Hi folks,

after the release of my small game mod on TDU-Central.de, I want to show it to you here too.

I have made some tweaks to the weather files that came with TDU and have made a "night" mod. :D

Try it out and you'll see that it's not as dark as in the pictures.

It's still possible to drive (even in cockpit view)!

What is changed by the mod ?

The weather and daytimes are fading from day to sunset (about 2 minutes), to night (about 7 minutes), back to daylight (about 30 minutes),

During night time you still can see that roads and houses.
Just imagine that it's a full moon night. :)

Unfortunately there are no car light beams or taillights or street lamps.
Other lighting is not possible without SDK or an texture editor.

BACKUP your gamefiles please!!

The two files are located in the following folder:

C:\your folder\TestDriveOpenBeta\Euro\Bnk\FX

The weather is not synchronised, so it's not a problem while playing online.

Nice work there! I hope you can find away of turning the headlights on that'll stay on.. Anyway keep up with the work, TDU just might become abit more realistic

Yeh, I fiddled with the file as well... :)...
I never released something because its a BETA...
You are NOT allowed to release anything from the BETA...

BUT, when the Final comes out and the files are the same then you could just fix it again and release a Final Version for people to enjoy :)...

thats not bad but it looks a bit too dark. I havent used this but it looks like an improvement over the original TDU. The original TDU has funny lighting so its hard to see the traffic. Good work on this I say

btw the beta is ended how can you guys play it??
is it possible thta you can put your clokc backwards after the beta hes ended? isnt that agaist the NDA?

I cant my Beta of this wont work. Ive tried turning back my clock and Ive tried making a new account but it fails to work every time

The beta is officially over !

I think my mod will work in the full version too and that will be out soon.

I doubt it...
They could add lots of stuff that wasnt in Beta...
And using your Edited File will just screw up the Final game...

Wait for Final and Edit the file and release it again...

I got TDU working again and tried this. I like what you done up to when it gets to night time. It does get slightly too dark. One thing I like about this mod is that I can now see the traffic coming and going which makes things easier.

Now I just have to get used to my new G25 lol.

I think it's both. Mod = modification, so if anything is changed or added I call it Mod. :wink2:

Was thinking of something kinda different but, sounds true...:)...
I was thinking a MOD was something added, sorta like Oblivion Mods or something like that...he he...
Never mind, Its all good anyway... :)...

Wonder if its possible to fix the Lights on the Cars, to when its darker they show more road ahead ???
Gonna have to wait for final to check that out...

And so Stalker is coming and Im going to build Maps to that game as well :)...
Building Maps for 6 games at the Moment...LOL...
At the moment Im working on a Serious Sam 2 Map that is enormous called Hell House...he he...

Except for the Entities/Models/Meshes flashing and Disappearing because NVidia hasnt made any good Drivers for Vista...

vista is great but until the Nvidia drivers support SLI for my graphics cards I cant use it yet. But im going to buy an 8800 GTS soon.

I tried it out. So far so good enough I think, but it usable only without HDR! Sadly it's totally unusable with HDR effect. It has never been dark, if I use HDR...
Maybe you should modify the HDR.ini file too.

I would like it(seeing as you seem to know your way round the configs) if you might want to take the time to put out a "High Perfomance" set of tweaks(I know Necro had been working on some as well) but any community members who have the time/knowledge/drive to make a night mod I would think just making it run better should be a snap :hin:

To the people still going on about Nvidia drivers: The 101.41 beta drivers are out, performance is way up on all games aside from TDU with them, but the game does work just fine.

Well, I was working on a slightly brighter Night-Mod.

There will be some newer files soon.

The darkness depends on your game settings (AA, brightness, HDR).

The sun-up picture above is not the normal daylight!!
It depends on the clouds. Your still have bright blue sky!

I don't have a HDR card, so I can't check that or mod any HDR.ini files.

With some tweaking of the few ini files I can't make the game engine run like a Ferrari, when it's only got a Fiat 500 engine in it !! rolleyesa

All I can say is. You should use the Night-Mod files ONLY when you are finished with missions (like car delivery).

It's not very funny to drive through the night while on a delivery or other mission !

And remember, it's a quick mod. You can move back your original game files in a second if you don't like it!

This was made for fun driving and I like it.

I like your night mod too, so keep up the good work on it! :)

What a pity that you can't use the HDR effect and can't try out modify its .ini file becuse of night mod. :noooo:

I had a look at the weather HDR file and it's possible to change that into night too.

I will do that the next days and release it with my other updated file. But you have to test it because I don't have a HDR card.

I use this mod most of the time now. Every now and then I go back to the usual full time daylight TDU. I find it more difficult to drive and keep up with buddies when we're cruising such places as the Northern country hills with all the roads curvier than Salma Hayek participating a limbo contest. With so many shadows and blind corners it's a darker and more dangerous place to encounter oncoming cars when you use this night mod. But the mod works great and I would recommend it. 10sur10
