I've seen this mentioned somewhere on here before, but there was never a complete answer to this question.

WHY is there not going to be DLC for the pc version of the game. Without it I
can't see this game lasting very long....

Has there been an official announcement to state that there will be no DLC for the PC?

Not that i've seen, but i'm sure I saw it meantioned somehwere on this forum.

Even more reason why i'd like to here it confirmed or denied really. Would seem such a shame not to have DLC on the PC. I think I saw it meantioned in a thread talking about the 360 DLC

if anything the cars that are in the DLC will be released as an add-on disc for the pc after a while ... afterall we've had to pay for ours

definately, i'm not expecting the cars to be free. But without any DLC or updates in the way of cars, the life span of the game will be alot shorted than I think it deserves.

Me and my mates have been taking about a driving mmo for years, its about time!

there will most likely be a load of modelers who will make interesting cars.

yes, most likely even cars such as skoda and volvo(omg lol...boredom but pretty fun if you're 'playing', pretending you go to your job in the company BMW 318i for instance)

I don't think that would really work, since it is so much centered around online play.

You could probably remodel a current car though, but cheat protection might pick that up as illegal.

fair do's.

in GTR2, you can play on downloaded tracks, and with specific servers also with downloaded/modded cars!

Tenebra said there would be no DLC for TDU PC.

What's the guessing that all this talk of people wanting the DLC on a separate retail disc will spark rumours that this is what Atari/Eden are going to do.

Bringing DLC on a seperate disk is out of the question i think.
It would cost them large amounts of money, making disks, wrapping them and shipping them... for what? 8 cars and a game update? I don't think so.
The Pc version already has about 125 cars? don't know the exact number...
but it's a lot! Not GT2 a lot... (496) but just... a lot :p

i think IF they did it with dics, they would just come out like 2-3 times a year.
so they just collect all that they have released dor the 360 and put i on a disc.. (so it would be more like 24-48 cars per pack)

I play oblivion, and they (Bethesda) releases dlc for oblivion on the net and then makes a "Downloadable Content Collection" disc with content.

GTR2 was designed to do that Race WTCC is done by the same ppl as GTR but you cant add tracks or cars

Maybe because that car's were not done when X36 version came out.
I think we should pay too but some car's should be a nice gift from Eden and Atari for wating soo long and looong...

My publisher in Poland is writing about more than 125 vechicles but they also say that are 90 cars in game so are they sure that will be DLC fo PC? I just want to know what I'm going to buy.

No DLC cars can short game life! that means less players in internet in future and less cash for Atari.

I also think that Atari can make good advert with DLC cars. When cars are out all game services notice that and it is free ad for Atari.

You should take care for PC users cause as you can see MMO's are best multiplayer money making games so I'm asking why Atari don't want make money on that?

My latest update - which is now about 2 months old - was that there won't be any DLC for the PC version, owing to the fact that there aren't any robust ways to effectively implement the concept implemented on the 360. Ideas were bounced at the time, I'll need to follow up to see if that is confirmed. I'll try to get an official answer asap.

You can add tracks and cars to GTR/2, and I'm sure in the upcoming months, it'll be possible for Race if there are any fans left for it.

I'll take a shot at doing some high end car modelling.. Could be a challenge, but I don't have 2 months to spend modelling cars. I'm too busy modeling space stations and aliens and starships etc..

I love my job.. :D

The idea of a disc carrying a big car pack has some teeth : many of eden's guys, some of who were hanging around an early TDU fan site, got their passion from the first test drive titles, and i think, but i could be mistaken, that a few of them have been working on Test Drive 3. And at the time the cars were coming on add-on floppy disks. The guys seemed to reminisce a lot about the good ole days so it's probable they'll want to pay this homage to the golden era. Just an idea off the top of my head.

There is no way Atari and Eden Games would close the online downloadable content on both ukatari.com and on testdriveunlimited.com is says in the game description "downloadable content". You will get this website or a link in the game to take you to the website that hosts the downloads. Relax.

If they have no download content,or way to get new cars, the game will slowly go out of date, and it would be a lot easier (and cheaper) to release new cars into the original game than a whole new game for new cars!
