Yeah.. it -is- somewhat dissapointing. Sadly not much else to do than wait.

However, some more info from the developers would be great. For example by keeping users updated about the progress of the DLC, and info on what's coming up. A post on what cars are in the pack etc. That would be great, and give users something to look forward to.

when i first came to the forum i really liked tens openness to the people and the fact that i came from a game that was paradise and then got thrown on to the ground and jumped and spat on by the devs i thought this was a great new team to be together with and bring the game forward. but from other people and now from self expirience i noticed that also atari dose not hold its promisses.. atari.. it might not be your fault. but do not fill the room with the hot air of yours. thats one mistake that swg corrected early on in its life time... i will keep playing tdu but no more atari games for me

Don't quote me but i was just reading on the American website that there's rumors that the new DLC is gonna be out on the 6th of Feb and instead of the DLC coming out towards the end of the month it'll be out at the begining. It looks like we can all forget about getting DLC for Jan and instead get just one in Feb. It kind of makes sence for Atari ect as it means they'll get more time to spend on new DLC ect. But like i've said it's just what ive read else where and as it's some form of news i see it only far to share it with you guys.

Well just recently over at the xbox forums, all the annoying impatient aggrovating children were slagging off Call of Duty 3 and the Valour map pack. They were going mental, and Im surprised the mod of that forum didnt delete their posts, the things they said was just pure retardation.
Anyway, they were saying oh its gonna be another 2 weeks because its the weekend, and now they arent working ect...
Well the map pack came out on sat or sun (cant remember exactly).
And its awesome.

Sooooo, maybe we could see something similar this weekend with this months DLC.

Or maybe Atari and the gang didnt realise how much hard work it is to release each month ?

Not sure how the company works at the moment considering the PS2 and PC releases.

I payed as you guys did for a game with the promise of MONTHLY DLC's - so as we bought the game, we bought it with the idea that there would be monthly add-ons and as quite a few of the others wanted - FF support. This was supposed to be supported from the get-go!

So, (im probably going to get banned for this, lol) - Atari need to stop complaining about all the stuff they've got to do like server upgrades, patches, DLC's, then the PS2 and PC games and realise you PROMISED all this a LONG tiime ago! This should all have been planned before the Xbox360 release with contingency strategies in place IF things went wrong. Also the excuse for the server problems that an extra 10,000 users jumped on over xmas - again, all due respect. Its XMAS!! Ofcourse game sales/server connections are going to hike!

Guys, your fans are beginning to fade! I'd try taking note of what FANS are saying a little more. We want information (at least) - and seen as though our purchases of the software, dlc's and xbox live help keep you guys active - you owe us that much!

I am getting as annoyed as the next guy waiting for the Downloadable content, which has been advertised as being "monthly", but I can full well understand the predicament that Atari is in currently, with Beta and other issues.

If Atari focuses on the DLC-pack instead of bug-fixes there will be a lot of angry players. Players that will buy the game for PC and so on and so forth.

The thing about DLC is, as we have seen, that people expect it now, here and snap to it!

The moment one pack has been released, there is a post here about the next, and the next and the next, and more posts "I want XXX car and I want it in the next pack and please and pretty please and I'll be your friend if you give me a Fiat Multipla with a billion bhp and seven hundred wheels and.... and .... and ... and...."

I can full well sympathize with moderators being fed up with the constant whining and the endless stream of posts which obviously is the result of someone not using a search button, and in a worse case, just want to spam for spams sake.

Atari may have obligations towards releasing a "monthly" content package, but they are in no way obligated to reveal the content before it is released.... And I will take bugfixes over content any day.

Guys, ease up on the spam, the questions and the whining and accusations of poor customersupport and "Evil Atari". It will only result in no info at all, because moderators can't bother, and Atari want their forums to have a clean and friendly tone.

However, this is not solely a matter of complaining customers. It is a matter of mutual benefits. "Give a little, get a little"... "Quid pro quo" to quote a somewhat dated, but still infinitely famous movie.

As I see it, the problem lies in inconsistency and secrecy. Whether it be through NDA's (Non Disclosure Agreements) with Microsoft, I shan't say.

However, a consistent approach to the release of info and content would be preferable. And some insight.

What we know is:

Microsoft clears all downloadable content before download.

They rarely release before weekends. (The Xmas pack was released on a friday though.)

The process takes somewhere in the vicinity of a couple of weeks.

After Microsoft clears it, THEY put it out for download.

I suggest, and it might be presumptuous of me, that a snippet of info is given. Maybe which car will be free and include the graphics for the others. And one car from the pack.

Since this is what people want. More importantly, the date that the patch goes to Microsoft is revealed too.

That way people can sit back and say. "Fine. It's off the desk of Atari. Now it's a matter of a few weeks."

The not-knowing anything is more frustrating than anything. With consistency and a planned release of info, maybe the boards will loose the endless amount of "When's the pack???????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" threads.

Just my two cents (Or judging by the amount of words 38.85 bucks) on what might end badly.

I agree that people are getting out of hand about the DLC and update and ur not a atari employee so u cant do much, but there do got a point, because if u look at it from their eyes, we didnt hear anything about the DLC for a month and a half, and even so that they got better things to do like bugs(isnt there a special team for that?), but doesnt mean they can atleast tell everyone there is a delay, you know what i mean? and i know you cant do much but u do have some kind of meetings with the devs(i think, correct me if im wrong). and if theres targeted dates that great to here, must mean there somewhat close, but does this mean we are not gonna get febs pack too?

I'm new here, so forgive me if I mention something here that may have been sorted out between the forum users and hosts in earlier threads/posts.

I think the very problem (at least concerning the DLCs) is with the "monthly" term. It really doesn't matter that the carpacks aren't monthly, the problem is that the ads (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/testdriveunlimited/carpacks.htm) say they are - but in reality they aren't being released within the one month window. Sure, a couple of days, who would it kill? Well, alot of people (incl. myself) look forward to these great additions to an already very good game - and when every single release date (officially stated or just belonging under the "monthly" umbrella) gets pushed, it puts people off.
You've propably heard all this before, so I'll shut up about it for now.

But I think if the release dates were projected realisticly, it would be easier on the developers (more time) and the users (released on time). Maybe the amitions outweigh the actual output. Although we work best under the gun, a realistic projection -is- better. For my sake they could change the "monthly" carpacks to "every other month" carpacks. As long as they were here on time.

So delay the pack another month, just make sure to post it - and get it out on time. Rather that than constantly pushing the date in silence.

This is of course just my opinion.

this is the exact reason i plan on buying all the packs, even if i dont like the cars, so i can support TDU2. even tho 350 for 7 cars is kinda steep(50 more points and i can buy a dvd off the marketplace o.0), i just hope it motivates them to make a great game :atari:

Four months have passed and we have only received 2 "monthly" DLC packs. Unacceptable. There have also been delays with patches, and force feedback, and hardcore mode, and probably other things I am not aware of. Unacceptable. So don't say "just in case there are delays" when in all likelihood delays are probable, if not a sure thing.

As an attorney, I know what it means to work and put tremendous hours in at the office. I also have several friends who are computer programmers, and I know that it is a profession where there is procrastination, followed by an intense rush of overtime work to get things done. Tenebra, you should be thankful that you work in a field where delays are acceptable. I can't imagine telling a judge with a straight face that I need a continuance because I was too busy to adequately prepare myself for court. In most jobs deadlines are deadlines.

if you want new cars so much, then look at the lesser used legends of the game, for example, i formerly thought the mustang GTR was a heap of 'EA games' :p but now i love it, discovering an old car is just as good as getting new ones.

to be honest i dont care about the monthly stuff. after all, what is a month? its just 31 rotations of the earth, given special status centuries ago as some sort of timescale. i dont see the point in the slavery to the 1 month timeframe, i just want DLC when it is 'finished'

I too discovered some new cars.. CLS55, and CLK55... both are actually pretty darn good. i didnt even own a CLK intill a week ago. but still, I think its the excitement of seeing new cars, driving cars with totally new characteristics, and pitting them against my known favourites. When the RGT came out it was an instant classic for me. It was a very good feeling hopping in it and thinking.... holy ****! This thing rules! While the cars already in the game may be decent, there is a reason they dont get driven much. The CLS is fast, smooth, and nice.... but its a bit of a yawn to drive... even though it does post up pretty quick times on my designated test tracks. Bottom line, new cars are exciting, old cars might be surprising, but not really all that exciting. Which is partly why im glad that TDU didnt ship with all its cars. Its like a TV show where you can expect new stuff... Partly why people get so frusterated when it doesnt come out with any descernable frequency. Trust me, id be pretty pissed off if i never knew when to expect the new episode of Battlestar Galactica *nerd*

Thank you Tenebra for at least letting us know that their is no news as yet. Obviously best intentions can be fraught with delays - but it is the beginning of the year - everyone deserves to come back from their holiday break without being hassled too much (well - I know in a real world this doesn't happen but it would be nice).

Tenebra, maybe you should just sticky a short post to the effect that their is no more info (as you've said in this post) so that people who are quickly checking the forums can see that no new developments have occurred.

I'm looking forward to the next DLC just like everyone else but (just as it has already been said by some previous posts) - just continue to enjoy the game until it does come out. Ranting on about it isn't going to have it arrive any quicker...

This messenger was generally insulting people with quips about toys being thrown out of play pens, and people not working a day in their lives.

But you are right. We shouldn't get so geared up about a few new cars. After all, as you said there are over 100 in the game, and at least 4 out of the 7 new cars on deck will only be slight alterations of vehicles already in the game. At least now we can look forward to the DLC and be optimistic about it. When the pack actually comes out there will be some disappointment when we're left staring at 1) a Murcielago with its roof chopped off, 2) another Koenigsegg that looks just like the others, 3) a Ferrari 308 that is like the 288GTO, only slower, and 4) an Aston Martin DBS. Here's hoping that the rehashed and slightly retooled vehicles they have planned for the next update will be offset by say an F40, a Testarossa, and that Diablo GT we saw in the screenshot.

Just let me clear someting up for you. I will have you know I do work and have never not worked (so don't unsult me please).

I understand your frustrations completely, it must be very frustating moderating a forum that continually demands information, however this fustration you and the other mod's are feeling is entirely generated by one of the following
a. Ataru,
b. Eden
c. M$
and finally yourselves.

The reason we are we are frustated and so demanding is that Atari have advertised "monthly DLC's" and to date have not delivered on there promises, furthermore they have NOT published any formal response stating that

A. There will be a delay
B. What the cause of the delay is.

It is highly encouraging that Atari/Eden have "target dates for everything", perhaps it would help if Atari/Eden could publish the target date information and then provide an update to the information if there is a delay or further development.

I believe we would all welcome more corporate and developers presence in the forum, and also believe the mods would indeed see a change in the "attitude" of the members if the developers where to interact with the forum and provided an insight into the development if the game and its future content. (please see Turn10's input into Forazmotorsport.net as an example of good developer inter-action).

I've been involved with games for years now and trust me, getting a car pack a few days late isn't a bad thing. How long did people wait for Doom 3 and Half Life 2 for example. These had release dates that ran Years over schedule..

My god people. Grow up and go outside once in a while. There's more to life than bitching about a computer game.

The Spyker does indeed have a very cool engine sound, I can't help driving my XJ220 and Ascari KZ1 though and mainly just for the sound, those turbo's on the XJ220 and the whoosh with Ascari is just blissful, no need for music with them.

dunno how much hype that is but at the time nobody else was making concept cars with such outrageous performance claims and these days technology has caught up to make the rest of the car handle it such as the veyron etc.

kudos to ford for being brave enough to build the thing even though it never really did what it said on the tin!

I think it was running with the turbos disconnected. The engine was fabbed from 2 V8s with a couple of cylinders lopped off each one, then welded together.

Funny how some people can be so mouthy and rude on the internet, but in the real world and when in person, most people don't have the guts to say it. Because they'd probably start a real argument or even a fight. And doing that on the internet can have similar consequences now days, but unfortunately, it doesnt stop people hiding behind avatars, alias's and keyboards.

I can't really picture them dropping everything and having everyman focus on working on bugs, and yet still take months to fix. And i don't mind if they delay stuff but Eden(not atari) needs to let their fans know that thier is delays, instead of just ignoring it.

With a MMO game, they have a community to take care of and inform, or else this game will flop(like it already has). If eden would of throughly checked for bugs(by delaying it if they have too, maybe would wouldnt of lost cars to the marketplace as well), they wouldnt be in this sitiation. Also, i dont want to here people saying that all ppl do is complain about how long DLC is taking. They were already a month behind, and they we dont get info for a month and a half, and then we finally get info that they got a date set(thanks ten), but this will most likely mean we will lose another month. There are Xbox Live data centres all over the world: a couple in the US, London, Tokyo and I think S.Africa is now online. Where the TDU servers are located exactly is unknown to me of course.

i think youre just driving at the wrong time of day (or night for you)... remember that there is at least 6 hours difference between you and the european players...

since im unemployed right now i occationaly play til the wee hours of the night and i meet alot of americans around 2 or 3 am (wich would be 8 or 9 pm EST)...
so just stay up really really late (or play very early in the morning) and you'll meet people from europe...

hell, ive even played some japanese folks online... of course neither of us could understand what the other was saying, but it was still fun...

A Mac is a brand of computers. Mac is short for Macintosh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macintosh).... and has been part of Apple for a while now.

I for instance am using a Macbook Pro 17'' (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/nlstore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=26BBDC17&nclm=MacBookPro). It is running on it's own OS, so no more trouble with Windows crashing. Mac is using OSx for a while now, which is the Apple OS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS) based on Unix.

All programm updates are free and most programs are installed in the OS free. So a mac will always work 'out of the box'. No need to buy expensive packages.

All I had to buy was Office for mac, because all my college stuff is written in word. Luckily I am a student so that wasn't too expensive :-)

You see, this is the sort of b0ll0cks you get from rabid Mac evangelists who believe all the hype in those annoying adverts.

I love my Apple Macs, but I'm a realist. Let me dispel a few myths...

* Macs crash and freeze just as often as PCs running Windows or Unix. Either the screen just locks up or you get the spinning coloured wheel of death. At least windows sometimes crashes out to a blue screen that contains some useful diagnostics.

* There is far more useful free software available for the PC as there is for the Mac

* If you want to do any serious movie-making, music making or art on a Mac, you have to pay for that software, just like you do with Windows, and it costs the same. I bought Cubase SX2 and Reason 3 for my Mac and they don't run any better than they did on my Windows PC.

* There is no equivalent to MSPaint on a Mac. I find MSPaint extremely useful for quickly and crudely editing screen grabs before pasting them into word.

There is no equivalent to the wave editor that's built-in to Windows. Therefore, no quick and easy way to grab samples from a CD and chuck them into your sequencer - you have to download extra software for that.

* Macs do not work with all the latest PDA's, cellphones, printers etc. My Motorola V6 has been out for three months and it's still not supported by iSync.

* The .Mac sync service is a complete POS and waste of money. It's extremely flaky at best, and that's when Apple aren't having trouble with the .Mac servers, which they frequently are.

* Macs are no more secure than PCs. There are still several exploits that allow an unpriviledged user to obtain a root shell and the OSX firewall is no more secure than the one built-in to Windows Xp and Vista.

* Windows XP comes with a built-in media player and movie making software too. Apple's equivalent software is different, but not necessarily any better or worse.

* Almost every single one of those current Apple Mac adverts, although amusing, is horribly misleading and based on the Windows PCs of 5 years ago.

* There is no way to tile or cascade windows on a Mac. This is extremely annoying when you're running Xcode and you want a terminal window next to it in which you can tail logging output. On a windows machine, you can simply tell it to tile the windows vertically, so they both fill the screen, side-by-side. On a Mac, you have to manipulate the windows manually.

* USB - aaarrrgh - when I disconnect my Archos PVR or my TomTom Go 910 in OSX - why does it immediately reconnect before I've had a chance to physically disconnect it? It doesn't do this on Windows.

* Firewire - why does my external Maxtor OneTouch frequently lose its connection when using firewire, yet it's perfectly stable using USB?

*If you're into retro emulation of past games consoles, the software available for Windows is generally of a far higher standard than that available for the Mac. Gens, for example, p!sses all over Genesis Plus from a great height.

* If you're a developer of business IT systems (as I am) Macs are utterly useless as they do not support many of the commercial development tools (such as Rational ClearCase, BEA WebLogic Integration etc.).

* Back on topic: Is Test Drive Unlimted coming to the Mac? I don't think so. the only games that make it to the Mac are OpenGL-based games - games that rely heavily on DirectX (such as Half Life 2) never get ported.



The main reason I like my Macs is that they look cool, the UI is generally better designed than Windows, the Expose features are quite nice and it has a Unix command line, but mainly because they show other people how rich I am that I can spend so much money on nice-looking computers (and I'm being honest here).

Beyond that though, I wouldn't say there's enough difference to warrant the extra cost, especially given the new UI features in Windows Vista. I just hope that OSX Leopard will put enough clear water between Macs and PCs once again, but we'll have to wait and see on that front.

The pin wheel only ever shows if; 1: Many Apps are using a high % of system resources 2: If on the rare occation finder crashes.

For your screen grabs on the Mac use Command - Shift - 4 and target the area you want to capture rather than doing the whole screen. If you do want to edit it use Preview.

But you should checkout Mark/Space (http://www.markspace.com/) or NovaMedia (http://www.novamedia.de/sync/index.html) to add additional iSync support.

I'm not a MS fanboy - I'm a Java Developer who's spent the last 10 years developing business applications for Unix systems. Proper Unix systems that is... running Solaris 10... none of that Linux ****.

I've always hated Windows with a passion and started buying Macs when they switched over to a Unix-style OS and made the GUI much more usable.

But I simply won't swallow the Mac versus PC marketing guff that comes out of Apple.... you'd have to be some kind of gullible idiot to buy any of that.

Look for years PC users have always bragged how much better PC's are than Mac's, and in all fairness the old Mac's where pretty ****!

However the new Apple Mac line up is pretty damn impressive, I have worked with MS for 11 years I finally snapped 2 years ago after they announced a security flaw in Win2k and IE then took their sweet time to release a patch, then even longer to release one that worked. If anyone remembers some 13 virii where released within 3 days to exploit this issue.

The new Mac ads are a laugh and to be fair pretty spot on:

Haha, don't get your panties all in a twist there mate. If you want to run windows, go and run windows. If you want to use a mac.... work with that. It's not a contest of who has the best toys.

I use my mac for editing photo's. Simply because there is nothing better in my private opinion. (mind you.... MY opinion...... If you like any other system..... use it ;-))

btw I am a manager at an IT firm ;-) (over 500 employees) so..... I think I know what I am doing.

And if I wanted to play games on a computer I'd buy one for just that reason.......

..... but I am happy with my consoles for that purpose.

Also have you used the new Parallels with Coherence, really smart. Boot up Windows, activate Coherence mode and then all the windows apps appear in the dock. No windows screen, just the Mac OSX desktop but running Windows apps, sooooo sweet!

Although I do have to say if it wasn't for my Sage i wouldn't use Windows at all.

97 Days? LOL! Then you haven't been downloading the critical system updates , many of which which patch security holes in the operating system (e.g. Security Update 2007-001). They always require a restart to apply the patch. I'll bet you've got the automatic updates disabled.

Right I know this is way off topic but thats were the conversation is going. Can't you get Open Office, i'm sure theres a vershion with Mac and its fully compatible with microsoft save files. And of course its open sourse so free.

Like GIMP, Open Office for the Mac is kind of a hack from the Linux version. You need to install X11 to run it... and I'm not a big fan of apps that run under X11 on OSX. IMO, the Mac version of Microsoft Office is way better than the Windows version, btw. Just thought I'd throw that in.
