if ya search this forum there are a few threads on there relating to this issue. i havnt been able to play for three months. Tenebra, eden and atari all seem to be completely ignoring this problem. i have tried many times but tenebra keeps saying they are workin on it. It has now been three months and no word on wat causes the problem or how to fix it. hundreds of people have reported same issue. most start again but i wont.

What makes you think that anybody is ignoring it? It's not like you can release upgrades on Live in a week.

So I did say that they're working on it :mefiant:

No i dont think you can release it in a week but i should have thought you can release upgrades within three months. I mean they did release 2 car packs in that time.

I arent blaming you for problems tenebra i just wish i had an answer on if / when they will fix this problem that alot of people have experienced.

When I had no broadband, I couldn't play this game offline. This is a gross mishandling of game content from Eden/Atari and shouldn't be allowed to happen. I was offline for two weeks and through that whole time I couldn't play testdrive. To say I was peeved is an understatement.

Why couldn't this game work offline? I think the answers need to happen and if not a solution straight away, at least official word from Atari or Eden, preferably both to recognise and apologise for this problem. I think that might at least make people feel better and to know that they are addressing the problem. Having a moderator on some forum say it's being handled is not acceptable from a company this big.

I'm a developer myself and if we don't listen to what our players say to us, we're going under. We don't have the money or security to be as complacent as Atari seem to be at the moment.

So, please Atari or Eden, whoever you feel to be responsible for this, please can we have the official word on this on the official website.

It's not too much to ask is it?

Peace

My xbox crash 2 weeks ago i just received the other one from Microsoft and i have the same bug as you, the only way to launch the game for me is

So i launch i click on start and "continue the game" (i guess it's that for you my game is in french) then the Live crash i relog on the live i click no when the game ask to restart, then i reclick on continue the game, the game tell me that there is some content.... i click ok to go to the marketplace when im on the marketplace i dl again one of the pack, back to the game the game ask to restart i restart and finally after that it's ok

So pretty boring

And btw dj_faceplant

We don't have the money or security to be as complacent as Atari seem to be at the moment.

Atari is pretty poor actually (http://cf.finance.yahoo.com/q/ks?s=ATARD if you want to check) so they shouldnt be like that but Bonnel is just an idiot so :)

Hey dude, thanks for the link, but coompared to our little team, they're doing a lot better.. But, that's business, i'm not going to cry about it (much).

We're just going to keep on building the best game we can until someone decides to dump a huge development budget in our laps..

This si a problem. I'm sure atari are aware of it, and i'm sure they're on the case. Being a Dev I know the score and I feel bad for shouting. But 2 weeks without TDU? I was in tears...

It's their fault for making it so good that I felt the loss so keenly I suppose...

Ho humm..

Peace

Try three months without it and still counting with no word at all from anybody on what is causing the problem, whether they can fix it or even if they are actually aware of problem. Oh well - no wonder this game (and atari) is the laughing stock of the gaming world.

Hi,

Ive posted this ovr on the XBOX forums, and thought it may help some people here too. Its not a perfect fix for the issue, but it does help you get back playing the game with your current save game.

I found a fix for this, and I can still play my game offline now....

The "fix" does mean that you can play offline, but CANT use any of the downloaded content anymore though, so may not be for everyone, but it could help people out if you just want to carry on with the game and dont care about losing the odd extra car. If you want to use your downloaded content, you wil need to be n live when you want to play the game.

1. Dont boot the game up. Go into your gamer profile and delete ALL the extra content, just the car downloads etc, leave the savegame.

2. Restart console connect to XBLIve and boot up the game.

3. When you continue your game and you get the message that the profile contains refferences to content no longer available, use the option to go into the marketplace and download the content again that you require (luckily I knew that I only had one of the extra cars - the lexus, so I only needed the one bit of content). If you dont know what you require, download all your previously downloaded items.

4. Return to the game by pressing B - the message should have change to say "extra content is available, please restart game" or similar. Accept the game restart and allow the game to reboot.

5. Once the game has reloaded, it should let you go into your game as long as you are connected to live.

Heres the choice. You can either stop at this point and play your game whilst connected to Live. If you try and play offline, you will get the message again. If you want to be able to play offline, and dont care about using any extra cars, then carry on....

6. Go to TRADE and sell ALL of the cars in your garage that came with extra download (the Lexus IS350 for example). Just sel them for the nominal fee, rather than trying to sell to other plaers etc. Once you have sold ALL the cars that came with the extra packs, go back to freeride and allow the game to save your progress.

7. You now have a save game that has NONE of the extra cars in your garage.

8. Exit to the dashboard. and to test that it has worked, disconnect your console from XBLive (take the network cable out)

9. Load up the game again, and go to continue your single player game. You should now be back in single player, offline, and able to continue your progress offline, allbeit without any of the extra cars.

So the choice at the moment is, offline playable without any of the extra content, or use the extra content, but play online ONLY.

I hope the above helps.

My 360 came back from repair yesterday and this has happened to my son's saved game/profile. Obviously the console that came back was not the one I sent back to the repair centre as per standard procedure.

He is receiving a similar sort of message re. unavailable DLC when trying to reload his Oblivion saved game so perhaps there is a wider problem with DLC that is not just restricted to TDU.

It's a problem created by Microsoft to stop piracy, all download content is tied to the console it was downloaded on. The only way to get that content to work on a friends 360 for example, is if they are connected to LIVE, if they ain't connected, they ain't using the content.

It's odd that all of my saved games work with all of the DLC then :mefiant:

I haven't tried playing with my profile disconnected from xbox live yet but I did sign my profile in then signed my lad's in with the other controller and he can now access his saved game and is a happier young chap. Top man, cheers mdr1 :respect:

Glad your happy but the point of this thread is that if your Replacement 360 or a friends 360 isn't connected to the internet, content not downloaded by that specific 360 will not work period. MS did this to stop people giving away arcade games to friends and family. Which when you think about it is a bit naughty, you cant sell it (arcade game, additional content) on to someone else if/when you sell/trade the game on.

Now you can start to see why MS and all the others want to move to a download only console market in the future with no physical media. You cant sell what you haven't actually got in the first place.

Well he's happy. I'm none too happy that all this faffing about has to be done just to play a game. It's not like I've spent a small amount of money in the Xbox live marketplace either.

Also, I wonder when M$ are actually going to come clean about the real rate of failure of the 360 (the other 30%+ of all consoles sold that fail outside of warranty that is)

Surely having actually paid for it makes the content ours to sell it on as we please? I mean, if I go to Game and buy a game and get bored of it I can go and trade it in as I like. What's the fact whether it's physical media or not got to do with it? We have still paid for the content.

FocusFan
21-01-2007, 22:47
Thats just it though you cant sell the additional content you downloaded and paid for on the live marketplace. And in the future you'll probably pay MS direct to download a full game from whatever the marketplace may be called in the future.

How do you sell software to someone else that only works on your console? You could upload the file to someone who wants to buy it off you, but its worthless to them because they cant use it because they dont have your console with your unique serial number.

I posted this on MS forums, whether it will do any good or not I dont know, but its the only way to get this fixed.

People who are experiencing this problem or fear they may in the future experience this problem, need to boycott any and all purchases from XBLive until this issue is resolved. Its the only way to get MS to listen.

The post I made on MS forums is here:
http://forums.xbox.com/35/9805400/ShowPost.aspx#9805400

If you want to have you and your son/brother/wife have access to the same arcade game and have separate high scores etc, then you cant if you have a replacement console, only the original gamertag that purchased the content can access it, and whilst connected to live only.

If you have ANY downloaded content, including arcade games, then you can never play them offline again. So if you take the xbox away on a break, or your internet connection goes down for any reason, then you cannot access any of your DLC, even though you paid for it.

I would suggest adding to the above topic, it may help, it may not, but its the only thing that MS will listen to. If enough people take part, it becomes an interesting story for the media, if they get hold of it, then it will damage MS in more than just the sales of XBLA content, as rivals can use it as an example as to why their product is superior.

So we can either do something about it, or we can just keep on posting in threads like this for MS to ignore us.
