Simple question.

Is it worth paying £80 for this bit of kit?

my opinion of the microsoft wheel is that it is (in my opinion) the best wheel available for the 360. i also hold these opinions;

the build quality is very good.

thanks to its design, it sits very sturdily on your lap and resists moving around much even when you're driving 'enthusiastically' - it has non-slip rubber strips on its underside and the main body practically covers your entire lap it sits across your legs, not in between them like common older designs.

the force feed back works brilliantly on project gotham 3 and (potentially subject to change) is due to be supported within tdu soon though it's not clear yet whether this added support will cost you - my previous question on this was ignored.

beware though - it has one major flaw - the lack of any analogue paddles such as you get on the standard joypad controller. this means that when in map view you can't scroll properly around the map (just left or right). you can get around this though by keeping a second joypad controller connected and use the analogue stick on that. unfortunately this workaround only applies to scrolling the map - it doesn't work when in photo mode or in the paint shops - for those you will have to deactivate the wheel and connect a standard controller in its place. i'd like to think that this will be fixed in a future update but who knows.

hope that helps.

ps, i have never used the mad kats wheel so can't comment on that.

It also means you can't look around the exterior or interior of the car while you're driving.

I don't think any of this will be addressed for this iteration of TDU, but future driving games for the Xbox 360 (like Forza 2) will presumably sort this out.

Forza 2 doesn't have an interior view to look around in. It only has a Hood/Bonnet view, from what I have read.
