How would you rate TDU?

Just wanted to know what the overall opinion of people on the forum. Out of ten, what would you give Test Drive Unlimited?

I gave it a 9/10, its a great game but many things have gone wrong.

i give it an 7
its a good galme and original idea but without patches (i got a tdu without patches) they are a lot of glitches
drive too fast and you fell into nothing and kinda stuff
i cannot wait untill tdu2

TDU is a good game really. Graphics are really nice, lots of cars, every single one with it's own dashboard view, a huge island to cruise on...

But on the negative side :

-Some cars have horrible engine sounds, making me hate to drive them : the RUF, the lexus, the muscle cars, the saleen....
-The little details that are not fullfilled : digital speedometers, nothing to clean the windows that get dirty after a few seconds...
-Once the game is finished, there's nothing to do but roam around with people who often don't give a **** about you or ram you from behind. Basically, if you don't pay for live, you'll get bored really quickly as there's nothing to do.
-Even though it is now supposed to be fixed, the trade system is still...slow.
-Bad garage managment : you can't organize your cars the way you want and when you have a lot of them, it's a pain in the *** to find the one you want on the map when pressing left while cruising and selecting your different houses.
-No weather changes, no real tuning option (not talking about pimping stuff) like rims.
-Ridiculous AI : cops are really stupid, trafic cars change lane when you arrive (and sometimes change back immediatly). This means it is impossible to actually make a good police chase which could have elevated the fun factor imo.
-The game gives a hard time to my xbox when I drive fast in the big town. It lags and sometimes the virtual world can't keep up while being generated => road disappears and I fall into the road.
-Useless hitchhicker missions => what the hell do I do with 300 coupons :mefiant: . Money would've been more usefull.
-DL packs are not free : I don't know what the next one is going to look like, but the last one wasn't worth it (imo again).
-not enough japanese sport cars tonguegre

Basically, these are minor things, but they kinda kill the fun...'specially the bad engine sounds...I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me on what I've listed, but hey, this topic asks us how we rate the game so here I go :wink2:

As Said it could Do With Weather Being able to Clean the Windscreen and id even go as far as saying Making a Night Time...add these 3 and A Renault Clio 182 :p and the game is 100%

My point exactly!I gave it 7.5/10 fun if you have friends 2 cuise around with(But if you dont)No point of having the game after it´s finished!

i give it a seven for several reasons.

Pros:
*A free roaming car game, which is always fun
*MMO, being able to cruise around with friends
*Greatly detailed interiors
*Giant Island to cruise around with, and is a good replica of Hawaii
*Able to do stuff with you car u cant in any other game(roll windows down, turn radio up or down, open doors)
*A decent ammount of great cars
*Monthly car packs to keep the game alive
*

Cons:
*Its a pain in the *** to get set with ur friends and very easy to lose them in cruise if in a populated area or if u want to change cars.
*From a MMO point of view, this game is ****. A MMO needs to have alot of selection and only 90 something cars with release for a game thats gonna have 10s of thousands of ppl online, that is very weak. Also being able to see only 8 other cars make the island feel really deserted
*No real ways of making your car stand out from others, no manufacturer body kits, not enough rim options, and engine tuning should of been taken a step farther and more detailed
*No digital speedometers or gauges work in the game, making some cars impossible to drive correctly with in-car view
*No night or weather changes, the island never being night makes it very strange...
*Should be able to do more then any car game has and be more true to releality(windshield wipers, turn signals, working milage system inside the car, working headlights, able to look at engine, lights inside the car for night driving, a gas system using the cars real mph, all of this would of made the game truly great)
*Should of gone the extra mile of getting hard to get lisences like porsche(forza and pgr did it) and BMW(forza, pgr and GT did it) to truly make this a great game expierence

it may sound like the game has alot of things wrong with it but i only got detailed on the cons so we can hopefully see improvements if they make a sequel. overall this is a great game, but it could of been taken a step further

I was wrong. Atari didn't even send all of the cars from start and now I can't get them. :mad: Some of the cars I'd heard about (that really made me look forward to playing this game) wasn't there.

I gave it 6 - for pretty much the same reason (apart from I DO have xbox live and race online). And TBH, I dont think its all that its cracked up to be!

1st - You have to PAY EXTRA for cars that you thought were IN the game when you bought it (Murci Roadster & 250GTO mainly as they're on the back cover). Im sure this could lead to a VERY expensive court case based on false advertising for Atari if someone was rich and bored enough, as nowhere I can see on the cover does it say "some cars depicted may need to be downloaded" etc...

2nd - Servers are VERY hit and miss so online experience isnt all that (but that comment is biased towards recent server issues).

3rd - WAY too over-rated Saleen! I think that car has spoiled the game tbh. I dont see many ppl in europe or the states buying this car that often based on tuning capability as its not as good as the game suggests anyway! But the game, its the fastest car by MILES!!

4th - WAY too UNDER-rated Skyline (another story, lol) and Murcielago (the car has 4WD - in the REAL world it would walk all over a Saleen and Koenigsegg in the twisties due to the 4WD system having superior traction coming out of the tight/slow corners - but alas it doesn't in this game... Hmmm... (Referring to "Takling the Giant Hairpins" race))

5th - No where NEAR enough support/updates (not DLC's, i mean communications) from the game developers. This is Atari's own Forums - you'd expect the developers to take note of whats being said here, esp since most people feel they got 1/2 or 3/4 of a game (not including Tenebra and the other mods as they are the only ones who ARE doing a great job IMHO).

i gave it a 7

the ideas are great, but some of the implementation is either shoddy or completely unfunctional

the games not a turd though, it just needs a good deal of polish and it will be there.

graphics = gorgeous
island = a very nice achievement indeed
car selection = not as good as forza/GT4 but still decent
challenges = seem well thought out and help you discover the island

but then

*trade is rubbish
*the physics seem out of whack and sometimes go completely awol
*engine noises are great on some cars, poor on others, and completely wrong on one (SLR! sounds like a washing machine, and the SL65 is wrong too. infact the Caddy XLR or what ever it is sounds more like the SLR)
*houses and garage idea is clumsy
*lots of issues with lag
*animation of the cars wheels at speed is absolute rubbish
*ohau has 1 fire engine per square foot
* cars with super chargers.... why do they get the same noise as cars which are turbo'd? turbo's have a sucky whistly rushing of air noise....super chargers have a distinct whine.
* did they run out of budget for the muscle cars? every pig-iron V8 on the game has the same generic sound
*missing interior and exterior features on cars.... ie missing speedos, missing air brake off the SLR, speedo's that are wrong (ie reading 160 when your going 180)
*odd occasions where you actually go too fast for the game and end up in a sea of brown.
* 8 players per area or what ever sucks, and if you press the map button you lose everyone.
*AI cars are retarded.... who's ever heard of driving into your path as a means of avoiding an accident?


those arent too major in terms of problems, and theyre more like gripes since witht he exception of lag and sometimes screwy physics they dont affect game play
