunch of payment options one of them is 6.95 a month billed monthly, if you only want the TDU beta you should probably use this one after that you put in all your credit card details or paypal or watever you have and you are a subscriber, in your options you can cancel your subscription so it wont bill 6.95 to your account the same time next month but you will still be a subscriber for that month untill the same time the next month, dont worry if another beta or anything like that comes out later and is only for subscribers because you can subscribe for a month again, i did the exact same thing with the 2142 beta, so, after you are a subscriber you can click on the TDU beta on the home page and it will take you to a thing were you fill out your information about your computer specs and games you have just so they kow what type of audience are intrested in the game, after that you can download the beta and it comes up with a page with 3 links, 1 to download the beta, 1 to go to the beta forums and another to submit a bug (you need a password for the forum which is emailed to you) up the top of that page is your beta key, the file is 3.5GB, thats it, i am downloading the beta now and it will take me a while because its a big file but its only just under $9 australian for me and i think thats well worth it, i will post again once i have played the beta and tell you what its like.

Your specs look good to go... Your GFX card is the weakest point if you're talking leading edge. I guess the only way to find out is run it.

My card is pretty good i mean, it'll be able to play games full graphics. like train simulator 2004. my bro's comp has the same processor as mine. and has an ati. card. but just isnt as good as my nvidia. his is pretty good but we tried train simulator on his comp and it just didnt match up to mine his is a 512mb graphics aswell. but im not sure which ATI it is.

Clidefrog do you have any idea what point and where you type in the beta key? I've been downloading the beta for like 20hrs now...got to 2.7 of the 3.6gig and then my pc froze so I had to restart. Fileplanet's Download Manager then decided to resume the download from 300mb for some reason, despite the existing 2.7gig still being in cache within my fileplanet folder. WTF -_- Another 24hrs to get the damn file again sour: Is anyone aware of a way to redirect the download link to the existing 2.7gb cache file using the Fileplanet Manager client?

if not just clean your cache and start over

Well you don't exactly pay for the beta, you pay for a suscribtion that gives you the right to get to it.

7$ might be nothing, but it is just ridiculous to pay to get access to something that is probably buggy and far from being finished!

I'm really having a hard time understanding atari's politic right now...why don't they just make us go on a webpage, ask for our name, email, what game we've tested and so forth and then randomly select people to test this beta. It would be fair AND free...

ok, i downloaded the beta last night and have been playing the whole day, it is a wicked game, the entire island is accessable, it starts of exactly how the 360 version does with chosing your character from the line at the airport, once in oahu you have $200,000 the first thing you spend it on is renting a car there are about 6 to choose from starting from $800 per 10 mins, there is an option to rent for 20 mins also but if your not going to dordle 10 minuits is the best, from there you drive to the realestate agent to buy a house, the cheapest is $150,000 and has 4 car spaces, after buying a house you have 3 car dealerships tochoose from for your new car (i have forgoton what they are) since you only have $49,200 to spend most of the cars available are in your range, after you have brought a car you go to your first race and after that you are free to d whatever you want, you can go to your house and customise your apearence (which is realy good, you have more optios than the sims2), you can go around looking for online and offline races, buy new cars from any dealership (they are all there) the whole island is your oister, and the only bug i have experienced is when i quit the game it comes up with that thing saying the program had incountered an error and had to end wich doesn't bother me because i was quiting anyway, once you sighn up for fileplanet you can start downloading straight away, it gives you a link to the beta forums to and you are emailed a password, once you are done downloading the beta witch is 3.47 GB but you would have to expect that because of its stunning graphics and how big the island is, as far as i am concerned this is a full game and for 7 bucks your doing prety good, if i went to EB rite now and spent 100 dollasr on a game it would not be as good as this beta, anyway, after you download , unzip and install the beta it willl ask you for your key wich is emailed to you and is also on the page you downloaded the beat from, you enter it in, launch the game, and log in using a gamespy arena account which are free just google it if you dont have one then you log in and for som reason you have to enter your beta key again and then your in the main menu, select new game and your in the airport waiting in line to go through the gate, oh and also you may want to click on options and checkout your controls or if you have a steering wheel you can enable it but dont worry about the sensitivity and stuff you can do that in once your in game, you can ajust your seat hight, steering sensitivity and things like that. so, for 7 bucks it is a bargain pluss you get to download any other beatas or demos on fileplanet so it is definately worth it. :atari: 10sur10

Im still waiting for my beta key. I have full subscribtion on fileplanet, and i signed up the first day the beta whas released, but still don't have any key. :(

i subscribed to fileplanet the second day the beta came out and i could get it straight away, for the people who cant find there beta key the beta key, it should be at the top of the page that gives you links to the beta forum and a bug submiting page, if it is not there it should have been emailed to you (check your junk folder) and if it is not there you can go to fileplanet and at the top left it says logout, disable ads, upgrade now, membership benifits, and my account, click on my account and that will take you to a page called my account settings and down the bottom it says beta keys archive, there it has all the keys for all the betas you have ever participated in including TDU.

If you want the key you have to be a subscriber. With a free account like i have u can't do anything.

i had a free account to, and then i subscribed, its only $7, and i bet you people will be the ones complaining about bugs in the final release. $7 isn't that much especialy since your not actualy paying for the TDU beta you are also paying for full speed patches, demos, mods, beta and trial game downloads with no wait time, how about you take out another morgage on your box or sell your children on ebay to raise the money. if you dont have $7 now then i don't know how your going to pay for the final copy unless you steal it, wich is illegal by the way.

It should be us getting paid for testing the games and not the other way around. Its the beta testers that give feedback if its any bug or somesort of exploits etc ect. It is us that do the damn job. If you with that mean me. I won't compain if there are gona be any bugs in the final release, becouse i never did about a game. Every game has some bugs, becouse people can't make a " perfect " release. I subcribed to 3dgamers the same day they started to offer betakeys for TDU, i applied RIGHT after the fking banner came to their site, but the form doesn't work for me nor it works for anyone i know. I did a little research and it seems like no one has got the betakey from 3dgamers, only fileplanet. Is this a scam or what? yeah, it was only around $6 so not a big deal but im not gonna subscribe for fileplanet and spend another $10 just to get a fking betakey. Thank you 3dgamers, thank you ALOT for making a POS website that doesn't even work. I know lotsa people who thought about buying this game but haha, not anymore..they'll get it for free.

If it's 7600GS from Galaxy it should be fine for playing on medium details in beta. But at all we don't know how it will works in the full version but it should be better optimized.

Your processor won't work ... it needs to be at least 2.0ghz or it will run the game, then shut down. It will not play ... trust me. I had everything but the card and it wouldn't play. Now that I have a 512mb card, it works good ...

Your wrong. The Athlon 64 is way better than the Intel Pentium D. Ive seen benchmarks between both and the Athlon walks all over the Pentium D. The only Intel CPU that is better than the Athlon 64 is the Intel Core 2 Duo.

But you guys are also forgetting that its your Graphics card that also counts for gaming. If your Graphics card is old and rubbish then games wont look too good on your system. With an old Graphics card your games will have slow frame rates also. In most new games they mostly rely in a good (More recent) Graphics card to run properly.

Pentium D have good OC and it's better than normal Athlon 64 http://pclab.pl/art15696-3.html

Those benchmarks are weak. I have a benchmark score of 1110 with my Athlon 64 3700 OC to 2.4ghz

I personaly have a microsoft side winder.
its like major old. i bought it for midtown madness 2. (back in the stoneages :p)
lucky for me its made with ubs one.
no drivers availble anymore, most recent is for windows 2000.
but most games recognise the wheel in the options. so i can stil use it.
its so much fun. (has gearshifters on the back of the wheel, like the lambo's in test drive)

ow yeah, i also found out the my 3000+ (1,6 ghz) will play the game perfectly. since the min specs fot GRT2 are also 2 ghz, and i own that game and runs fine :)
also my 1024 mb ram covers all i need and the 512 grafixcard is good to.

Now counting down till the official specs are released by one of the mods :D

I have stated that the Intel core 2 duo is better than any AMD so I am not realy that much of an AMD fanboy. I myself may just change to the C2D if the motherboards get cheap enough.

I don't say from any but C2D>Athlon 64 X2. Quad cores are not take into account.

Motherboards good for OC ( you can buy some cheap for less than 100$ but I preffer something better for OC)

i dont think you'll notice a diference.
dual core from intel or ati.
i think that at the moment there arent any programs/games that are heavy enough to actualy see, feel or notice the difference.

unless you go and use some of those meashuring programs to get all the stats. (dont think you use it on daily bases dough)

so in my eyes, any dual core looks very good.

i wish i had the money to buy one :)

EurosTHEgreat you can see diference Core2Duo have more cache, better OC and very good structure its just more powerfull than X2 in similar price. And ATI produce graphic chipsets not processors tonguegre

kwl. did u overclock it with core centre cool'n' quiet. thats come with most msi motherboards. mine was origonally a 2020mhz, now is 2220mhz.

everything went fine, until i played a game that demanded a bit to much and things started to smell like melting plastic :)

lucky for me it was only a cheap motherboard.
thats the risk of pushing it always a bit harder :)

now i have a better one and dont go that far anymore :)

It is dangerous if you dont know what your doing. I know that My cpu can go that bit further with overclocking (I thin k around 2.6ghz) but I dont want to push it that hard so im sticking to 2.4ghz

My 2.8 GhZ P4 is clocked to 3.45 GhZ and is stable as a mountain, fan cooling
At 100% CPU usage it's at 49-51c (celsius) degrees :)

The open beta is stuposidly going to have 25,000 people. Once the full game is released they will shut down the beta servers and it will not work. I Think!

This is a load of ****. Firstly, you can't look at things in such narrow-minded way. Things change, technology changes... sometimes AMD makes a better CPU, sometimes it's Intel. Sometime ATI makes better GPU, sometimes Nvidia. Standards are changing and so is tradition... at this time it's not possible to say that ATI makes great cards, but crapy drivers as it was possible in the past. Also, with 8800 being released it is also not possible to say that Nvidia doesn't support AA+HDR or that ATI has better image quality at this point.
In this moment Intel is making better or should I say faster CPUs, but there are lots of compatibility problems with Core 2 Duo based motherbords. Also, Nvidia has the leader in GPU market at this moment, but it's far from being great... there are lots of problems with some games because of drivers and lack of patches.
What will be ATIs and AMDs response, it's yet to be seen, but like I said we will have to WAIT and see and not making assumptions based on some unreliable informations.

And for your information, it is not known when R600 will be released. It was moved to January, but since AMD bought ATI (and AMD has the policy of not announcing releases), the real information is not availible.
