Hello everyone, I'm having a problem completing the above race I can only get silver and its doing my head in. I was just wondering what the best car is to use? It's the race in grid ref H10 on champion level and its worth £100,000. Can anyone give me any tips? Cheers.

TIP #1:Are you racing only for the money? if so forget about this and if your champion lvl just do the 180mph challenge do it for 10mins you will have 1mill.
TIP #2:Maby keep goin back to your garage and keep trying out different cars.

Hello, I' not doing it for the money. I just need the gold cup in this race to complete all single race's! Ive tried so many car's but Im 7 seconds to slow! That was with the CCR

C´mon Tantalus is very easy.
You just have to take the right car.
See,
My first try was with a tuned Mc Laren and I failed. The second try was with a fully tuned Lamborghini Gallardo SE and I passed.
I even do this now just for fun. I pass in around 6:45 + some crashed -> 7:15 so still enough time.
So try the Gallardo SE (level 3 tuning) and you will make it :chapeau:

Faultier, please dont be so patronising,, its far from easy.
some people struggle on it cause it is a beast of a challenge, i agree it is achieveable in any number of cars ,but to call it VERY EASY is bollox

I still think its easy :)
i did it in a stg 3 S7TT, had plenty of time left
i only used the S7 cos some pumped up american kid said it would be impossible in an S7 :)
ohh and to the american squeky voiced kid :p

I did it in a merc maclaren slr, with about 15-20 seconds on the clock, due to some judicious braking. Use the brakes and the whole road and remember each point lost puts .25 of a second on your finishing time due to penalties. You can have about two 20 point collisions before you have to restart. And no it is not really easy, its do-able

I did it first try. lol, i don't even remember it. The maserati one was way more difficult if you ask me.

Tantalus took me about ten cos I was using ss7tt with no driving aid for the first 8 times, but the maserati challenge took me about 20 goes cos i always crashed into a tree about 30ft from the finish :mad:
i did both maser an tauntalus (it taunts you with the prospect of 100 big uns lol) in less than 5 tries
maserati mchammer finishes the maser challenge easy ( my mc12 was rented :nuts: )
and S7 on tanta, go slow through mountains and go extra fast on straights :)
Ack, everyone goes on about this challenge, I have yet to open it in the PC beta, sounds like a right old handful though... Going to hit it first go with a 'Vette, just for the wheeze mdr1

I had a bit of trouble with this race. I tried a number of cars, then a mate suggested the Lamborghini Murciélago and I did it first time. Have you tried that car yet?

Try using a Stage 3 Lambo Murcielago, this is what i did it in and had 15 seconds to spare.

being as the other thread was locked, it would probably be a good idea to put all tantalus related problems into this thread
well, the best car to use would be the murcie or gallardo SE
but if you bet against american kids use the Saleen S7TT :nuts:

i used the murcielago..drive conservative at the start during the curvy mountain area then open it up towards the end.
i find using bumper cam is easier :)

hmmmmmmmmmmm i agree it is hard im just about to give it a shot.. first time! but thing is we moan that the races are to easy... and moan when they are too hard :mefiant:

OMG EAT YOUR HEART OUT!!!!! sorry first time got 7.34 that was with the penaltys.... great got to do it again... thats in a STANDARD! F430!!!! :atari:

Um, where is this challenge? I've not come across it yet.. Well, i've probably seen it, I must have driven straight past it..

i done it 1st time with a stage 3 enzo (with no driving aids..i think) my time was 6.33.27+36.65 (i find dodging cars very difficult) so my total time was 7.09.92 :)

I know some people reckon this is real easy but I've had nothing but trouble trying to complete Tantalus. I've tried all the cars that ppl have suggested already - this is the last single player race I have to complete (not including missions). Does someone have any specific strategies with driving the car that might prove useful to me? I'm obviously not experienced enough with racers as this race has got me. The best time I've got was about 7 mins 15 secs but I had too much damage so it boosted the time to 7min 39secs.
On the hills do you use the handbrake? Is there any shortcuts at all - ways that might help me shave off some time. This is driving me mad.
Any further strategies or advice would be most welcome.
Updated - Well it looks like I managed to do this race after all - with only 4 seconds to spare - Ferrari Enzo lvl 3

The Only Tip i Would Have is Take it Easy In The First Part in The Hills and Go Flat out In The Streets....
And Also....All The Good Drivers have had No Problem Dealing with this challenge...you might need to get a Bit More Skill Under your belt

I've no doubt that I need more skill - as I mentioned in my edited post earlier I finally got through the challenge with about 4 seconds to spare. Now that the pressure is off I can practice it a bit more to see if I can better the time.
I definitely need more practice on handling the cars under handbrake conditions etc - but thanks for the advice.
I've only got to do some of the mission levels now and I'll have completed all the single player challenges...

4WD FTW! i made it the first time with the murcie mdr1 but it is kinda an annoying race with anything not 4WD
