i got an email from game(UK) this morning telling me the following...
"As you may already be aware, the UK release date for Test Drive Unlimited has changed to 16-Mar-2007. Changes to release dates are relatively common in the videogames industry and are unfortunately beyond our control....."
so looks like its taking them a little longer to fix the bugs which has to be a good thing i suppose. weve waited this long so might aswell wait another 2 weeks for them to hopefully get it right.

This is closer to the release dates that everywhere else (other than in the UK) have been showing for weeks now, being the 20th (or so) of March. A lot of people have been getting quite excited that it might come sooner than that given how widespread this early March release date has been in the UK, but unfortunately this looks like yet another step in the 20th of March direction.
I haven't received this email. Only email I've got is the one saying it will be released on 2nd of March.

As it seems the PC version has also been put a little back in the calendar. As it is writen in a german site, the new date is the 8th March 2007.

I don't think it's fair to classify it as a delay if a game store has been reporting it as the 2nd of March when the better part of the publishing companies websites have been showing the 20th for weeks.
I agree it sucks, it is later than we would all like it to be, but it is not a delay if the root cause for the change of date is poor communication.
The fact is that they shouldn't have send us the official email saying that it will be released on 2nd of March if it si being delayed now.

Ok this is all just getting a bit ridiculous. A sticky thread needs to be created listing the 'official' release dates for each country, and they should be constantly updated with any 'official' setbacks. The number of emails, dates, and speculation I've read in the last few weeks is crazy. If any moderators have access to the official info then please create a proper release date sticky to end this confusion. :)

I'm from Portugal, and in here they told me 20th of March, so i made the order in the amazon.co.uk, because first they told 16th of Feb now it's 2nd of march. Now i´m waiting for the 2nd of March let´s hope that the correct date

Can any of the mods please say what is the official date for the game. I mean all of us are just guessing what we have read or heard from someone. I know you don't have time just to look at this forum and answer the question. But what is atari or eden (I don't know) doing is just silly. Why don't they make an official date of the game. Doesn't matter if it is 1st of April. Becouse I think they know how long will they take to fix the bugs and to do what they have to do, that the game can be released. So, can you just tell us. Is there an official date of the game or not ? I mean the real date. Not like it's 8th of March, but it is not 100%.

So do any online stores in the Benelux region show shipping dates for the end of this week? Or even a shop in Belgium near the France border? I have no problem driving a little while to get this two weeks early! Hell, I'll drive the 2 1/2 hours to the Netherlands for it if it comes to that.

I asked Atari about the difference of the dates.
They told me that it is because of some delevery problems in country's. But there will be no problems in The Benelux.
There are some sites where you can order it online. But i don't know if the ship outside the The Netherlands.

March 16th is UK release date and america is March 20th, Sweden get it before use prob because its near the europen distribution.
They have different dates becuase of times to ship or if they have two different distribution points in europe and american.
Some people may get TDU before 2nd and 16th and i mean like a week before becuase for some odd reason Atari is like that, for example Boiling Point, my brother pre-ordered it from amazon.co.uk and got it like more then a week before release. But other that didnt get it from amazon didnt they got it at the normal time.

My G25 is working fine, still trying to find a good configuration, and my sound is fine. Well I had it drop once briefly, but it came back.

Their bloody Drivers are garbage... I cant play my Truck game after updating the Nvidia Drivers... :(

Like they are reliable coming to release dates, the game has been delayed about 5 times :) . You better watch the stores until it's actually there, so you can see it, feel it and play it, before you rely on dates. And I have seen it, unfortunately I have to wait for my pre-order to arrive.

Ok, rather than everyone asking the same question (since Mole seems to be in a Q&A mood), why is it the EU gets it on the 2nd, and the brits have to wait til the 16th? Surely its the same game, and surely the 30 mile channel between here and France doesnt take an extra 2 weeks to cross?
Are they walking the stock to British stores?
Lets just grab a number, say 800 miles, over 14 days = 58 miles per day = 3 miles per hour, which is 3/4 of walking speed.

One of the reasons of an Early European release could be that Eden Games is French??? They are situated in Lyon, along with Atari Europes headquarters, maybe theyve shipped a few copies out to small surrounding countries for marketing or sales purposes? Belgium and Netherlands are right next door to France, cant explain sweden though :hin:

LOL... Nothing to explain about Sweden... I think they are selling this way to keep tabs on how many sales they make ??? Dont know for sure... We did that at work as well...

lol we are just as near as the Netherlands, we also have the underground train from france to uk so could send a load of games on the train.

But the UK is a huge Gaming Market, along with france and Germany, this could easily be some sort of sales test for atari, since weve only heard of the shops getting in "limited supply" and only a few shops have been granted access to sell the game. The UK is too big to progress in some early sales tests. This would also explain why France hasnt got the game yet. (since the games origin is french, and ataris headquarters are in france?)
My guess is its to determine how many copies they need to ship out to other coutries, probiably based on their first week of sales, or fist day maybe.

The fact is that the game is already buable in the Netherlands and probably the Whole of the Benelux because I Heard some Belgiums had the game aswell. So for the guys in the UK you can do two things: Wait untill the 16th or order it on the other site of the canal. Even with the shipping time concerning you can have it before the release in the UK.

You can select any language. I think that the game will be the same in every country. So it is multi language.

ok heres what I managed to come up with,
GAME won't release in the UK until the 16th, nor will Virgin, HMV, WH Smiths, MVC, PC World, Tescos ( had to try) matter of fact, ANY large multiple retailers are all saying the sixteenth.
BUT ( hallelujah praise the independents!) one small indie store has ordered me a copy from an importer that should arrive there by tmrw or at the latest, tuesday, you gotta love imports, theyre getting in the game from sweden apparently, and the one and only copy arriving at the store should be mine in time for my birthday on wednesday. paid thirty pounds for it, bingo bango!!!
If you are in the UK, it does seem possible that you can grab a copy of the game if you know where to look, ( namely the smaller guys) none of the mainstream retailers will sell it until the 16th but those indies are getting copies in slowly but surely, defo worth asking around. either way, it beats having to wait until the 16th for a game that should have had distribution networks already setup, but hey the game is all that's important!
In the meantime I guess I will just sit on my *** for five days and work,
Mole I dont know if it matters about giving the name of businesses selling the euro release to us UK customers. If we want the game bad enough we will get hold of it, personally I was ready to bribe any staffmember at any store that said they had it in but couldnt sell it to me until launch with an unopened Burning Crusades collectors boxset, as well as cash up front, but in the end I didnt even have to !

To be honest, the game being released in some country's puts me at ease. Atleast it's been released, just hope that it stays for the 8th down here in South Africa. Been waiting since September :wink2:

Well except for the timebomb and less bugs..

Ok..hmm..So people who have managed to bypass the timebomb
in the beta have more or less the full game but with more bugs in it and with less cars..hehe
I'm so gonna get this game.

to the 6 months that i've already waited for this game dark:

Received min in the Post on Friday(It was shipped out on the 27th) I am in Norway
Take it from me nobodies missing much so far this game has a LONG way to go yet.The concept is there, the product still needs some overhauling tho. I would say all you late daters are at the advantage as you will be closest to getting the Patch I hope Eden is working on RIGHT NOW! to sort out the myriad of issues(Performance, Wheel Issues etc.)
