does the AC 289 count as a muscle car?

i hear people defining the shelby 427 as the 'ultimate' muscle car, and it is basically just the same as the in-game AC, but with a bigger engine...

oops, never mind...

just noticed its 7pm MST... you guys are like, 5/6 hours behind us right? making it 2am on the 28th for us brits.

moparman440
24-12-2006, 02:47
It counts, the engine is a 289 small block Ford. Carrol Shelby installed the engines in them back in the day.

out of interest:

whats the (is there a) difference between the AC 427 and the shelby 427?

and another question, why does an american engine make it an american car, i mean, if i put a TVR straight 6 into a mustang it wouldnt be a british car, no?

moparman440
24-12-2006, 02:53
Well, the AC CObra is a direct relative to the Shelby Cobra so I would say it's a muscle car.

The AC Cobra was built in England just because there was an American Engine in it doesnt make it American

Thats like saying the Pagani Zonda is German because it has a Mercedes Engine in it

moparman440

Does it matter then. It's a British Muscle car. That good enough.

the Viper is not a muscle car.

The engine is the heart of the vehicle and that drivetrain for the AC Cobra was also of American design. Dude what they hell do you have against America anyway? Its not like I go around making smartass comments of the UK.

moparman440

It's a modern muscle car along with the Vette and Ford GT.

Viper is barely in context of a muscle car but the Vette which is a sports car and the Ford GT which is a supercar and most definitely not a muscle car. You could count a Viper SRT-10 a muscle car but the GTS ACR is a sportscar. The difference is that one was designed for performance the other for fun.

He didn't say he had anything against them from what I can see, he's just getting hostility from you for no reason, and going on what you say then the Zonda is German, the Pantera is American, the AC Cobra is American... Yeah right!

By that logic the Elise is a Toyota, then. And the McLaren F1 and its offspring are all BMWs. Fortunately, for the Elise, at least, such is not the case. There's more to a car than its motor.
