View Full Version : WARNING: Aparently bad uninstall
This is from another web site, and this guy said:
----------------
Anyone who managed to get this downloaded and play, PLEASE don't use the uninstall feature as the beta ends on Sunday and you may well be tempted to remove it...
There is a problem where it deletes all root files on C drive except those hidden or system files.
My boot.ini has gone and several others. My PC still works/boots but who knows what it's really done, might be lots of files missing left right and centre when I have a proper look!?
Worrying if thousands of DVD's are already printed and ready to go with this dodgy uninstaller on!
-------------------
Not sure whats happened there but can anyone else confirm this ?

Errrr...are you sure that it's not just a very silly rumour? Especially the "Worrying if thousands of DVD's are already printed and ready to go with this dodgy uninstaller on!" is quite laughable, beta tests are done to find bugs, nothing is mastered and duplicated for retail until the code goes gold rolleyesa
How could he boot if his boot.ini had gone?
These are just rumours, please dismiss them as such.

i`ve reveived a mail from betatestadmin@atari.com
look:
"Greeting TDU Beta Testers,
This email is to inform you of a bug in the Test Drive Unlimited uninstaller
from the Open Beta Test. If you plan on uninstalling Test Drive Unlimited,
please be sure to back-up (or move) any "loose" personal files you may have
stored in the c:\ root directory on your computer.
There is an issue where the uninstaller may attempt to remove files in the c:\
root directory that are NOT in a folder or are NOT protected by windows.
- Files that are in folders on c:\ are NOT affected by this bug.
- Files that are protected by your windows operating system are also not
affected.
Please be sure to take extra special care when uninstalling TDU.
If you have any questions at all regarding this issue, or would like more
instructions on how to back-up your files, please email betatestadmin@atari.com
This bug is of course fixed in the retail version of TDU.
I'd also like to remind everyone that the Open Beta Test for Test Drive
Unlimited will be ending tomorrow 2/4/07. Thanks again for all your help in the
beta test for Test Drive Unlimited and we look forward to seeing you on the road
in the future!
Best,
Beta Test Administrator"
So i think it is true...
i don`t delete the file untill somebody find something what helps...

I wish you could say that about the 360 version. I think the code went bronze then they mastered and duplicated it for retail.
TDU is too buggy for the 360 and im sure it will be the same for the PC.
