Can subs bought from the US be used in the UK. Been told by someone they can and someone else they cant??

If I remember rightly there was someone else on this forum using a US XBL account here but they were having problems renewing the subs. I'll have a butchers through and see if I can find the post.

Bought my live code from an American on ebay (£20), the code was emailed to me and it works fine. (I am in the UK btw).

I got a 48hour trial if someone needs it.
