YES its offline or at least it´s going to be today and the open beta will start at 22.January with 25.000 Keys. Client not available yet, RegLink not available yet.

Seems that this game makes people damn crazy...those information are all over the forum and almost every single thread, don´t know how one can avoid that. ;)

In the NDA it does indeed clearly state that you accept that ALL information relating to the game is regarded as "Confidential Information". So in essence, no screenies, no vids, and technically no talk of it. Sucks. But thats the price of beta testing, total confidentiality.

I'm pretty sure not, the 360 and PC versions will be separated servers from what I understand, though if I recall there is some new technology in Windows Vista that will allow joint gaming over different platforms - ie. 360 + PC. :)

Quite right, I had a 360 and sold it simply because a decent driving controller wasnt available, the ol' Logitech Momo came back out, upgraded the PC, and havent looked back since, console gaming has its limits, and for the 360 right now that limit seems to be a lack of decent controllers!

It's very good for an old PS2... the graphic style on the 360 and the PC disappears totally; it's an "other" TDU.

some things i liked, some i didnt.

the GPS seemed better in PS2, with a nicer looking turn arrow, better contrasting colours for where to go, where you have been and the other roads, and on-map icons.

Did not like the driving style meter (which went up accompanied by the word 'drift'). it seems too PGR-esque

I think a lot of folks give the 360 version a bad rap because they expect Need for Speed/Import Tuner Challenge and it's just what it states - a Test Drive. The game doesn't have a real plot - you race, you earn money, you get cars, you get houses ... that's it. But ... it's sooooo awesome to cruise around Oahu, racing cats from other countries. What is lacks in depth, it makes up for in gameplay. You can put it down, come back in a few days or weeks and it's still a good game. And the downloadable cars adds flavor to the game constantly ...

Tru dat, ya I'm not dissapointed with them either, from what I've gotten to see and experience, I'm blown away, at first I was like, well Idon't know, this doesn' seem as great as I thought but once you get going on it, it's pretty amazing.

I was mad because they delayed it 4 months but now that I think about it, the game will lack a lot of the bugs it would've had, and maybe they threw in some cool secrets that the 360 version lacked! That would be nice.

It's finished (not to quote Scripture ...). The PS2/PSP versions were finished before melbourne house was sold to Krome Studios in like December. I dunno why the PS2/PSP versions are delayed ... maybe they want to release all of the versions together. However, I vote to release the PS2/PSP versions since they are finished and just let the PC version get finished. Eden House is trippin' ...

As far as the PC version, I think the bugs are a reason for the delays ... and I doubt seriously it will get any more extra features than what's in it now ... but that shouldn't delay the other products from shipping. I am not a mod, or an insider ... just speculating ... but I think we should get an appetizer while we wait for the main course ... but for me, the appetizer rocks totally!!!!!!

All of the cars - 72-75 - will be on the retail disk. Only the 360/PC versions will features downloadable cars. But even without the Ferraris (I love the 612) and bikes, it's still an awesome game ...

Yeah but I know something about programming and I can't see the reason ( maybe cash but not tech problem) to put the DLC cars that are done and are in Xbox 360 version in DL packs. So why we can't get some of those car's for waiting? Yeah X36 users need to pay but time is money so...?

No you wrong! Most time and money ( car license is expensive) is graphic job like 3d models and textures put that into PC is easiest thing in that all car making :)

If there will be no DLC it will suck! But hey Eden I still remember NFS Porsche the cars like 928, GT2 and GT3 were to dowload for free!!!

The very fact that Down-Loadable Cars (DLCs rolleyesa) exist means that the cars are nothing but a bunch of data assets.

Essentially a car is a bunch of gear-ratios, engine powers, some meshes, and a bunch of textures, audio, and additional data (like camera positions and other miscellaneous stuff). There is no code involved.

The thing about downloadable cars, is that as soon as one person on a PC has a car, it is simply a matter of working out which files were added, and "ta-da" everyone has the car.

I'm guessing that additional protection will be built in to the saved-game files and car-files on the PC to stop people hacking the game but at the end of the day, both the data (check-summed, encrypted, or otherwise protected) and the key (the way of accessing that data) exist on the same machine.

The file formats will be reverse engineered.

Atari can take one of two views on this ... the first is that it's a really bad thing and they can spend the cash to attempt have everything as locked down as possible. The second is that car mods although not supported officially are accepted.

How this affects on-line play is interesting to work through.

Personally, I'd allow modified cars on-line but have the car names marked in someway so that other players can see that it is a modified car (even if it does have the same name as an existing one).

I'm betting that Atari will endevour to lock everything down to the max, but it will take less than a year before you can download additional skins and cars for the PC version. As well as generating endless threads about how modding should have been supported.

If they tacitly accept modding (possibly even providing unsupported and rough specs for the file formats), then this really will be a unique game, and sell better because of it.

I doubt there will be modding just for the fact that it's gonna be difficult to allow those mods supported in the one server, since everyone is connecting to the same server, everyone will have to have that skin/mod for it work, otherwise certain people with modded content won't be able to connect because it differs from the server. Basically, I doubt third-party modding is possible with this game just because everything is ran from one server.

Now, making TDU have DLC shouldn't be difficult because when you login they could require a patch to be downloaded that will incorporate that new car/modification and everyone will have to get it to be able to play...I don't see how that would be that much of a hassle, they'll already be releasing patches to fix bugs, why not add a car or two here and there as well?

Also, tenebra, I thank you for trying to get us some official specs, they are long overdue and will be welcomed. There are too many people on both the Euro forums and the USA forums that are asking for specs, but no one really knows what the minimum and recommended specs are. So thanks for finding those out for us.

But they already have a set of default skins and models for cars for which you don't have the correct data for. Do a search for "orange skins" or something like that. I forget the detail now as it didn't interest me that much.

Basically there are a bunch of XBox-360 users that haven't downloaded any of the free content packs and see other people with cars bought from the X-Box live market place as having unusual skins.

Trackmania does the same thing. As have all of the UT games.

It's not a particularly difficult problem to solve. Heck, you could even specify a default model and texture to use within the custom vehicle.

Hmm interesting...well if that is the case, I hope there will be skinning/modding support...I just assumed because on games like CSS and Battlefield 2142...if someone has a custom skin/mod you can't join a server taht doesn't have it loaded onto the server, same if your joining a server running mini-mods, you can't join unless you have that specific mod.

The graphics are sick for the PS2/PSP. The test build sucked, but they (Melbourne House) really cleaned up the graphics ... it's a very, very, very sweet game ...

In france we got some screens from the PSP and PS2 version, on Gametrailers.com you can find 2 new vids on those versions. About PC nothing new.... as usual !

Been reading this last page about modding and DLC content. But I didn't get one thing : will there be less cars available on the PC because there's no DLC? I understood someone said that the stuff was already ingame so it's only a matter of unlocking, but still, kinda unfair if you ask me. Modding is a problem since this game is supposed to be played online. But I remember when I played trackmania nations (sweet game btw) some people managed to mod their cars into other things (there even was a cow once).

Anyway...I love my xbox more and more tonguegre

Great News ! TDU is gold ! The OFFICIAL date is the 23/03/07 or the PS2 and PC versions and the 30/03/07 for the PSP. It has been confirmed that the PC version is more beautiful than the 360 version !!! :p

About setting for now it's "wait and see" because it seems that there has been a big evolution between BETAs and the final game, so... I think you would play in medium setting in 1024*768 but maybe the game is perfectly optimised and you'll be able to play in good conditions ! ;)

TDU is out so I can put back my vids from the BETA now ! They've been downloaded over 40 000 times so thanks a lot !!! Anyway I think they won't be useful cause I'm sure you all purchased the game !!! :atari:
