Just like the title says, how many players are typically online simotaniously in any given evening (well, evening for England)? For the 360 version of course.

there isnt a vast amount online, however, because people are automatically put into sessions you are never short of free ride racers, depending where you are you will still get full sessions and it is rare to have less than 3 people in a session anywhere.
the only way that TDU suffers about a lack of online players is that less popular online races are harder to enter because no-one goes on them

A lot, but you'll more than likely see everyone near the city and demo area primarily. There's also some up the northwestern part of the island.
Other than that, I find it rare to see anyone in the east.

I read a game preview article somewhere on one of the main gaming sites that stated the servers were capable of managing sessions for 120,000 users. Obviously don't quote me verbatim on that but I will try and find the article.
EDIT: OK here (http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/722/722527p1.html) is the article and it's straight from the horse's mouth. 60,000 per server. Obviously it's not possible to tell how many people are concurrently online at a given time like it is with some PC online games.
